High Performance, Small, Point and Shoot The Nikon P330 point and shoot is my pocket camera of choice due to its combination of size and resolution. When used properly, it will produce DSLR quality results. See the attached portrait taken at a shutter speed of 1/160, an aperture of f/4, and an ISO of 160. October 7, 2014
Great Pocket Pro Took this camera on a vacation to Sweden in the extremely cold month of January 2014. Didn't have time to "learn" the camera since I took it new, straight out of the box. Realized what the camera could and couldn't do in the first hours of shooting - it is a point and shoot after all. After the first day of "testing" I discovered: 1. The correct flash to subject distance for ultimate flash coverage. 2. The extreme value of the Hand Held 3-exposure Night Setting. 3. Focusing with telephoto - going past minimum focus distance. 4. Using the macro setting properly. 5. And if I was lazy, switching it to Auto Scene Mode. This camera took awesome night shots on our subarctic cruise in extreme weather. I also used the Sports mode extensively for higher shutter speeds and for rapid fire captures. The video feature, perfect. After 3000 captures, I say: "What a fantastic camera." And: Nikon brand batteries are way cheaper than Canon - I took 3 batteries. Only thing I didn't like was the "Raise the Flash" warning that popped up every time I used the Auto Scene mode - a complete nuisance feature for this camera that cost me some important captures while waiting. By the way... the pics turned out extremely sharp and the colors awesome. February 3, 2014
Outstanding features and picture quality Looks like Consumer Reports got it right this time. This sub-compact is great for us. Got this for my wife to carry in her purse everywhere she goes. The larger sensor and 1.8 lens will let us shoot indoors without flash. The menu is the best we have seen on a cam this size and believe me, we have tried many. The easy to access mode changes are so convenient. Makes it easy to change shutter speed and f stops with the A and S settings. Just like our DSLR cams. The video mode works for us and I'm pleased with how well the auto focus keeps up with composition changes. we are very pleases with this camera. January 8, 2014
Great camera with lots of features and adustment possibilities As soon as I unpacked the P330 I fell in love with it. The camera has that quality touch and feel that you normally get from a SLR camera of good quality. The addition of the primary functions P,S,A, and M are exactly what was missing on my other Coolpix cameras. These settings can overcome the situations that the Auto function can't. The picture quality is superb. The lens with an f-stop of 1.8 is super and the range of the lens 24mm to 120mm is perfect for most general photography. All I can say is, that I love this jewel. April 26, 2013
This is my first digital camera. Until now all of my experience has been with 35mm and 6x7 film cameras. I am impressed with this camera's convenience, close-up, and low light capability. Pictures, so far, have dazzled me. April 16, 2013

Answer:
Hi,
The P330 supports RAW(NRW), RAW+Fine and RAW+Normal (the last two in JPEG). There is no compression, of course, in RAW and the bit depth is the full supported pixel count of the camera.

When I am shooting 1080p video, some times the camera will be unable to focus. I am currently using the AF-F (Autofocus Full time) setting and I have a few videos when I moved the camera to another subject, I lose focus and it takes 15 to 20 seconds to get it back. I don't have any issues with picture auto focus and I never had an issue with video on a previous point and shoot camera.

Anyone else having this problem? Any solutions?

Answer:
It is recommended that when shooting video, the video should be manually focused. When shooting in P,S,A, or M, the focus mode can be changed to manual when pressing down on the macro button. once manual focus (MF) is selected, the video can be focused with the dial on the back of the camera.

3D is listed as feature with MPO file support. How does it work, esp. since it's only a single lens camera ? Will the 3D effect work in this kind of a setup or it's just another feature to add? Won't it be a 'miss' most of the time, with little or no depth ? Does it support 3D video also ?

Answer:
The camera takes one picture for each eye to simulate a three-dimensional image on a 3D-compatible TV or monitor. After pressing the shutter-release button to shoot the first frame, move the camera horizontally to the right until the guide on the screen overlaps the subject. The camera automatically captures the second image when it detects that the subject is aligned with the guide. More information on the P300's 3D feature can be found on page 43 of the User's Manual: https://support.nikonusa.com/app/an...

Remote control of Nikon P330 (wired or USB OTG)

Dear Nikon team,

Could you please tell me if the Nikon P330 can be controlled remotely? (WIRED - Most of the wired remote seem to be incompatible...but it is not always the case). If yes, would it be possible to recommend a remote control? The camera has excellent capabilities for night sky photography, and a remote timer would really help, also with respect to timelapse.

I can control it with the WMU application for Android, using the Wi-Fi WU-1a adaptor, but this does not help, as the application only uses the camera in Auto mode (wonder why...)

IMPORTANT: is it possible to connect it to a smartphone, using a USB OTG? Technically it is easily done, but then is it possible to trigger the shutter through the phone?

Thank you in advance for your help

Answer:
Nikon operates factories all across the globe and each operates to the same high standard.  While individual cameras are marked with their country of manufacture, we cannot make a blanket statement about the country of origin of a specific type/model of camera.
