Photos and Full HD videos only a Nikon can capture

The brilliant image quality of a Nikon camera

So many moments deserve the superior image quality and zoom power of a camera. With the COOLPIX S800c, you no longer have to choose between great photos and connectivity—you get both! Shoot beautiful 16.0 megapixel photos and Full HD (1080p) videos, even in low light conditions. With a 10x optical Zoom-NIKKOR ED glass lens, zoom in to telephoto distances (25-250mm) and make faraway objects appear right in front of you. Forget about blurry images—Optical VR image stabilization means a little camera shake won't keep you from taking sharp photos. And when you're in a tricky shooting situation, let Scene Modes optimize the camera settings for you.

bluetooth don't work i am a Nikon fan. I have 4 nikon camera: D800, D7000, cool pix s3500 and recently purchased s800c. The only weak point in s800 is it,s bluetooth setting. I couldn,t set it,s conection with other divices. At all s800c is an excellent camera.don,t hasitate... Buy it. April 2, 2014
Great for uploading pics to social media I would recommend this camera to anyone who is familiar with smartphones. I myself have an android, though I found this camera really easy to use. I am a blogger and use Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram regularly and this camera is able to upload pictures straight to them using the local wifi. I bought this camera for mine and my daughter's first vacation and wanted a better way to share the pictures with my friends and family through social media while we were on our trip, instead of waiting until we got home. I have finally found the camera for me. May 13, 2013
Great camera! This camera is a great camera for somebody who wants a good camera. I love the features it has like the built in GPS, google play store so you could put games on your camera etc. great camera for the price. I'm writing the review on the camera right now!. I know people have said it takes long for the camera to come on at first it does but it hasn't taken long at all since.not a bulky big camera like some other cameras which I personally like. Very portable, the wifi runs fast and it takes great quality pictures!. Hope you like your nikon s800c like I do December 29, 2012
first camera in anroid it is a very good model,it is a camera with like asmart phones and it has a better megapixel and zoom, you can download any application and i like this model of nikon October 12, 2012
NewUser I just purchased this camera yesterday and am anxious to learn how to use all the special features. The camera seems to have a lot of potential...I love the GPS feature especially. I am hoping to find plenty of helpful videos to get me started. January 28, 2014

Answer:
The difference in the maximum aperture between both cameras is less than a quater of a stop, which means both camera will perform the same in low light. They are the same when it comes to just taking pictures. If you are tired of taking pictures with the S6400, all you can do is store it away, but if you are tire of taking pictures with the S800c, you can hit the gogle store directly from the camera and download some fun apps. The real difference here is the Green guy. With WIFI and Android, you can do a whole lot more. Downlad and play games on the S800c. Instant upload pics to social media, facebook, you name it. Using apps like Ustream, you can stream live video recordings anyone anywhere in the world with internet connection can watch live as you record. family, friends, you name it. And by the way, those effect on the S6400, there are free apps that can be dowload from the google store which does the same, No computer needed. you can also upload pics to your ipad, no wire needed. Go for the S800c. I have one and I love it!!!!!!

Answer:
The S6400 has the following Quick Effects: Pop,Super Vivid, Toy camera effect 1, Toy camera effect 2, High key, Low key, Cross process (red), Cross process (yellow), Cross process (green), Cross process (blue), Soft, Fisheye, Cross screen, Miniature effect, High-contrast monochrome, Sepia, Cyanotype and Selective Color.

The S800C does not have a Quick Effects option but can apply the following special effects filters: Soft, Sepia, High-contrast monochrome, High key, Low key. It is also able to apply these filters after a picture is taken: Vivid, Black and white, Sepia, Cyanotype, Soft, Selective Color, Cross-Screen, Fisheye and Miniature effect.

Both the S6400 and S800C have CMOS sensors and ISO ranges of 125-3200 for excellent low-light performance. They also both have Night Portrait, Night Landscape, Fireworks and Dusk/Dawn Scene modes which will automatically optimize the camera's settings for the selected scene.

The best way to compare these 2 cameras is to use the Compare option on Nikonusa.com. Go to the below page, check off the cameras you wish to compare then click "Compare Now" to see the specs for these cameras side-by-side: http://www.nikonusa.com/en/Nikon-Pr...

Answer:
This is not an answer, it is rather my concern regarding the above issue. I just got the S800c for Christmas and the main reason I was attracted to this camera is the wifi connectivity. I travel a lot and wanted to email my pics directly from it when in wifi zone. I don't have a smart phone and I didn't intend to own one. Hence the Coolpix S800c seemed a perfect solution. The Nikon answer to the above question suggests that while it works in North America, there might be problems overseas ? How come my internet on iPad works fine no matter where I am in the world ? Or maybe I misunderstood something here ?

Answer:
You can download the 'Connect to S800C' app from google play store. It can be use together with the Upload application on the S800c home screen to view pictures and transfer them wirelessly from the S800c to another android device such as a smart phone or tablet. However, you cannot use the phone to control shooting with the S800c wirelessly.

Answer:
The camera portion of the S800C does not include an image captioning option but the touchscreen is used to type info into any of the Adroid apps that you may download to the smart device portion. For example, Nikon's myPicturetown app will display the touchscreen keyboard for renaming and tagging images. The handling of GPS tagging will vary from app to app, for example myPicturetown will flag images that have GPS information and will display GPS images on a map.

How can I use features from Facebook, Google+, Cloudvault, Drobpox, that automatically upload pictures via WIFI?

It seems that when the screen turns off after its default 1 second, wifi turns off as well. Changing the wifi settings to "never turn off" in the Android advanced wifi settings does not make a difference. The instant upload from these apps is immediately halted after a minute.

To make matters worse, there doesn't seem to be a way to charge and use the Android OS at the same time. This eliminates the only work around I can think about to the above problem. Plugging the camera in to allow WIFI to stay on doesn't seem to work.

Answer:
You can change your display setting to have the camera stay on longer. From the home screen, press SETTINGS, then look for DISPLAY and press it, then look for DISPLAY OFF and press it. There you can choose a time longer than 15 seconds.

Answer:
The S800C does not have an option to record Points of Interest via GPS. The GPS will log Latitude, Longitude, Altitude, Altitude Reference, Heading, Universal Time and Map Datum. The way the GPS data is displayed will vary depending on the method used to view the image. For example, when viewed through Nikon View NX2 the information can be be viewed either in the meta data or on a map.

Can the S800c be set to upload or transfer a series of photos and how long does each photo take?

I read a comment on a forum that indicated photos had to be uploaded one at a time. At that rate, a day's shooting would take a very long time if that were true. Similarly, if files take a minute each to upload, it would take an hour to transfer 60 photos. That could create battery issues.

Answer:
You can pick which to download and they will download one at a time until all downloaded or you can check download all and they will all download one at a time. Speed depends on router speed 802.11a will run at 5 Mbps 802.11g at 20 Mbps and 802.11n at 25 Mbps. The it depends on the processor in the receiving device. Average 16 mp photo is 6.5 mb. It should take no longer than 10 seconds per photo.

Some important things noticed so far:

When coming out of standby mode, the camera takes 30 seconds (a lifetime for a photographer!!) to fully get into the chosen shooting mode.

The camera freezes often coming out of Standby and also switching between shooting and playback modes after recently coming out of standby.

Some shooting modes make important controls unavailable, for example in monochrome shooting, I cannot access ISO

Will this camera provide for live streaming video over the internet with the wifi connection to a 3G or 4G phone via bluetooth? Looking for better video capabilities than a smartphone to support viewing of sports activities over the internet with sites like Veetle etc. In particular, the ability to zoom would be a big benefit.

Answer:
Nikon Does not have an official application for streaming with the Coolpix S800c. However, there are third party applications out there that can be use with the S800c for streaming. After reviewing your question, we did a test with Veetle adroid application and it did not work with the S800c. We then tested the Ustream application, and it worked very well using wifi connection.

If you plan on streaming using a mobile connection; 3g or 4g connection, how well the device perform depends on your internet connection speed.

Answer:
The COOLPIX S800C can shoot full HD movies. The movie information from the technical specifications are as follows:
Audio file format: AAC stereo
Full HD: 1920x1080p / 30fps
HD: 1280x720p / 30fps
Movie file format: MPEG-4 AVC H.264
Standard TV: 640x480 / 30fps

You cannot take a still photo while recording movies on the S800C. After uploading your movie to a computer you can choose to save a single frame as an image using software such as Nikon View NX2. Even when shooting in full HD you may encounter blurry individual frames because of camera movement and re-focusing.

Answer:
The S800C has several scene modes specifically for use at night: Night Portrait, Night Landscape and Fireworks Show. There is also a Sunset mode and a Dusk/Dawn mode.

When one of these modes is selected the camera will make the necessary adjustments to get you an incredible picture, automatically. With all of these modes the use of a tripod is recommended to prevent blurring caused by the use of slow shutter speeds.

The Image Quality options available with all of these modes are:
4608×3456
3264×2448
2272×1704
1600×1200
640×480
4608×2592
1920×1080

We have all of our photos currently stored with Shutterfly. Does anyone know, or have experience with, directly uploading photos from this camera to Shutterfly? It would be great to be able to take a photo and post it directly to our Share site. Thanks!
