Your photos and HD movies will be sharp and clear thanks to the S6300’s versatile 10x optical Zoom-NIKKOR glass lens (25–250mm) with built-in optical VR Image Stabilization technology.

Capture all the family action

High-resolution 16.0 MP CMOS sensor

With the S6300’s 16.0 MP CMOS sensor, awesome images can be shot under challenging low-light conditions. Capture spontaneous fast action with this highly responsive camera. Best yet, upload to the Web to share your memories with everyone.

Amazing!

Make it fun for all

A host of in-camera Special Effects

Apply in-camera Special Effects such as Low Key, High Key, Nostalgic Sepia, even Selective Color to add a creative touch to images and movies. Or, add a creative Filter Effect like Fisheye or Miniature to your still shots in playback.

IT is Great fun and good ------------------------------------- May 23, 2014
Great for all my needs! I am a jewelry designer/metalsmith. This camera works for all my up close photos of jewelry and tutorials that I make. The audio is amazing. I record my guitar player/hubby at his shows and it records audio beautifully. I highly recommend this camera. I have been using it for over two years now. And I have to admit I have dropped it several times and it's still working great. Thank goodness. December 14, 2013
great camera for a compact I really like that image quality and the battery life is great took 400 pic at a weeding (moderate zoom light flash, and light video taking) The size is great to take on trips September 25, 2013
My S6300 is AMAZING! I use this camera at work and for personal pictures. I take photos for several online auction sites and website photos, as well as using it for family pictures and vacations. I absolutely love the S6300. It's been one of the only cameras that I've ever kept around instead of using my phone. I'm by no means a professional photographer or anything like that, but as far as personal use goes this is DEFINITELY a good camera. I would recommend this to anyone looking for an easy to use, good quality camera. August 1, 2013
Great camera! Love the size, ease of use, and the quality of the pictures! May 27, 2013

Answer:
Depth-of-field is controlled by several factors. The first is the lens aperture or ƒ/stop. The aperture is a variable sized hole which allows light into the camera. The larger the hole, the more light that enters. The smaller the hole, the less light that enters. The size of the hole also determines the amount of depth-of-field. The larger the hole, the less depth-of-field. The smaller the hole, the more depth-of-field. This model of Coolpix has pre-set settings. You can use one of the scene modes, try different settings to see which one will work for the type of photography you’re looking for.

I have the S6200 and love it for the selective color or color select. However, it seems to take long to record a photo and long to reset to take the next photo. My son plays soccer and I need to rapid shoot a little more. Will the S6300 be better for this, and does it definately have color select.
Thank you!

Yes, the COOLPIX S6300 has the Selective Color feature. With every release of new product we work to enhance the start up time so the cameras will be faster - not only to start up - but in shot to shot times as well.

I love my camera, great quality, sharp images... the problem is while I'm filming, the video will suddenly blur, and the only way I can focus it again is to zoom in and zoom out. Quite annoying. Especially when it makes you miss your little brother's especially excellent boy band move when he's singing One Direction....
Is there a setting I need to change... or is this just my camera...?

I just received my Nikon S6300 in the mail today and I plugged it into it's adapter for it to charge. Granted it's been over the 3 hr, 50 min charge time, but my camera will not turn on even if I press the on button. It's like I never charged it. Do I go back to the store where I purchased this camera, or is there a trick to turning it back on? Thanks.

When I first got my camera, the photo display time after I took a picture was very minimal. As I have used the camera more, the photo display time has increased. Is there a specific setting so that the picture is not displayed at all (or for a shorter amount of time) after it has been taken unless I click the view button?

Hello, I am from India.
I have used Nikon's earlier model Coolpix L10. Then I changed to Sony DSC WX-50. At present I am using Sony's cam. As there are some issues with my present cam, I am not satisfied with it. So, now I am planning to buy Nikon Coolpix S6300.
I want to know is there any "Background Defocus" option, in scene modes, in Nikon Coolpix S6300.
Thanks.

Answer:
The soft-focus background effect that you are referring to is called 'bokeh' and is primarily controlled by the aperture setting. While some scene modes and shooting situations may result in a bokeh effect, there is no specific control for this in the S6300. You may want to consider a COOLPIX that offers manual exposure control since these cameras will let you control your aperture setting. To find COOLPIX cameras with this option go to the following page and narrow the results by choosing the "Manual Exposure Control" feature.
http://www.nikonusa.com/en/Nikon-Pr...

Nikon DSLRs and Nikon1 Cameras also allow you to control your aperture and thus create a bokeh effect. You can find an informative article about bokeh at the following page on Nikonusa.com: http://www.nikonusa.com/en/Learn-An...

I just got this s6300 camera and wanted to know if my model is bad or if this is typical of the camera. When I hit the playback button the camera takes a really long time to "think" before it switches to playback. And it's NOT waiting to finish recording. I know that can happen but the camera tells you that is happening. The delay I'm talking about happens anytime you hit the playback button even if you haven't recently taken a picture or video. Please advise.

Answer:
Please make sure you are using an approved memory card in the S6300 by checking the link below.
http://support.nikonusa.com/app/ans....

1)Turn the S6300 off, remove the memory card and turn the S6300 back on.

2)Press the camera menu button, and there should be three icons lined up vertically on the far left of the screen: Shooting Menu( Camera Icon), Video(Camcorder Icon), and Setup (Wrench tool).

3)Scroll down and highlight 'Setup' (wrench tool) using the multi selector, and press OK.

3) From the setup menu, scroll down to highlight 'Format Memory' and press OK, then highlight 'Format' and press OK.

4)From the setup menu scroll down and highlight 'Reset All', and press OK, then highlight 'Reset' and press OK.

Take a few pictures using the camera internal memory, then press the playback button to see how the camera reacts. You can also try taking pictures using a different approved memory card. If the issue persist, please contact technical support. Technical support contact information can be found at support.nikonusa.com

Thank you for answering my first question Nikon Lawrence. I will try the suggestions that I haven't already tried. I did want to give more details though. I am using an approved SD card. I only have the slow playback when the SD card is in the camera. I have taken photos using the internal memroy and it does not have the same issue. It shows the playback right away. So although I am using an approved SD card, it still may very well be the card. I have class 4 cards, but have ordered a class 10 card to see if that makes a difference. If it's the same then it may be a camera issue when the card is in. Thoughts? Advice?
