Great Camera with very High Quality!!! I am very surprised with the sharp high quality photos you can get with this camera. The ISO works very well up to 800. I would not recomend this camera if you want a simple compact point and shoot. This camera is more for a manual type of shooting, I don't even know why is it considered a point and shoot. The camera functions makes it very easy to use. It is a perfect travel all purpose non-DSLR camera with very high quality resolution. This samples were shot in manual mode with the highest resolution jpeg and compressed for uploading purpose. (Please note that two of the samples are focused at different point for focus illustration at 180mm) April 13, 2012
Small and Powerful! Excellent pictures, powerful zoom and many pictures options! April 9, 2012
Two days and WOW! My P510 is only two days old and I am really stoked on its excellent picture quality and ease of use. With a big trip coming up in a couple of weeks I wanted the best possible camera I could find that was high quality, compact, light-weight and very affordable. I found it. April 7, 2012
What a wonderful surprise I just purchased this camera yesterday from Best Buy. I have owned several Nikon cameras from SLR's, compact digital and the coolpix. This one really surprised me with the sharpness of the pictures, ease of use, size and a good price. I did read the reviews before I purchased, and I really can't agree with some of the negative reviews. It is a wonderful camera in all aspects including the video. April 3, 2012
AWESOME this camera is absolutely awesome.. i couldn't believe the power of that zoom,my father has d7000 and believe or not the p510 took more clear pictures when the zoom was set on 800-1000mm ... the pictures are perfect in low iso and when you shoot in darker places(high iso) just set the flash on ''behind curtain'' mode and it does tremendous pictures.. the battery is also good.. with one battery i was taking pictures almost day.. very pleased with this item.. and for this price i highly recommend this product April 2, 2012
A Camera That Can Be Called...."The Miracle Worker" I own the gorgeous and vibrant red model and I am going to be the talk of the town with this Nikon Coolpix P510. Reality hasn't set in, yet, for most of the populace that a camera exists with a 42x zoom. This camera takes amazing photos and you don't have to be burdened with carrying a couple of lenses in order to get the equivalent of a 1,000 mm range that is already incorporated on this camera. This camera does it all! I can't wait to see an upcoming TV commercial with Ashton Kutcher promoting the Nikon Coolpix P510. March 30, 2012
Absolutely a BEST BUY I would put the pictures up against cameras costing 3 times more. Truly awesome clarity, fast action, massive zoom, manual and automatic settings, and full featured for every camera buff including GPS. After owning several other brands over the years, I am back to Nikon, and to stay. This is truly a best buy. March 28, 2012
nice features I purchased this camera 2 weeks ago. I love it. The best zoom you can get, with v. good quality. Worth it! March 28, 2012
Amazing Camera! This is seriously an amazing camera. I can be sitting inside of my house and take a picture of a bird across the street in perfect clarity. It takes amazing panorama pictures and videos with high definition and sound. I would tell a friend to get this in a second. This takes stunning still photographs as well as action shots when in the sports setting. Even after uploading the pictures onto my computer I was worried that even though they were clear on the camera that they might turn out blurry yet they were crystal clear. The only thing that I would wish this camera would have, is being able to be waterproof, yet you can't ask for everything and I'm sure there is some underwater housing for it. I have never been happier with a camera! March 25, 2012
Excellent Excellent pictures, lots of features, fun to learn, lightweight. Great picture quality. March 25, 2012
Amazing Camera - Unbelievable price! Okay so I was thinking about buying the Nikon P510. Searching the Internet for any and all reviews, but nobody had a "hands on" review, yet. I had purchased the Canon SX40 IS... the chromatic aberrations were horrendous! Almost ever picture had that aweful purple fringing! I sold it on ebay and got most of my money back. So...here we go again...Nikon, Fuji, Canon?, Panasonic... They all had the typical good, bad and the ugly comments..but which one. For some reason I really liked the Nikon cameras I have had in the past. I had the Coolpix 5000 and that was a great camera for it's time, and at least one other Nikon. I have probably owned at least 25 digital cameras, everything from Fuji (W3 3d), Olympus, Kodak, Canon, Espon... I currently have 10 digital cameras to include a Canon D5 MarkII. I would buy a new camera each time a new "bigger, better" one came out or so it seemed for awhile... So, realizing some of the Nikon P510's flaws...no remote shutter control, no raw files... I went on my hunch! I purchased this camera and here are some of the shots... I think you'll be amazed - I was! I recommend this mighty little camera to anyone I know! It's just Awesome! March 24, 2012
A+ Great Product & Cutting Edge Technology for this Modern World!! March 23, 2012
Great Camera The Most Amazing Camera With x41 Zoom And 16.1 MP ! Its Reallly Ammaazzziinng !!!! March 23, 2012

Great features I really like this camera. The effect are wonderful, mainly the "soft" one. The details are very clear. June 17, 2012
Awesome I just bought this camera just believing it will be good..but its insanely awesome..basically i am a wildlife photographer.....the zoom is incredible for capturing animals at far distance...manual focusing is really good, capture images with razor sharp quality......automode is very good captures images very nicely.........macromode on this camera is incredible..it can take photos images that are so close.....thanks to nikon youve done a great work..worth the money....video always need the manual mode if u want to get a good video.....i strictly recommend this product! May 23, 2012
Excellent value for a versatile camera I've wanted an upgrade to my earlier Coolpix which included a viewfinder as the screen was difficult to use in sunny conditions. This camera has both a flexible mount screen useable in full sunlight as well as a viewfinder. It even has a diopter adjustment for those of us with less than perfect eyesight! The zoom is smooth and fast and focus seems to be very accurate in most cases. Where it's unable to focus there's always a manual focus option. Tremendous! May 16, 2012
Excellent package!!! Thanks for all the reviews and blogs, also for this perfect site, I do relied on you.. Got it yesterday, and been exploring everything about this camera. Few months ago, I had been eyeing for a different brand, not when I personally compared it with Nikon. People have told so much about this camera, but there's one thing I love about Nikon, it's the grip! May 5, 2012
Possibilidade impressionantes! Adorei o produto, minha mãe acertou no presente!!

May 20, 2012
Realmente os modos automáticos surpreendem May 15, 2012
J'adore! May 14, 2012
May 14, 2012

Answer:
Those are not threads. They are there just to hold the lens cap. There are some adapters out there however they are either bulky or junk. I myself am waiting for something decent. It seems as though I am not alone on this, just google p510 filter adapter. Hey Nikon how about stepping up with an adapter?

Of course I understand that printers are different, but a little detail on the basic PDF print settings required would be extremely helpful! My goal is to print out the pages in correct order to make a booklet that is printed on standard 8-1/2 x 11 paper, landscape, and would be 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 after folding the sheets in half, or cutting and comb binding them.

Alternatively, could you offer a printed manual at additional cost for those of us who would see the value in that and pay for it?

Thank you!

Answer:
Those are the settings for double sided printing, that's what the booklet subset is for- select both sides and printer will do the rest. If your printer doesn't due double side, pause printing and flip over paper.

Thanks Joe!
One thing not clear: this doesn't print on both sides of the paper, right? So, would I need to print just "front side only" and then turn over and run through again for the back side? Probably reverse order?

Answer:
By default the GPS isn't (or at least wasn't) on...you can turn it off though I'm not sure how much that will help you. I rarely have the GPS on (which does hog the proprietary battery's resources) and don't do much better than your image count with limited use (10-15% of shots) of the flash. Also, the battery indicator doesn't seem to be especially accurate. It goes from full to half and then empty in a very short time frame, with little indicated in between. It's a shame that Nikon couldn't do better with the battery considering where the technology is these days, or at least allow the option for AA battery format so I could actually afford to keep some extra charged batteries in my bag. Not making things any easier is the lack of an external charger that they could have included for a couple of $ more in cost.

The GPS option can be turn Off (default setting is Off). If Record GPS data is set to On while a log is recorded using Create Log, GPS functions even when the camera is turned off and that will take power of your battery.

Many many years ago I loved my coolpix 800 (with filters and additional lens), The coolpix 4300 was not a bad camera either, but the following coolpixes couldn't compare to the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 (which takes filters) I had next... I was hoping this was the camera would be my replacement and my return to Nikon, but it seems not.

I would also love to use a polarizing filter. That's one thing that is simply not effective to add post-production. I was all set to purchase this camera until learning filters cannot be used. I will gladly wait til the next version. Seems there are MANY people who want filters judging by the number of times that question has been posted here.

Answer:
Panasonic FZ seies are but a few P&S cameras left on the market that puts a thread to put filters on their lenses and most are high end stuff. One of the main reasons for doing so is most of the filter effects can be added post edit and also the design reasons. Most P&S in 9xxx, 8xxx, 6xxx, 4xxx, 3xxx series are such that the lens retracts completely, flush with the body. You can't do that when you havea filter hanging off the lens. I suspect they will never put
this feature into any of their P&S cameras. Even mgazoom like P500 and L120, which are similar to Panasonic FZ series do not have them. But lacking a filter thread should not be a deal-breaker for whether you choose to buy Nikon or not.
