Wonderful things come in small packages! I am really glad I got this camera. And I have gotten so many compliments on the pictures and even expert friends are impressed with this camera. I uploaded a video of images and videos taken with this camera on Youtube. Some of those were the best I have ever taken. June 19, 2014
Thank You NIKON! This little camera is great! It looks very simple but with great performance. I'm always using my smartphone in taking photos before but I'm not satisfied with the results but since I bought and used this camera, I'm very satisfied and love the photos I'm getting from it. More people are liking my photos. There was a time when we had a Summer Outing and some of my companions are using big DSLR cameras (from different brands) in taking photos- I was kinda get insecure at first but I took photos anyway, and the time all of us uploaded our taken photos in facebook more people liked and praising my photos than my DSLR user companions. My photos look sharper than them specially at night time. This camera changed my photo taking experience. Thank you very much Nikon! and I will look forward to my next camera purchase from you.
Quanto à filmagem, obtive excelentes resultado no modo automático e programado e todos no modo normal. Excelente câmera, nota máxima. M.Leandro February 26, 2013

Answer:
Pixel: An abbreviation for picture element, it represents the basic building block of every image. It helps to think of pixels as tiny individual blocks or squares, each having a specific color and each one touching the next to form a color image. Effective Pixels in the P310 is 16.1 millions. Please see the user's manual regarding image size.

Underwater Housing

Nikon,
Just bought the Coolpix P310. I was talked out of the Canon S100, which was the camera I had gone to originally get. What sold me was the better F/1.8 lens on the p310.

I intend to use this camera for scuba diving and want to buy an underwater case. Needless to say I was shocked when I got home and not a single hit for an underwater housing for this guy.

Help!
Do you know any manufacturer making an underwater case for this?
If there aren't any currently out is there a plan for one in the future?

I don't want to have to return it for the canon - there's at least 3 options of cases for canon's S100!

Yes, the P310 has both Easy Panorama and Panorama Assist modes.

To clarify my previous question, it is true that when the individual video clips are taken they are in MOV format. However, when you assemble a movie out of several clips and include transitions the resulting file is NOT a MOV file but it is tagged an NMF file. When I try to use one of the many available converters they will not accept this file as an MOV file. So, I have a movie made up of 10 max MOV files that can not be burned to DVD. I have tried 15 different converters including Quick Time. Please tell me how to do it.

Answer:
When you are using the Movie Editor in View NX2 your movie project is saved as an NMF file. This is a project file that you can then reopen and continue the editing process. Once you are done editing go to File>Create Movie or click the Create Movie icon in order to export and save your project as an MOV file.

Have a kitchen remodel project requiring several weeks of time lapse pictures. Wondering how long a P310 will last b4 battery needs a charge. Interval is set at five minutes. Read somewhere that it can do 230 shots on one charge, so 24 hours would be 288 shots so battery would last less than a day? or does time lapse have some sort of power conserve feature between shots? It won't power on when cord is plugged in (already checked that).

Answer:
Since the COOLPIX P310 wasn't designed for underwater photography it does not include the Underwater Scene that is available on Nikon's underwater cameras. However, here are a couple of articles from the Learn and Explore section of Nikonusa.com that have tips and ideas for underwater shooting:

Basic Underwater Photography
http://www.nikonusa.com/en/Learn-An...

Underwater Photography - Tips and Ideas
http://www.nikonusa.com/en/Learn-An...

You will probably need to test different white balance settings to compensate for the blue hue that is normal in underwater photography. White balance settings can only be changed when the L810 is in Auto (not Easy Auto) mode.

We'd also recommend checking with the manufacturer of your third party housing for tips and advice on how to make the most of their product.

Answer:
Please make sure you are using an approved memory card in the P310 by checking the link below.
http://support.nikonusa.com/app/ans...

1)Turn the P310 off, remove the memory card and turn the P310 back on.

2)Press the camera menu button, then Scroll down and highlight 'Setup menu' (wrench tool) using the multi selector, and press OK.

3) From the setup menu, scroll down to highlight 'Format Memory' and press OK, then highlight 'Format' and press OK.

4)From the setup menu scroll down and highlight 'Reset All', and press OK, then highlight 'Reset' and press OK.

Take a few pictures using the camera internal memory, then press the playback button to see how the camera reacts. You can also try taking pictures using a different approved memory card. Answer:
Yes.
Just don't exposed to temperatures below –10°C (14°F) or above 50°C (122°F)
Also, Sudden changes in temperature, such as when entering or leaving a heated building on a cold day, can cause condensation to form inside the camera. To prevent condensation, place the camera in a carrying case or a plastic bag before exposing it to sudden changes in temperature.

I bought a 32G memory card, for a sweetheart of a deal when I bought the camera, but the card seems to be too large for the camera and the camera won't turn on when it is installed.
