Fine camera, clumsy, hard-to-use manual on a CD With my Nikon S600, I took its small, compact manual with me whenever I traveled. Even with my D5000 I can take the manual with me. Now this option does not exist. I will have to carry about lots of pages that I have printed. If a printed manual were available, even for a price, I'd buy it in a flash. I hope Nikon changes their policy of making the manual available only on a CD. April 6, 2012

Answer:
Pixel: An abbreviation for picture element, it represents the basic building block of every image. It helps to think of pixels as tiny individual blocks or squares, each having a specific color and each one touching the next to form a color image. Effective Pixels in the P310 is 16.1 millions. Please see the user's manual regarding image size.

The COOLPIX P310 only records JPEG. You may want to check the COOLPIX P7100, RAW and JPEG can be recorded simultaneously.

Answer:
This model of Coolpix has pre-set settings. You can use one of the scene modes settings to see which one will work for the type of photography you’re looking for. Also, you can control the settings by choosing Program, Aperture or Shutter priority or Manual Mode.

Underwater Housing

Nikon,
Just bought the Coolpix P310. I was talked out of the Canon S100, which was the camera I had gone to originally get. What sold me was the better F/1.8 lens on the p310.

I intend to use this camera for scuba diving and want to buy an underwater case. Needless to say I was shocked when I got home and not a single hit for an underwater housing for this guy.

Help!
Do you know any manufacturer making an underwater case for this?
If there aren't any currently out is there a plan for one in the future?

I don't want to have to return it for the canon - there's at least 3 options of cases for canon's S100!

The manual doesn't say which is best. Should I generally be using the "green" full auto mode or is there any advantage to using "Auto Scene" mode?

Please explain the advantanges/disadvantages of each. I purchased this camera for my wife to use as a good, simple general use camera. The manual has not been much help to us.
