Incredible reach and versatility

18x optical Zoom-NIKKOR ED glass lens

Explore new horizons with a far-reaching 18x zoom. Zoom in to create a colorful still life display of trinkets and charms inside a covered market, then zoom out and frame a stunning wide-angle sunset. The S9300 boasts an 18x optical Zoom-NIKKOR ED glass lens (25–450mm) with optical VR Image Stabilization, which minimizes the chance of blur when shooting photos and movies.

Superb low-light shooting

High-resolution 16.0 MP CMOS sensor

The S9300’s 16.0 megapixel CMOS sensor expertly manages high-resolution imagery, delivering the exceptional image quality you expect from Nikon. Even when shooting in low light, the photos and movies you create will be so vibrant, they’ll transport you back to the instant they were created. The backside-illuminated CMOS sensor technology increases the flow of light to the sensor’s surface, thereby yielding improved image quality and reduced noise.

Memories in motion

Full HD (1080p) movies with 18x zoom, continuous autofocus and stereo sound

Recall the sights and sounds of the nightlife in Cancun or the unique mood of a rain forest. With a single touch of a button, record Full HD (1080p) movies with stereo sound. Continuous autofocus keeps your moving subject in focus, and the S9300’s full 18x optical zoom range with two-speed control is available during movie recording. Bring new creative looks to still images by applying a filter effect like Fisheye or Miniature. The best part: you can instantly share your creations with fellow travelers as they gather around the S9300’s large, high-resolution 3.0-in. LCD monitor.

Capture fast moving subjects

High-speed shooting

When your subject is fast-action, you need a camera that can keep up. The S9300 can capture up to 7 shots in approximately one second. That once-in-a-lifetime moment will be captured forever.
Stunning panoramic photo shot with the COOLPIX S9300's Easy Panorama Mode

Panoramas at the touch of a button

Easy Panorama Mode for stunning panoramic photos

Creating expansive panoramic photos has never been easier. Easy Panorama Mode combines multiple shots into a seamless 180° or 360° panoramic image. Begin by focusing on your starting point, then simply pan across the scene. Once the S9300 detects your direction, the shooting starts and the images begin stitching together in-camera.

Great for size I love my Nikon Coolpix s9300; it does very well for the price and size. I use it as often as I can and am very happy with my purchase. April 19, 2013
my camera :) one of the best camera in the world,i`ve funn & good time with nikoon April 2, 2013
Awesome Little Camera I really love this camera. I was tired of carrying my big DSLR camera around so I thought this would be a good camera to get. I love the video and the zoom. I've taken a lot of cool pictures with this camera and have made a lot of cool movies too. I also love the actual feel of this camera, it has this sort of rubber feel to it that makes it feel like you are not going to drop it. Overall, this is amazing. March 10, 2013
Great camera Regardless of size this is a great camera. The zoom is awesome it gets you right there. Can't say anything bad about it. February 24, 2013
very nice worth the money This is an excellent little camera. The zoom feature will get you so close you will need a rest to shoot the picture. Pictures are very good and clear. The few bad shots were operator error. The only drawback is when the battery indicator say's low battery it means NOW. I could not figure out the GPS feature February 18, 2013

The S9100 has a release switch on the side that manually pops up the hidden flash. When it's no longer needed, the flash can be retracted manually by pushing it back down into the camera. The S8200 also has a hidden flash, but it pops up automatically when needed. It can only be retracted by turning off the camera and not by pushing it back down manually. Which method is used by the S9300?

My son on the east coast went to use his camera today and first the LCD wasn't working with what he described as water in it. And there is water behind the lens, too. This camera is only a few months old.
Humidity? Is it ruined? This shouldn't happen.

Answer:
This model of Coolpix has pre-set settings. You can use one of the scene modes settings to see which one will work for the type of photography you’re looking for.

At high zoom level, the auto-focus goes in & out and then stops when its out of focus. Any fix for that? Just got the camera yesterday and it's going back today if there's no fix.

How do you make the GPS logging function consistently work?

I use the camera’s GPS log function to record hikes I make. It works perfectly. It does everything I need it to do. However, I cannot get it to consistently work. Sometimes the GPS log is only 4 kb, and only contains the GPS header info. The instruction manual has a very simple process for creating a log file. Maybe it is too simple

I try very had to set the camera up exactly the same way each time I use it, and sometimes its works, and sometimes it doesn’t. The camera is receiving GPS data because each photo has GPS data attached to it. It would be nice if there was a way to confirm the log function was working...

NOTE: I do download a new updates GPS A-file from the internet regularly. The manual says it updates faster with the updated GPS A-file, it should say it only works with an updated file.

Answer:
Since I have not received any answers to this question, I will provide some updates on ways I have found to increase the reliability.

1. Download and install the GPS "A" file just before you do any critical GPS work. Without a very current GPS "A" file the camera takes forever to acquire GPS signals.

2. Start the GPS log function by deleting all GPS Logs. When you start the log it should offer you a choice of 6-12 or 24 hours. If it just starts the log; delete that log and start over. After you start the log; look carefully at the display. On the screen, there should be an icon for a satellite, the bar beside the satellite that represents the number of GPS satellites in view, - and the letters "LOC"

3. Take a picture. Turn the camera off. Turn the camera back on, -and verify the LOC icon is still there.

Check and verify the LOC icon for the 1st 5-10 minutes. Sometimes, it simply goes away for some unknown reason. Once the LOC icon remains there for over 5 minutes, I have never had it go away. If it does go away, go through all the steps to get it back.

4. Updating the GPS "A" file can be a bit tricky until go get the hang of it. Be sure the file you transfer to the NCFL folder on your memory card is NCS_07Aee. If you leave a previously downloaded"A" file on you computer; you operating system may rename the new download to something like NCS-07Aee(1).. The camera will ONLY recognize the file name NCS_07Aee

After you install the new GPS "A" file on your memory card, ask the software to update it. The software will tell you not to remove the memory card from the camera. That is usually the only message you will ever get. Wait 10-15 minutes for the camera to shut down. Turn on the camera and go to the Update GPS menu and see if the new current date is there. Once out of a dozen updates, I got a message saying update was successful. They all were successful ( at least those with the correct file name), but the camera never tells you so.

I do not know if you need a view of GPS satellites for the GPS "A" file update function to work. I assume you do not, but I put the camera at a window, - just in case.

When it works, it provides great data. Using the GPS Log and the mapping software, you can create some great pictures.

I hope some of this helps. I also hope Nikon fixes some of the bugs in this product...
