So amazing! I just bought this camera. I live in NC and we don't get snow so when I got my camera when we got some snow. I started snapping pictures and its amazing. The quailty of the pictures taken are just so beautiful and clear even in the dark! February 17, 2013
love the compact camera with big features!! When my husband returned from military deployment overseas we went on our very 1st cruise!!!Been married for 25 yrs! So I was on the market for a slim camera that has a lot of features to take on the cruise. I found it in this one!! Easy to use and soo many features!! Pictures of the cruise were amazing!!The stylus for looking back at pictures is a good touch!! The scroll option - well done!!The pre view screen is huge! The box on different faces is very good!! Group shots turned out very well!!! The camera body being purple is a good plus!! (my favorite color!!) The quality of the camera in my opinion was well above the price paid!! Since the cruise I have used it for picture taking at the beach, family gatherings, our sons sporting events and everyday moments!!Thanks Nikon!!!Well done!!! January 31, 2013
s4300 This camera is amazing! It has so many features to choose from such as color effects and also the soft glow for pictures and the picture quality is fantastic. January 18, 2013
Great camera for the tech-phobic! I received this camera for Christmas after specifically requesting one that was easy to use and not too technical. This camera has been incredibly easy to get started with taking pictures and movies. I uploaded my pictures to my computer today with minimal effort. Finally tech made easy! December 31, 2012
Excellent digital camera I bought this for my 11 year old daughter for her birthday. She is in love with this camera. It's her new way of expressing herself, artistically that is. She has fallen in love with photography. Thank you Nikon. The easy to use, touch screen is awesome. And the picture quality is not to shabby either. November 4, 2012

I am wondering if it makes any sense to get the fastest speed "UHS 1" type card, such as the SanDisk Extreme, or if something like the "class 10" SanDisk Ultra would be equally adequate. Thanks.

Answer:
Class 10 non UHS-1 card will be sufficient for the casual photographer. The UHS-1 greatly reduces the transfer rate to your computer. Very useful if you take 100's of pictures or a lot of video.

NIGHT PICTURES - NIKON COOLPIX S4300 QUERY

I was taking pictures in DC of the monuments in the evening/night with a new Nikon S4300 camera I just bought (I did not bring one and was attending a conference during the day). Although there was lighting, the pictures did not come out the way I wished; and the far away ones were terrible when I zoomed in. Also, I had a slight orange color on some pictures. Is this camera not made for night picture taking? I got it figuring that it would result in good picture taking knowing the Nikon reputation for cameras. My Motorola RAZR2 telephone provided me better pictures than this camera did, and I hoped, to my dismay, the camera would result in good pictures.

I just purchased the camera today and have been accidentally taking pictures via the touch shutter feature whenever I try to auto-focus or do other things using the touch screen. So is there a way to turn off the touch shutter feature entirely so that it only takes pictures when I press the shutter button at the top?

Answer:
"Prevent shooting with accidental tapping of the monitor in Auto mode and some scene modes by changing the touch shooting setting to Touch AF/AE (page 148). At this setting, the shutter is not released when the monitor is tapped."

After searching Google for a while I decided to flip through the PDF manual provided and I eventually came across the answer.

Answer:
From your camera manual:
C The Clock Battery
• The camera clock is powered by the backup battery that is separate from the camera’s main
battery.
• The backup battery charges when the main battery is inserted into the camera or when the
camera is connected to an optional AC adapter, and can provide several days of backup power
after about ten hours of charging.
• If the backup battery becomes exhausted, the date and time setting screen is displayed when the
camera is turned on. Set the date and time again. See “Setting the Display Language, Date and
Time” (step 2, A24) for more information.

Answer:
The S4300 is a good performer in low light but for excellent low light performance you should consider a camera with a CMOS sensor. There are 2 COOLPIX cameras with CMOS sensors that are have suggested retail prices of $200 - they are the S6300 and the S9200. The L610, which has a suggested retail price of $249.95, also has a CMOS sensor and is currently being offered at a special price of $149.95 on the Nikon Store (shop.nikonusa.com).

For info on the S6300 or the L610 click the attached product links. For info on the S9200 visit:http://www.nikonusa.com/en/Nikon-Pr...

Answer:
The only way to remove the date stamp from your images using the L120 would be to use the crop tool but that would remove other parts of your image as well.

Once you upload your images from the L120 to a computer you can use retouching tools in photo editing software to remove the stamp. Nikon View NX2, which comes with the L120, will let you crop image to remove the stamp. Nikon Capture NX2 has a retouching tool that will remove the stamp easily if it appears on a solid color background. You can download a free trial of Capture NX2 from this address: http://support.nikonusa.com/app/ans...

There are also third party software programs made specifically for removing date stamps. To find them try searching the web using these key words: remove stamp photos .

Wanted to upgrade my S4300 firmware. I don't have a memory card. Is this necessary to run the upgrade? When I read the instructions, I did what I thought the instructions asked with my camera connected to my computer and turned on. Then I created a destination folder on my computer and then saved the program to the folder. Then, I tried to run the program but it does nothing. I checked my camera and the version is still the lessor one.

THANK YOU TO THE PERSON THAT ANSWERED MY PREVIOUS QUESTION.

Answer:
I just read the firmware update and it is a fixed for a possible problem with charging a full exhausted battery. So I would definitely recommend doing the update, but you do need a memory card. Here is link to the approved memory cards:

After I take a picture, the review image stays really long. I can take pictures much faster if I turn it off but it's nice to see the picture I took. Is it possible to shorten the time that the image appears?

The COOLPIX S4300 comes with a UC-E6 USB cable that allows the camera to be connected to the computer and download images.
