This camera performs. I bought this camera because my friend had it and I reallly liked the pictures she had taken. It has performed extremely well in all situations: Shuttle launch video, riding video, bands, flowers, birds, rain, etc. I'm convinced of its construction quality because it flew out of my hand on a recent trike ride and ended up in the middle of the road. I lost the battery door and the battery but not the SD which was loaded with pictures. I bought a new battery, charged it up, downloaded my pictures, took the camera through all its settings and added a little duck tape for the battery door. It works like new but looks like junk. I will likely spring for another Coolpix in the future because I really like the size and quality of the photes. Thanks NIKON. September 6, 2011
great camera prize I love my Coolpix S3100! Because of my ten years and I love it! I always loves this Camera! November 20, 2013
Excellent Camera This is an excellent camera, what it needs is people who know photography to appreciate it ! I took these two pictures on low light with the flash on minimum, and also lower the ev to its lowest and these are the results, so don't knock anything down is you don't have the knowledge. March 26, 2013
Great camera for the price I have just had this camera for a few days, and it takes very good pictures and video. Everything functions as stated in the manual. It is very easy to use. December 30, 2012
Great little back up camera to carry in my purse or pocket. I'm a retired tractor trailer driver and I bought this camera as a take along in the truck instead of my "big one". I hate to say it, but this little camera rivals the photo quality of the other one. Well made and great quality in a small carry along package. Now that I'm retired I either carry it in my purse or pocket when I talk the dog, just in case a good photo op comes along. So glad I bought this camera. November 24, 2012

When I do play the pics out of the camera, in my case, plugged on a DVD recorder standalone, it creates a DVD with images but it will show the battery display status at all times on the recorded media.
Is there any way I can turn that off so the slideshow I record out of the camera straight to a DVD recorder doesn't show it?
Thanks a lot.

You need to connect the camera to a computer to see if it charges the battery, it could be that is the selected settings instead of using the wall charger.

Hi,

I recently bought an s3100 and love it. It was taking great little movies, but now it won't record sound with the movie. It had been working fine. I've been through the user manual, and read through Q&A, and can't find help. How do I get the camera to record sound again? What did I do wrong, or did the mic die on me? This camera has NOT been roughly treated or dropped.

Thanks for any help you can give.

I just got a Nikon Coolpix S3100 for my 15th birthday. Everything is working great on the camera, except one thing. Every single picture that I take is tinted pink, unless I use the black & white or sepia colors. Is this a problem with the camera or a setting or what? How can I fix it or do I have to take all my pictures in black and white or sepia? Help!

Answer:
Panorama Assist on the S3100 takes a series of individual pictures that can be joined later to form a single panorama using Panorama Maker 5 software. There is no way in the camera to join these photos together. Panorama Maker 5 can be installed on a computer using the ViewNX 2 CD that came with the S3100. If you are having trouble using Panorama Maker 5 you will need to contact ArcSoft, the manufacturer of the software, for support at http://www.arcsoft.com/public/custo....

I have a Nikon Coolpix S3100, and the monitor screen appears to have dropped to a very low resolution (image is very grainy and washed out). I thought my wife accidently changed some setting to cause this, but I've been through every menu and every option and can't figure out why the screen resolution is now severely degraded (the picture resolution is unaffected, and they come out fine). I did a system reset, but that didn't fix it. Any other ideas what this could be?

When I tried charging my camera, it took a few tries to get the cord into the charging port and in the process it must have gotten damaged. Now I have never been able to use my camera, but I would like to. Is there anything I can do?
