THE TERRIFIC ONE THERE ARE A LOT OF OPTIONS WHEN YOU WANT TO PURCHASE A CAMARA, BUT THERE IS JUST ONE WHEN YOU ARE FOUND OF A REAL HQ EXPERIENCE. COOLPIX S4100 IS A TERRIFIC OPTION May 21, 2013
Great camera for those on the go! Writing reviews is not my strong suit, but seeing the number of negative comments, I had to state my experience. I purchased this camera for my wife for her birthday and she loves it. All she wanted was something easy to use and small enough to carry anywhere. The Nikon Coolpix S4100 fits the bill. The camera has gone on a cruise and several trips with her. The operation of the camera is simple, picture are great, the touch screen flawless and absolutely zero trouble charging the battery. I know others with the S4100 are their reaction to the camera is the same. August 9, 2012
Great Quality Pictures I also own A Sony Cybershot. My coolpix takes way better pictures andd awesome videos! LOVE IT :o) May 14, 2012
I love this Cam!! I've recently upgraded from a previous version of Coolpix to this one and I love it with all of it's features May 9, 2012
Wow... is all I can say! I just upgraded from another pocket sized camera and this Nikon Coolpix is so amazing! Love the touch screen, the upclose pics I've taken are completely in focus, the recovery time between pics is WAY FAST, the cool purple color is my favorite, and I can't wait to go shoot some HD video! Totally the gold standard of pocket-sized cameras! April 1, 2012

Answer:
You may have a defective battery. Is it an OEM Nikon battery or a third party replacement battery? Also, how old is the battery? Batteries do die, not only one-time use batteries but also rechargeable batteries.

If you're camera/battery is still under warranty, it might behoove you to have everything checked out. You may also want to check if there is a newer firmware update for your camera, if so, you should install it as this may also be a fix. Otherwise, try a new OEM Nikon battery and see if that doesn't fix your problem.

I read the forum and tried what others were saying about taking out the memory card to get the camera to charge but it still will not do anything!? I bought the camera July 23, 2011, and have not used it all that much. Just yesterday I decided to try and charge it up but when I plug it into the wall or the computer, nothing!! I have owned Nikon before and never had a problem so this is very annoying. Should've bought Sony! Any help would be awesome.

My camera usually lights up when plugged in to my computer and I remember setting it to charge when plugged in, but it doesn't seem to want to charge. I can't check the settings, because there's not enough battery for my camera to turn on. Even when I use the wall charger, the camera won't light up being charged and won't turn on after being left plugged in for a while.

Answer:
If the light is flickering (very fast) it may be that the ambient temperature is not suited for charging or the USB cable or Charging AC adapter is not properly connected, or there is a problem with the battery. Disconnect the USB cable or unplug the Charging AC adapter and correctly connect it again, or try a back up battery. Or connect the USB to a computer in order to charge the battery.

Answer:
If you wish to exchange the COOLPIX S4100 you received you will need to check with the original retailer regarding their exchange policies.

If you wish to purchase a replacement S4100 there are refurbished models available at the Nikon Store online - to find it go to http://shop.nikonusa.com and enter S4100 in the search box. The S4100 may also be available from other retailers but unfortunately Nikon doesn't track authorized retailers for archived products. The best way to find these retailers would be to do a general web search for "S4100".

Answer:
The COOLPIX S4100 does not have an option to adjust exposure in aperture priority.
As it is a basic point and shoot camera, we have included basic scene modes on the camera as well as the ability to adjust the exposure value and ISO. While not pin-pointing aperture in the same way that aperture priority exposure mode would, the setting above allow for exposure adjustments.
