Get closer to the action

21x wide-angle optical Zoom-NIKKOR lens

Great photos and superb HD movies begin with the COOLPIX L120's powerful 21x wide-angle optical Zoom-NIKKOR glass lens, which closes the distance between you and your subjects. Zoom in on your son's at bat, then zoom out for a wide-angle shot of the whole team. Plus, the COOLPIX L120's 14.1-megapixel sensor and Nikon's EXPEED C2 Image Processing Engine deliver superb image quality and fast performance every time.

Smart, fun and easy

Practical tools for better photos and movies

The COOLPIX L120 is so smart, it knows when your subject smiles, warns you if someone blinks and gets the red out of grandma's eyes. Blotchy, uneven complexions are also a thing of the past with the COOLPIX L120's Skin Softening feature, which smooths skin tones. And its 17 versatile Scene Modes adjust camera settings to selected scenes, assuring great pictures at school plays, backyard barbecues or athletic events.

Friends and family in motion

One-Touch HD movies and stereo sound

A band concert without sound is incomplete, and a 60-yard touchdown drive without the fleet-footed runs isn't as exciting. That's where the COOLPIX L120's advanced One-Touch HD Movie recording comes in. With the push of a button, you'll instantly be shooting HD (720p) movies with full stereo sound. You can activate the camera's zoom function to capture tight shots and close ups, and when you're ready to share your movies, you can use in-camera playback or the convenient HDMI output for simple hookup to an HDTV or computer.

Compose with confidence

921,000-dot three-inch LCD color display

You'll enjoy composing images from the COOLPIX L120's bright three-inch LCD color display, which features a dazzling 921,000-dot screen that showcases still images and HD movies in rich detail and enhanced contrast. And for easy photo composition, improved picture viewing, and instant sharing, the LCD monitor's wide viewing angle and anti-glare coating lets you capture and view high quality images in virtually any lighting condition.

Capture flawlessly

High quality images every time

Low-light conditions and fast action can defeat some cameras, but not the COOLPIX L120. With high ISO speeds up to 6400, you can be sure that still images and movies will be ideally captured. Plus, you'll get great use of the in-camera editing functions, including D-Lighting for adjusting contrast and fine details often lost when shooting in glaring or intense light. And when you want to take close-up photos, the COOLPIX L120 will zero in as close as 0.4 inches.

Freeze the action

The COOLPIX L120's Sport Continuous Shooting mode takes photos continuously and in quick succession to capture fast moving objects.

Steady even when you're not

The COOLPIX L120's four-way Vibration Reduction (VR) Image Stabilization System automatically reduces the streaky images associated with shaky cameras.

Excellent camera for the intermediate photograher Always wanted to upgrade to a Nikon built camera to improve on the quality of my pictures. The shots of the moon in various stages and the my two dogs playing on the deck came out excellent. My indoor pictures and the sunrise ones really added to my enjoyment. I tried many of the settings and was pleased with the results. January 26, 2013

Answer:
I would suggest, that you have too slow a shutter speed. You camera is probably compensating for the lack of light and is slowing down the shutter speed. Another factor is how much you are zooming, the longer the focal length the faster you have to have the shutter speed. I would suggest, you put the ISO up higher when shooting at night. use a tripod, monopod or have something to support or rest the camera on. Hold the camera better, don't stick your arms out when taking a photo. Try different modes like night mode etc. Flash, this sounds the most obvious but generally with on board flashes the lighting is generally quite harsh, so be careful, You can help by putting a white piece of paper, tracing paper or baking paper front of the flash, that should defuse the light slightly. Shoot, with a much light as you can.

Answer:
I believe you are asking, what is PANORAMA assist. ( not paranorma ) Panorama assist mode can be accessed pressing SCENE MODE, selecting panorama mode (bottom left of 17 different scene modes), and taking consecutive pictures while moving left or right, and taking up to 360 degree shots. Pictures must then be loaded to your computer and processed in the provided panorama program.
Program works great, and provides great views!

CoolPix L120. How do I transfer photos from camera to computer? How to get non-fussy pics?

1) When I transfer photos to my cameras the photo files stacked up diagonally? Do I have to download some program before I can transfer my photos? I install the Nikon CD, CD does not install properly.
My other camera I used before like Cannon or Samsung, were very easy to transfer photos to computer.. No need to do extra thing.

2) How do I get good quality ( no fussy) photos consistently?
When I hold the camera I make sure it is steady before I point and take the picture. I do get some good quality pictures but not consistently. Have not been able to figure out what I did that works out sometime.
When my subject moves , I set to "Sport"
mode, but still get fussy pics. How can I fix this?
Thank you!

Hi - I have to record a 90 minute event. I see that only 29 minutes or 4 gb can be recorded at any time. Is it possible with a big enough memory card, to shoot 29 minutes, stop the camera, and repeat the process so that 90 minutes of video will be recorded? I can stop the action being filmed for a minute or two to allow this, I just need a full 90 minutes for the project.
Thanks,

Answer:
Your question isn't very clear, but:
1) If you connect a EH-67 AC Adapter to your L120 it will provide power to the camera, but will NOT charge the batteries.
2) To charge the batteries you'll need to (a) use rechargeable AA batteries like the Nikon EN-MH2 and (b) insert the batteries in an external AA battery charger like the Nikon MH-73.
3) The L120 camera does not charge batteries, no matter how or where you connect it.

Answer:
I'm guessing you mean color balance.

Just change the SCENE modes.

As far as changing the color of your camera - that's more difficult. I would suggest spray painting it, but being extremely careful not to paint the optics or controls. It's probably a bigger hassle than it's worth. But it might be cheaper (and definitely better looking) if you needed a different color just to buy one of the other color cameras you're interested in. ;)

I already use my TV but i really want to use my computer. I notice that the connection cable to the TV and computer are the same so is there a way? Sorry if this question seems ironic but I am a 14 year old who is just starting to get in to cameras. Also I am using a macbook pro as the computer that I want to use as the viewfinder, if that makes my question easier to answer...

How important to camera's performance is to choose correct type of batteries within camera's settings?

My new camera sometimes wasn't turning on or saying "Batteries are exhausted" even if they were fully charged. Is it possible that it was happening because i didn't set correct battery type within the camera's settings (in camera's Meniu)?

Answer:
It is important since NiCad batteries have a lower voltage 1.2v when compared to alkaline batteries 1.5v.

Here's the info from Wikipedia:

Ni–Cd cells have a nominal cell potential of 1.2 volts (V). This is lower than the 1.5 V of alkaline and zinc–carbon primary cells, and consequently they are not appropriate as a replacement in all applications. However, the 1.5 V of a primary alkaline cell refers to its initial, rather than average, voltage. Unlike alkaline and zinc–carbon primary cells, a Ni–Cd cell's terminal voltage only changes a little as it discharges. Because many electronic devices are designed to work with primary cells that may discharge to as low as 0.90 to 1.0 V per cell, the relatively steady 1.2 V of a Ni–Cd cell is enough to allow operation. Some would consider the near-constant voltage a drawback as it makes it difficult to detect when the battery charge is low.s

Answer:
Nikon does not make any adaptors for the L120, all are third party items so you would have to take a chance as to whether they fit and work

Answer:
The Self-Timer on the COOLPIX L120 is for self portraits or to reduce the effects of camera shake that occur when the shutter-release button is pressed. It won't take more than one shot. Please see page # 48 of the user's manual regarding Shooting Continuous at High Speed.
