Get closer to the action

21x wide-angle optical Zoom-NIKKOR lens

Great photos and superb HD movies begin with the COOLPIX L120's powerful 21x wide-angle optical Zoom-NIKKOR glass lens, which closes the distance between you and your subjects. Zoom in on your son's at bat, then zoom out for a wide-angle shot of the whole team. Plus, the COOLPIX L120's 14.1-megapixel sensor and Nikon's EXPEED C2 Image Processing Engine deliver superb image quality and fast performance every time.

Smart, fun and easy

Practical tools for better photos and movies

The COOLPIX L120 is so smart, it knows when your subject smiles, warns you if someone blinks and gets the red out of grandma's eyes. Blotchy, uneven complexions are also a thing of the past with the COOLPIX L120's Skin Softening feature, which smooths skin tones. And its 17 versatile Scene Modes adjust camera settings to selected scenes, assuring great pictures at school plays, backyard barbecues or athletic events.

Friends and family in motion

One-Touch HD movies and stereo sound

A band concert without sound is incomplete, and a 60-yard touchdown drive without the fleet-footed runs isn't as exciting. That's where the COOLPIX L120's advanced One-Touch HD Movie recording comes in. With the push of a button, you'll instantly be shooting HD (720p) movies with full stereo sound. You can activate the camera's zoom function to capture tight shots and close ups, and when you're ready to share your movies, you can use in-camera playback or the convenient HDMI output for simple hookup to an HDTV or computer.

Compose with confidence

921,000-dot three-inch LCD color display

You'll enjoy composing images from the COOLPIX L120's bright three-inch LCD color display, which features a dazzling 921,000-dot screen that showcases still images and HD movies in rich detail and enhanced contrast. And for easy photo composition, improved picture viewing, and instant sharing, the LCD monitor's wide viewing angle and anti-glare coating lets you capture and view high quality images in virtually any lighting condition.

Capture flawlessly

High quality images every time

Low-light conditions and fast action can defeat some cameras, but not the COOLPIX L120. With high ISO speeds up to 6400, you can be sure that still images and movies will be ideally captured. Plus, you'll get great use of the in-camera editing functions, including D-Lighting for adjusting contrast and fine details often lost when shooting in glaring or intense light. And when you want to take close-up photos, the COOLPIX L120 will zero in as close as 0.4 inches.

Freeze the action

The COOLPIX L120's Sport Continuous Shooting mode takes photos continuously and in quick succession to capture fast moving objects.

Steady even when you're not

The COOLPIX L120's four-way Vibration Reduction (VR) Image Stabilization System automatically reduces the streaky images associated with shaky cameras.

Excellent camera for the intermediate photograher Always wanted to upgrade to a Nikon built camera to improve on the quality of my pictures. The shots of the moon in various stages and the my two dogs playing on the deck came out excellent. My indoor pictures and the sunrise ones really added to my enjoyment. I tried many of the settings and was pleased with the results. January 26, 2013

Better than DSLR! I feel like a pro with all the pictures I have taken with Nikon Coolpix L120. The camera takes excellent pictures. I have enjoyed using some of the in-camera effects especially the pet picture effect for my dog. October 12, 2012

I just purchase a L120 camera and every setting I put it on I get a blurry picture. I took it to a children museum the other day and when ever my kids moved I would get a blurry picture. Is there some type of setting I'm missing. I tried both auto functions. If there a way to change the shutter speed?

Answer:
Either you are moving too much, the person/thing you are taking a picture of is moving, or you are on the wrong mode. Click on the scene button and go to the button 2nd from the top. Either use party/indoor, pet portrait for pets, or go to the scene menu and click on sport continuous and choose from the best of those pictures you took.

If you have the camera, when you are taking the video it should be in the bottom-right corner. If you don't and are just wondering, I have a 4 GB SD card and it has 29 minutes of standard resolution video video.

I just got my L120 yesterday but can't seem to get the Macro Mode to work.

The manual says while in auto mode press the flower symbol (macro mode) on the multi selector and the macro menu is displayed. When I press it nothing happens.

I take nature photos and every photo I tried taking has the main subject out of focus and everything in the background is in focus.

Am I doing something wrong that the macro mode won't work?

If you click on the green scene button and go the the bottom button that says 'Auto mode' and click on it. Then if you go to the menu button it should show a picture of a camera instead of the word scene. That should solve both of your problems.

Answer:
This model offers 19 Digital Vari-program modes. Selecting a program automatically optimizes settings to suit the selected scene, making creative photography as easy as rotating the mode dial.

(1) Which Scene Mode should I use to take picture of a starry sky?
(2) Why the camera is not focussing at the night sky in Fireworks Show mode?
(3) Is there any setting to increase the shutter speed from 4 seconds to higher, e.g. 10s, 15s etc.?
(4) In your Website, the Specification of L120 Self Timer shows "Can be selected from 10 and 2 seconds duration" but neither in the camera nor in the operating manual I could find a 2-Second timer. Can you please tell me how to set a 2-Second self-Timer?
(5) I am inserting a shot of moon taken by my L120, can you please guide me how to clean the grainy spots from the black areas?
Thank you

Answer:
you have to keep a steady hand while it's taking the picture -- mind you, it might be a good one or two seconds from the moment when you press the shutter button. or: use a flash or use shorter shutter times, or use a shorter focal length.

I have a Mac OSX (version 10.6.7). I bought my Nixon L120 last week and today i installed the ViewNX 2 to upload my first pictures. I have tried with both that program and Iphoto but after i try to import pictures i get an error message saying "unsupported file type". is there any way i can fix this? or is there any way to know why this is happening? I'm frustrated this camera is so difficult to use with my Mac.
