very clear instructions Japanese products instructions used to be laughably unclear. Now they are written in excellent Englisg, and very easy to understand. The instructions only add to an excellent product. July 1, 2013
My first but best Camera I am not a photographer. I just bought this camera for a hobby. I do not know anything about cameras. I went by the store-keeper's recommendation to buy this Camera. Believe me, its one of the Best, simply marvelous, it never ceases to amaze me. Being an extremely raw novice in photography, my pictures which i clicked looked like ones clicked by professionals. Learning never ends with this camera and with a plethora of functions, it can keep you captivated and spell bound and make photography an addiction for you. Powerful battery life - superb clarity. Do not hesitate to buy this. November 1, 2012
The best! The Nikon Coolpix P100 is a great camera. I sought the zoom capabilities and ease of using the auto pre-set modes and manual modes. I have shot 7000 photos in the past year since purchase utilizing every setting imaginable. I love this camera for a point and shoot. I entered 8 photos in the local fair this year and took 3 first place and 1 third place ribbon. I am hooked on Nikon and will be purchasing a D7000 or D5100 this next spring! December 5, 2011
Great Camera! This is a great, camera i would recommend this as a "first camera" for anyone who is an aspiring photographer. I am an avid photographer, though i am just starting out under aprenticeship of my mother, i say that choosing this camera to get started was one of the best decisions i have made as a photographer. The camera has great quality and great features including the 26x zoom, and the manual mode is great, which is where my camera stays set most of the time. although the manual mode is wonderful, i wish the camera had two scroll wheels, each separate for aperture and shutter speed, but all is well. Team Nikon forever! October 18, 2011
great phone love this camera was handy while out of the country while not carrying a large camera, does have a great zoom feature, you can zoom all the way and then once there, zoom more and more... pretty cool feature.... September 24, 2011

When I access go to IE, the laptop does see the camera as P100. When I click the P100 folder and get pictures from camera, it says "reading picture information"; however, I then get an a window "Scanner and Camra Wizard" that says "The scanner or camera is in use. Please try again later. What's wrong? I have another camera that I never have problems downloading pictures from.

Answer:
The camera goes brings shutter speed down to 1/30 in auto when it believes that there is not enough light, so it sets the shutter speed and aperture appropriate to the conditions. Also the photo will be effected by how much you zoom as this will effect the aperture. So if you have the camera fully zoomed the aperture will have to be higher and the shutter speed has to be lower. Another thing that might make a difference is the way you hold the camera, I am always telling people to hold their camera differently, so that there is less movement and more chance of getting the shot, of course this is effected by the focal length. For DSLRs, the rule of thumb is that you should shoot no slower than the focal length that you are at (converted to 35mm). So if you were shooting at 200mm you would have your shutter speed at 1/200 or faster. This rule can be broken, I break it all the time, but is handy. With bridge camera like yours, the rule is sound, it is just harder to work out the focal length to shutter speed.

Answer:
The camera’s internal clock uses a different battery from the camera’s battery. The clock battery charges when the main battery is installed or the AC adapter is connected, and provides several days of clock battery power after about ten hours of charging.
If the issue persists, please contact Nikon Technical Support for assistance.

Answer:
Video can be transferred from the COOLPIX P100 from internal to memory card by going into the playback menu and selecting "Copy". Once "Copy" is selected, internal to SD card. For more information on transferring from internal memory to SD card please see page 115 in the User's Manual: https://support.nikonusa.com/app/an...

To transfer videos to a CD, the videos must be transferred onto a computer first and then to the CD.

I just read for the first time in my "digital photography" life that there is a finite number of shutter counts. So does the Coolpix p100 has a shutter rating or shutter life?

Thank you.
