Excellent lens Lens is lightweight. All pictures taken with this lens are clear and in proper focus. August 19, 2011
awesome product this is really awesome product just try this product August 12, 2011
Everything you would expect from Nikkor... With every Nikkor lens that I buy, I become more and more impressed with the performance, durability and precision with which this glass is put together.... More than satisfied with the lens. July 4, 2011
A lens for the serious photographer This len is made for the serious photographer. Do you want to get close up with out standing in of others? This is the lens for you. You can stay a ways back and zoom in to get your clear and crisp shots. Stand in the rear of the room and get a front row type shot. You can't go wrong with this lens. June 28, 2011
love it! I love this lens, I wasn't sure exactly if I would. But found as I used it, I found it to be fun and easy to use. June 13, 2011
Wonderful detail I love my new 55-200 lens. I can get close up enough to see the squirrel in the tree without invading its territory. I'm a beginner and this works well for me. June 12, 2011
Love this lens After looking at 200mm zoom lenses and having a limited budget, I ran across thia lens for my D-60. It was at the price I was willing to pay and even without the vibration dampener. I took it to shoot a soccer game ,and was very pleased at the clarity of every picture even though I was shooting in noon day sun and at 200mm handheld, while tracking the players running at full speed down the field. Every shot was sharp and in focus. A great lens. June 6, 2011
WOW!!!! Awesome product. BUY ONE!!!! Bought this on clearance. You should know this was in the display tube and was NEVER USED. For the price I paid, it was a "steal" literally. Just for giggles, I was watching my LED TV, and snapped a picture of the scene. I could not believe my eyes. It was just what I was seeing. The auto focus kicked in and, crisp, accurite detail. Like Lee Iacocca said," If you can find a better deal, buy it." Thank you Nikon for making the finest products I've ever used. Loking forward to buying more in the future. April 20, 2011
excellant value for the money This is not a pro lense and with that being understood what I enjoy about this is for a couple hundred dollars you get a remarkable lightweight compact durable little lense that performs remarkably well with quite impressive image quality. April 15, 2011
Awsome quality lens! This is a great lens for mediumdistance shots. This lens offers great flexibility in zoom allowing for multiple uses. The lens also works well in fairly low light conditions making it a good choice for widlife and scenic shots! April 14, 2011
Powerful small Zoom If I had to choose two economical lenses, this would be one of them. The zoom range coincides nicely with my 18-55 and the sharpness and clarity are excellent. Focus could be a bit faster, but that's why there is a Manual switch (Hope I don't wear it out). At long range, this lens provide good magnification and the price is right. April 14, 2011
gives a nice blured background I like this lens because it zooms very well and renders a nice bokeh (blurred background). In fact, I was able to achieve a dramatically attractive blurred background affects with this lens. It gave my pictures a kind of a dreamy look. This lens has an autofocus, so no need for manual time-consuming focus. I have neither patience nor time for manual focusing, so I really appreciate its built-in autofocus feature. The contrast is great. When you zoom in, it doesn't really give you a razor sharp quality, but it's still pretty good. The colors are vivid and it's especially good for taking photos outdoors. April 9, 2011
Cool Lens Just got mine for about a week ago for my outdoor- wildlife and family portrait, and the captures are really sharp for this budget oriented lens =). I even tried indoors both ambient and with flash - the output were great. September 1, 2010
My first extra lens...love it I have no complaints with this lens. I bought it with a package deal for my Nikon D3000. It works very well. I've been able to take incredible landscape shots as well as some amazing closeups of hummingbirds...and they don't exactly stay still for you! I've used it on automatic and manually...both are fine! A great intro to lenses. I will definately be getting others soon...but, right now....I have no reason to get anymore. It's excellent for what I want to take photos of. August 6, 2010
Entry Level 200mm Zoom This is a great product. It has features only found with lens 2x the cost. Easy to set up and make an amateur look like a pro. Best $$$ you will ever spend. July 31, 2010
Fantastic lens Superior lens clarity and focus. If this lens had arms and legs, I'd marry it. July 31, 2010
Can't be beat For the price and size the Nikkor AF-S DX 55 to 200 Zoom is one lens that's almost impossible to beat. It will provide crystal clear pictures when your hand isn't steady, it is super quiet, light weight and the color retention is excellent. Having been a photography nut for over fifty years I just can't find one down side to owning this lens. July 30, 2010
Very flexible to a wide variety of uses. Very adaptable to wide variety of uses. Works great with the D5000, very glad I bought it! July 30, 2010
Excellant lens, I use it frequently This lens came with my camera, I use it frequently as most of the photos that I take are of distant items. July 30, 2010
Great lens for sports I have a nikon D200 camera and purchased this lens to use for photographing my son playing lacrosse. Lightweight, easy to use I have gotten great action photos with this lens. I highly reccomend it to anyone wishing to photograph sports. July 30, 2010
This is one of the best lens i have used. When I purchased this lens I wasn't sure if this is what I wanted but after using it now for a year I just love the pictures I get and ease of using it. My next lens will be a wide angle lens. July 30, 2010
vibration reduction works well Have only recently used this lens on my D60. So far, I am very pleased with its overall performance. It's light and easy to use, with images that have been excellent. July 30, 2010
AMAZING! We bought this lens mainly with our kids sports activities in mind. After years of not being able to get good close-ups we were ready to expand our new camera purchase. With this lens the detail and clarity are unbelievable!! We use it for nearly everything. I highly doubt I will ever use a different brand of lens. July 30, 2010
Awesome lens! I am an amateur photographer, so I don't know the lingo or have a lot of fancy equipment. I do have this lens, and I love it. For some reason, the clarity and color in the shots with this lens feel more vibrant and saturated. Even for portraiture, I find I prefer using this lens and standing much further away from the subject than using my standard 18-55mm lens. This lens gets amazingly close-up shots. It's great for nature shots, but for details in city architecture as well. This is the perfect zoom lens for the beginning and intermediate photographers! July 30, 2010
This product is very user friendly Awesome lens...the standard lens that came with D3000 was the 18-55 another great lens, and for some application not a problem when making a choice. However the 55-200 has been so forgiving it has impressed my friends so much so they to purchased the lens. The lens gives so many more options opens up a whole new world of photography. Clear concise and nicely detailed images, I highly recommend this lens to anyone because of its clearity and versitility. July 30, 2010
Great Product I got this lens in a kit with a D40 and use it all the time for nature photography. I get clear pictures and the VR is a plus. Have not had any malfuctions with this lens July 30, 2010
Good Lens for the Money I received this lens with a bundle pack for my D200. It works very well at tracks that do not require a super lens. Not great for closer shots as I find the focus is harder to adapt to. Shooting in the 135 range is fantastic. July 30, 2010
Love the lens Love the lens. Love the brand. Can get close-ups at my daughter's school functions. July 30, 2010
great features in a small package. Worth every penny. A great pick up, if you are in the market for lens, look no further. June 13, 2014
awesome product just try this one you will like it August 17, 2011

Answer:
Hi if your lens in not a VR you could just use the way we took pictures before VR just set the shutter speed at or higher than the lens length ( example 200 MM == 200 th of a second or higher this does work to help with shake but not in low light when you need a slow shutter .

Answer:
how big? about 2-3 exposure values, that's how big it is, especially at longer focal lengths. it lets you shoot handheld in situations where it would just blur otherwise.

Answer:
I do not see the "VR" switch on it, so I would say it is non-VR. I don't have any non-VR lens, so can not tell you the difference, but I would say, it is helpful to have in certain situations.

Hi Anon,

Yes, this lens will work just fine on the D7000, as will the other non-S series Autofocus lenses.

Enjoy your D7000, I own one too and it's simply amazing.
