New Haven't used it yet. Only had it 2 days. Works good so far. October 17, 2014
Nice blurred backround with sharp focus. The lens is relatively cheap, takes amazingly sharp photos and blurs the background well. The lens is great for nature as well as portrait photography. I mainly use it for portrait photography. July 17, 2014
Awesome lens for beginners or advanced users! I am a beginning photographer and I wish to turn it into a career! I do enjoy this lens very much and it will be going with my on my trip to the UK this summer! It's super long zoom and manual focus are excellent. I really do enjoy this lens and would recommend it to anyone! January 13, 2014
Can't beat the price! I just received the AF-S DX Nikkor 55-200mm 4-5.6 refurbished lens and used it for the first time this past weekend. A good companion to the 18-55mm 1.8-5.6. I primarily do portraits, but also enjoy documentary shots. The lens gives a feeling of being able to reach out and touch someone, even if at a distance. Light weight, and easy to use. I was also going to purchase a hood and lens bag, but to my surprise, the lens came with both. With a name like Nikon, I felt comfortable purchasing a refurbished lens. How could I go wrong. At present time I can't afford to fork out too much and so "Thanks Nikon". You made it possible. October 3, 2011
excellent deal This refurbished lens by Nikon is an exceptional deal and value . The lens focus is fast and accurate It looks like brand new . Came with lens pouch and the hood . also has a 90 day warranty by nikon great value September 29, 2011

I have a Nikon D3100 and LOVE it! I don't know much about photography, but my husband knew I wanted to do close-up photography, and got me this lens. However, I want to do even closer close-up photography now, as in getting close enough to photograph the faces of insects and pistils/stamens of plants. What lens should I get next? Thanks!

When I try to snap a lens cap onto my af-s dx 55-200mm lens the cap will not snap on it seems to be hitting the glass of the lens. It is an lc-52 lens cap that I am trying to put on.

Answer:
The Nikon AF-S DX VR Zoom-NIKKOR 55-200mm f/4-5.6G IF-ED is an ideal telephoto zoom lens for those seeking a lightweight all-in-one lens or a companion lens for the 18-55mm kit lens that came with their camera. Vibration Reduction (VR) significantly reduces camera shake throughout the entire focal length, making sharp telephoto shots substantially easier to achieve. This 3.6x zoom, designed exclusively for use with Nikon’s DX-format D-SLR cameras, features Nikon’s VR (Vibration Reduction) image stabilization and is perfect for portraits and action. Nikon cannot offer support or advice on third party products. You will need to get in contact with the manufacturer of the third party equipment for compatibility information with our products.

Yes, but you will be shooting in DX crop mode. The Megapixels will be reduced to approximately 12. Defeats the purpose of owning a full frame camera.

When not in use the 18-55 has a latch that keeps it in its most compact position, not usable. This is good for when the camera is not in use and being carried. Does this new lens have this desirable feature?
