Nikon-quality fisheye images

Designed for creativity and performance

With a rounded diaphragm that makes out-of-focus elements appear more natural, a built-in flower-type lens hood and a 16mm equivalent focal length, the AF DX Fisheye-NIKKOR 10.5mm f/2.8G ED is optimized for DX-format Nikon D-SLR cameras. Its Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass ensures superior sharpness and color, and Close-Range Correction (CRC) system provides high performance when taking pictures up close.
ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) Glass
ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) Glass
An optical glass developed by Nikon that is used with normal optical glass in telephoto lenses to obtain optimum correction of chromatic aberrations.
CRC (Close Range Correction) System
CRC (Close Range Correction) System
The Close-Range Correction (CRC) system is one of Nikon's most important focusing innovations, for it provides superior picture quality at close focusing distances and increases the focusing range. With CRC, the lens elements are configured in a "floating element" design wherein each lens group moves independently to achieve focusing. This ensures superior lens performance even when shooting at close distances. The CRC system is used in fisheye, wide-angle, micro and selected medium telephoto NIKKOR lenses.

Awesome Awesome Awesome Great lens, excellent quality, sharp, would recommend to all. July 30, 2010
Great fun lens I'm a big fan of wide and ultra wide angle lenses, and always wanted a linier fisheye for that something extra. This lens delivers. Super sharp, with amazing DOF. I can put it in my pocket when I walk around for that different perspective so it usually comes along when I go out to shoot. I often use it vertically for doorways, windows and buildings. the fisheye effect can be easily corrected in Capture NX2 for great ultra wide shots if desired. February 1, 2014
Fun and useful lens I always wanted a fisheye, but dropping close to seven hundred bucks on a lens that would only be used occasionally made me hesitate. When I finally decided to drop the hammer (and the credit card) I decided that if I bought it, I would make sure to use it often. I use only prime lenses on my D7000, I started photography back in the '70s when zooms were not that good, and when I go out to shoot I only use the one lens on my camera. The go-to lens is the 35 f1.8 and my second one is the 85 f3.5 micro. Once a while I mount the 50 f1.8. When I got the fisheye I started to go out with it and try to get creative. Creative I got. I have taken some amazing photos with this lens. As a food blogger I have used it for food, sushi especially looks good with a fisheye, and restaurant interiors. One thing, the lens allows you to get so close that I got food on it once. Winter scenes are cool and it has given some neat shots at the beach. The lens is solid and well-made with plenty of glass and metal. It has a smooth feel and balances well on the D7K. The fisheye effect can be minimized by centering the horizon and you can make some amazing panoramic photos that way. The effect can be exaggerated by angling up or down. I've made the grill of my Mustang look like it was smiling by hitting the right perspective. The color at the edges is more intense and blue skies look like I used a polarizer, which I like. Overall, this is an amazing lens and a fun tool. If you buy it, make sure you use it often. January 17, 2014
fun lens one of my favorite lens. very sharp and you can get creative with this beauty. even though it's not always used I will never sell this lens. January 12, 2013
Beyond My Expectations Bought this little baby 2 days ago, couldnt wait to take it to the California Nothern Coast, teamed up with a Nikon D7000, the results were astounding, my friends and family members tell me I could sell the photos I took with this little gem, I was also pleasantly surprised when I got home and downloaded the pictures, I was like WOW !!!, Did I really take these !!!, yes I did, view for yourself... Answer:
The autofocus function of the D5100 is no different than any Nikon cameras. The lens and it internal components will integrate into your cameras system. However, understand, this is a DX lens, and is designed for Nikon DX cameras*. If your camera is not DX, you will want to acquire the 16mm 2.8 Fisheye, for correct frame perspective for non-DX cameras*

Answer:
Hi, I have this lens and use it on my D3. When I purchased the lens, it had already been modified by cutting back the lens hood. You may have read about this elsewhere. This combined with setting the D3 Image Area (in the Shooting Menu) to Auto DX Crop OFF, and to FX format 36x24, seems to work just fine for me. It gives you a 180 plus degree FOV! Very cool lens! Good luck, Fred G....

Answer:
Yes, the 10.5mm is compatible with any Nikon body with an internal focusing motor, like your D80. The speed that it focuses is affected by the body you're using, though. I found that the D80/D90 bodies focus it a little slower than the D7000.

Answer:
The answer is a qualified YES. I'll be upfront and let you know I have no experience with the D60, (I shoot with a D300s), but your camera manual states that it will support this lens. You may have to shoot with the lens in manual focus mode as opposed to AF single servo or continuous servo.

IF you like, go to the info page for the lens click on the SUPPORT tab and on the right hand side of the page click on DOWNLOAD the MANUAL. Loads of good info about the lens.

Answer:
"G" Lenses like the 10.5mm are not designed to work on Nikon film cameras. First, the have no aperture ring to stop down the lens. This is done internally in Nikon's digital cameras. Second, the image circle of the 10.5mm is too small to cover 36 x 24mm film, which means you'd have to crop each frame while printing to get full coverage images.

If you want to preview Nikon products I've found it useful to download their PDF manuals from the SUPPORT tab loads of info there.

I bought a 10.5 2.8 when I first got back into photography in 2007, after a long hiatus. Enjoyed the field of view but was discouraged by chromatic abberations (color fringing) on the lens. Eventually sold it because of that, and to pay for other lenses that would be more useful.

Now I find myself interested in a fisheye again, but worried about repeat of the fringing issue. Would use this mostly for concert and roller derby photos, some landscapes, and nighttime sky photos.

Answer:
The AF DX Fisheye-Nikkor 10.5mm f/2.8G ED Lens can be used on the Nikon1 V1 but only in conjunction with the Nikon1 FT-1 mount adapter which is sold separately.

1Nikkor Lenses are made specifically for use on Nikon1 cameras without the use of an adapter. You can find 1Nikkor Lenses on this page:
http://www.nikonusa.com/en/Nikon-Pr...

More information on the Nikon1 FT-1 mount adapter can be found at this address:
http://www.nikonusa.com/en/Nikon-Pr...

A list of other lenses that can be used on Nikon1 cameras in conjunction with the FT-1 can be found here:
