Capture Every Detail

Shoot tack-sharp portraits every time

Nikon's Super Integrated Coating (SIC) enhances light transmission efficiency and offers superior color consistency and reduced flare, while the AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G's Aspherical Lens Element (AS) virtually eliminates coma and other types of aberrations, even when shooting at the widest available aperture. Pair that with Nikon's Silent Wave Motor (SWM) for fast, accurate and quiet autofocus, and you can be sure all of your portraits will be tack sharp.

Quiet Autofocus

A significant innovation in AF lens technology, Nikon's Silent Wave Motor uses ultrasonic (inaudible) vibrations—rather than a gear system—to focus the lens, providing incredibly smooth, silent and precise autofocus operation.

Quick Switching from AF to MF

When fine manual focusing is needed, simply rotate the lens focus ring—M/A mode allows you to seamlessly override the AF system with virtually no time lag.

Effective Aberration Correction

Since the 1960s, aspherical lenses have been an important part of the NIKKOR lens family. Virtually eliminating coma and other types of aberration, every new addition to the lineup provides a new level of contrast, resolution and compact design.

Great Lens! I was deciding between the 1.4 and the 1.8. After reading many reviews, I picked this lens, didn't disappoint! October 14, 2014
Love this lens! I'm new to the DSLR community so I did some research on what lens would be the best fit for my needs...mainly taking photos of my nine month old. I'm so glad I chose this lens - the photos I've taken with it are beautiful. I still have a lot to learn so I can't wait to see everything this lens is capable of! September 21, 2014
Fastest Lens Ever This lens is very fast and very high response. Every photographer had this lens. September 16, 2014
Little lens, big output I love this little lens. It's great for portraits and night photography because of its f1.8. I also love it for its size. It's nice and light when having to carrying it around on a day-long shoot. August 26, 2014
Bokelicious It is a very fast lens with some excellent Boke(h). AF is fast and smooth. if you want a relatively inexpensive lens for everyday shooting This one is a winner & should be in your go to bag. August 22, 2014

Answer:
The D700 has an internal focus motor, whilst the D60 doesn't. Whilst this doesn't effect this lens, if you brought an older lens like the Nikkor 50mm or 85mm 1.8D you would not be able to autofocus with the D60. Also remember that the because of the 1.5x crop of the D60 you will have an equivalent focal length of 75mm (50mm) or 127.5 (85mm).

Answer:
Yes it will autofocus with the D3200. Since the camera does not have a built in focus drive you need lenses with the AF-S or older AF-I designation as these have focus motors built in. The -S means it has a silent wave focus motor and -I means
internal focus motor.

Answer:
The new AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G was release a few weeks back and it’s usually available after 30 to 45 days after release date. You may want to check with your local dealer.

If I use this on a DX model, D5000, will it be any more difficult than if I used it on an FX model? I am new to the photography world, and being that it says FX prime lens or something on the overview, I was a little confused.

Also, what is the difference between a lens that has a G and a lens that has a D after the f-stop?

Thanks!

Answer:
Yes, this lens is fully funtional with the D80. This new one is a G lens that has no aperture control ring and is designed to be used with cameras that allow setting the aperture from the camera body. G lenses also provide Distance information to the camera. The previous one was a D version that relay subject-to-camera distance information to Nikon SLR cameras that feature 3D Color Matrix Metering, 3D Matrix Metering, and 3D Multi-Sensor Balanced Fill-Flash.
