Versatile and Amazing images I do a substancial amount of inside sports photography where focal length is secondary to aperture and speed. This lens is by far the nicest piece of glass I have ever worked with...period. The files produced are amazing to work with and the speed, color and sharpness for high speed indoor action are unmatched! A hefty investment but worth every penny! April 14, 2011
Incredible detail Although I have heard a lot of praise for this lens nothing can prepare one for the clarity that comes through the first time you see images on the monitor or light box. It simple is a legend in its time. March 23, 2011
Best glass there is This lens is probably one of the finest glass you'll find at any price. The quality and optics are superb with a smashing bokeh. One of the best investments I've ever made. November 14, 2010

Award Winner

Professional Photographer Hot One 2011 Award

The AF-S NIKKOR 200mm f/2G ED VR II lens received Professional Photographer magazine's Hot One 2011 award, in the telephoto zoom lens category. The judges said, "If shooting distant objects in low light is your thing, check out the AF-S NIKKOR 200mm f/2G ED VR II lens, Nikon's low-light telephoto super-performer." The 200mm f/2 is a fast aperture telephoto lens that incorporates VR II image stabilization for up to four stops of correction in both still photography and D-Movie video capture. The judges also noted that the lens has almost no chromatic aberration, even at the widest aperture. Professional Photographer has organized the Hot One awards for 12 years. The judging panel consists of 32 professional photographers, and winners are chosen based on innovation, usefulness in a real-world studio setting, and value for the price.
