AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G
A MUST for every DX shooter
I've used this product for quite a time.
At first glance, the fit and finish looks good, light, easy to handle. The SWM is a great addition for users of all entry level camera bodies, AF speed is acceptable and MF override is possible.
Image quality wise, TREMEDOUS, it goes beyond my expectation even at widest aperture (though contrast dropped just a little), sharpness is great at the center, the corner is not bad, then everywhere looked tack-sharp just around F2.8 - 4. Background blur is a little harsh wide-opened and becomes most pleasing around F2.8
All in all, if you're a DX shooter, go to buy this lens now, I know you'll love this just like me.

Great lens for the entry level user and advanced users.
I bought this lens about two years ago. I first bought the 50mm 1.8G and loved using that lens for everything. However I wanted something wider. I looked for a while and was stuck between this lens and the older 35mm f2 AF-D.
At the time I wasn't really into video so this lens fit the bill for my needs perfectly. I still use it today, this is one of the best lenses you can buy for a DX Nikon body. Its sharp, quick to focus and well built. Plus its price makes it a no brainer.
This lens will allow you cameras image sensor to really capture all the little details you've been missing out on. If you thought your camera took great pictures with the kit lens, then slap one of these on you camera and you'll see an improvement in overall detail. Plus you'll be able to better isolate your subjects since this lens has the ability to create a shallow depth of field, which allows people to concentrate on what you were trying to capture. Plus it adds a more pleasing look to your photographs.
On a DX body this lens has an equivalent field of view of 52.5mm which is good for portraits and general photography. This lens is great for both indoor and outdoor photography. You just have to keep in mind that you'll be using your feet allot to "zoom in and out". But that's what prime lenses are all about. Its adds in a bit of a challenge at times, and increases the "fun factor". I really love shooting with prime lenses.
This lens has served me well. It has taught me allot and I have gotten some great images with it.

This lens will get 75% of the time on my d5100
I had 3 lenses before this one. The kit lens (18-55) that came with the d5100, a 200mm sigma small telephoto and the manual 50MM nikon lens. I just got this one yesterday after extensive research on my next lens and I have to say I am dully impressed. I can tell instantly that the clarity and bokeh on this one is sweet. I can't wait to test it some more!
