AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4G 4.6 5 93 93
Super lens I just got it, and with the f stop breadth It has boosted my creative ability. As a food wine and travel writer this lens will be my go to piece. A great value ! April 4, 2014
A brilliant, tack-sharp, butter-smooth bokeh, low-light speed demon. Bought the 35mm 1.8G DX along with my D7100, and it never leaves my bag. The 50mm 1.4G is now my go to choice when I'm chasing my toddlers around my house, running and gunning. The "keeper" rate is off the charts and I'm nailing focus 80% of the time, even with my fast-moving "targets." Sharpness, color and contrast is amazing wide-open, and has really elevated my photography to the next level, if you'll excuse the cliche. I'll probably go "full-frame" in the future, and I'm glad thus little gem will be able to make the move with me. On a side note, remember that only FX-compatible lenses will make the transition with you if you upgrade to a full frame body later. Good glass is key to producing good images, so invest wisely. March 17, 2014
Great all purpose lense This is my first FX lens. After dropping $3K on the D800E, I wanted a good portrait lens at a reasonable price. The 50mm f/1.4G has certainly exceeded my expectations for a lens in the $500 range. Auto-focus is spot on , photos are sharp and crisp, great colors and very good bokeh. At 1.4, I can take low light shots without a flash. I am very glad that I chose the 50 1.4G as my first FX lens. I highly recommend!!! Every Nikon owner should have one in their camera bag. October 19, 2013
Love it! You can focus close to you target, and it has a realy nice bokeh, it`s a great lens for a good price! August 26, 2013
Must have. For the price and quality, this is a must have lens for anyone who has a Nikon DSLR. Since the purchase, it has been my indoors go to lens. The images are sharp, auto focus is right on, light, and the manual focus overwrite works great. Perfect portrait lens. If you are considering buying this lens or some other lens, buy this one first! And I believe this lens should have a gold ring on it. just saying. July 23, 2013

Answer:
It will work on a D5100. However since the D5100 is a crop sensor camera, it gives angles of view similar to what a 75mm lens gives when used on an FX or 35mm camera.

Answer:
Yes, the D5100 will work with the AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G.

In fact, any lens that has AF-S in its name will work on the D5100.

AF-S means that the lens has the Silent Wave focusing motor built-in. The D5100 does not have a built-in focusing motor, so it requires that you use AF-S lenses.

Because it' a great lens and popular and pros use them. It's the less expensive version of 24-70mm f2.8. Moreover, it's fast and great in low light.

This lens is highly sought by many photographers and they can never be in the store too long. Selling like hot cakes, first come first serve. If you see one, go get it, you'll not regret our purchase.

Answer:
When you mount the lens in the camera it should be smooth, no scrubs. If already tried different lenses and you're able to mounted on the camera with any problem, then you have a problem with the new lens. You're welcome to send your lens for service in order to be evaluated by one of our technicians.

Answer:
This lens has Nikon Super Integrated Coating is Nikon's term for its multilayer coating of the optical elements in NIKKOR lenses. This multilayer coating helps reduce lens flare (the appearance on the image of the distinctive shape of the lens diaphragm, caused when non-image-forming light enters the lens and hits the camera's sensor) and ghosting (bright spots of reflected light that appear on the image, the result of the camera being pointed at a bright light source). Nikon's Super Integrated Coating is especially effective for lenses with a large number of elements, and the multilayer coating process is tailored to the design of each particular NIKKOR. The number of coatings applied to each lens element is carefully calculated to match the lens type and glass used, and also to assure uniform color balance.
