Quiet & Quick I am very new to the Nikon dslrs, I purchased my camera 1 year ago today(d5100) I just purchased this lense today and absolutly love it! The focal distance is just right and it is awesome for portraits! I would definintly recommend this lense, when using the 1.4 apeture the pictures are stunning. It also takes great stop motion even in the 1.4 apeture. Worth the money! July 1, 2012
Sharp, fast I bought this lens about 2 years ago for my D300, it's fast and sharp. March 30, 2012
An Exceptional Lens I have used this lens for a few months now, and I am still impressed with the quality of the images it produces. Sharp as you like from f/2.8 onwards, and nearly as sharp wide open. Focus is quick and quiet, and more importantly, accurate. The images have plenty of contrast, and despite the lack of Nano Crystal Coat, flare is very well controlled. This lens is perfect as a general use lens on FX, and a short portrait lens on DX. I would highly recommend this lens to any Nikon SLR user. January 8, 2012
Great Lens - opened box two hours ago!!!! I just received this lens for my birthday (71), and haven't taken that many shots, but it seems terrific! The images are much sharper than I expected them to be, The lens is lightweight, but obviously sturdy. The few images I took at full aperture show me that this will be a perfect lens for portrait photos of my family and friends. This was one wonderful gift! November 1, 2011
must have lense this is a must have lense, ive been using it for 1 month without switching to other lenses, its perfect for portraits and excellent for low light condition. it is remarkably sharp and stunning colors.it also have fast focusing motor, besides lens built quality is great. Answer:
It will work on a D5100. However since the D5100 is a crop sensor camera, it gives angles of view similar to what a 75mm lens gives when used on an FX or 35mm camera.

Answer:
Yes, the D5100 will work with the AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G.

In fact, any lens that has AF-S in its name will work on the D5100.

AF-S means that the lens has the Silent Wave focusing motor built-in. The D5100 does not have a built-in focusing motor, so it requires that you use AF-S lenses.

Answer:
Pretty much all Nikkor lenses will work on the D7000 as it has a internal focus motor. Quality wise, I would definitely say the 50mm 1.4G is better than the 35mm 1.8G DX. Also you should consider the 50mm 1.8G instead of the 1.4G. as it is cheaper and in most ways just as good.

Answer:
When you mount the lens in the camera it should be smooth, no scrubs. If already tried different lenses and you're able to mounted on the camera with any problem, then you have a problem with the new lens. You're welcome to send your lens for service in order to be evaluated by one of our technicians.

Answer:
This lens has Nikon Super Integrated Coating is Nikon's term for its multilayer coating of the optical elements in NIKKOR lenses. This multilayer coating helps reduce lens flare (the appearance on the image of the distinctive shape of the lens diaphragm, caused when non-image-forming light enters the lens and hits the camera's sensor) and ghosting (bright spots of reflected light that appear on the image, the result of the camera being pointed at a bright light source). Nikon's Super Integrated Coating is especially effective for lenses with a large number of elements, and the multilayer coating process is tailored to the design of each particular NIKKOR. The number of coatings applied to each lens element is carefully calculated to match the lens type and glass used, and also to assure uniform color balance.
