Excellent prodct Great in Value and quality. Sharp images, excellent colour reproduction, quick in focus and blurr-free photos. As a new user I am really happy with performance of lens as well as camera (D7100) July 16, 2014
Great Carry Around Lens Really the title says it all. I have used this lens with the D90 since I got it with the kit. I think this lens has better color reproduction and response then all the other kit lenses provided with the other cameras further down the Nikon Hierarchy. My D90 is the first SLR camera of any type I have owned and I love it. Since I got the original kit I have purchased several Nikon lenses (professional and consumer) but the original 18-105mm ended up the tool of choice most of the time. Its just that versatile. My only complaint, in very low light without the flash and a tripod, there are clearly much better performers within nikon's line up. March 7, 2013
Versatile of them all Great lens for over all use in daily basis. Its excellent enough for my family memory keeping. February 2, 2013
Great entry level zoom lens I have been using this lens with my D90. I am a big fan of it. Its a great lens which can take sharp images. I always use manual camera in 100% manual mode, but gave a try to auto focus also and it does its job good, with very minimum of noise. Zoom and focus rings are very convenient to use. Body feels to be very solid and nice to hold. On full zoom body extends to a reasonable length. Not a great lens to take portraits, need to have good distance between the subject and background. VR feature is great to have especially beyond 70-80 mm. November 27, 2012
Great everywhere lens. I got D90 that came with this lens. I later bought a Tamron 18-300mm lens. But this lens always produces much better images, even though it doesn't zoom as far. I finally packed and Tamron lens away and sold it. Go with Nikon! May 14, 2012

Answer:
I have had mine since 2008 and I am yet to have an issue apart from general check and clean which i send it in for last year along with the camera. Without impact your lens Mount will not just break off and yes if you drop your lens and it breaks the warranty does not cover that. The same applies to the camera and its like that all manufacturers.

Folks:

I got some water leaked into the lens but luckily it still works well and the pictures look fine. However, the lens shows some stains and I like to get rid of these stains if it does not cost an arm and a leg. Please advise.

Thanks in advance.

Answer:
Yes, but you will be shooting in DX crop mode and it defeats the purpose of shooting with a full frame sensor. Also, the megapixels will be reduced to 10.5 MP
the equivalent lens in FX would be the AF-S NIKKOR 24-120mm f/4G ED VR

Answer:
It is fully compatible with the D5200. When looking at lenses you need them to have the AF-S or older AF-I designation, these are lenses that have built in focus motors. Your D5200 does not have a focus drive so you need the lenses to have focus motors.

Answer:
The AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR will work on the D700. However, this is a DX lens and DX lenses are not suitable for the D700 or any other full frame Nikon D-SLR camera.

Answer:
No it is not and the mount is plastic. Good rule of thumb for weather sealing is if the lens has a gold ring around the lens barrel it is weather sealed. (Nikon's premium lenses)

Answer:
18-105 is a better built lens, has VR (minimizes camera shake), more zoom. Use Nikon's comparison tool on their website.
