Convenient telephoto coverage with Vibration Reduction (VR)

The Nikon AF-S DX VR Zoom-NIKKOR 55-200mm f/4-5.6G IF-ED is an ideal telephoto zoom lens for those seeking a lightweight all-in-one lens or a companion lens for the 18-55mm kit lens that came with their camera. Vibration Reduction (VR) significantly reduces camera shake throughout the entire focal length, making sharp telephoto shots substantially easier to achieve. An ideal lens for sports, people and school events, this lens provides clear images with less blur.

Its pretty good but watch out at full zoom I purchase this lens when I purchased my camera about 10 months ago. The lens works fine unless you are at full zoom then things get a little sloppy. I would recommend a tripod with the VR function turned off if you are going to shoot at full zoom. Otherwise this lens works great. September 25, 2014
A Wonderful Complementary Lens When I purchased my new D3300 camera with 18-55mm VR II kit lens, the photo opportunities were immediately rewarding. However, in some situations I desired more than the available 55mm maximum focal length of the kit lens. The Nikon 55-200 VR lens has become a perfect complement. It matches my "normal" zoom lens in both image quality and ease of use, yet gives up to 3.5 times more reach. It is compact enough to fit in the same carrying case with the D3300 body and the original zoom lens, without the bulk and weight of older lenses owned in the past. I highly recommend it! pena a regulação do zoon ser na ponta das objetivas É pena A abertura da Lente ser feita na ponta da Lente , acho ridiculo e desmotiva a compra, pq não fizeram como a antiga 28-70 na regulação do zoom ? May 27, 2014
A Great Lens for the Price This lens is the one that's on my camera 80% of the time. The main reason is that it performs great, is very clear and the Auto Focus and VR options perform above what one would expect from a $250 lens. The second reason is that I frequently bang my camera into stuff. So if I damage a lens, better it be a $250 lens than a $1000 lens. May 12, 2014
Great value I purchased this lens to be a companion to my 18-55 and I have been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the glass and the function of the lens. I highly recommend this lens to the beginner or seasoned veteran! April 29, 2014

High Frequency Sound when I turn on VR

Mar 22, 2013 by

Was this helpful?helpful0unhelpful0
I just bought today a new one, it was sealed with everything packed inside so there is no chance of not being new. When I turned VR on though and semi-clicked to let the lens focus it produced a constant high frequency sound (which stops when I let the button) and I am wondering if this is normal or maybe a malfunction.

If anyone could help I would be thankful.

Answer:
Yes, this lens is compatible with the D600. Your lens is a DX lens - which means it was made for Nikon cameras that have Nikon's DX sensor. The D600 has a feature, off the shooting menu within Image Area, called Auto DX Crop. If you turn that on the camera will automatically select a DX crop when it detects a DX lens is attached.

I am looking for a lens for my D40 camera to photograph indoor and outdoor sports. I am considering the 55-200 or the 55-300. What do you suggest?

Answer:
The AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6G IF-ED and the AF-S DX NIKKOR
55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR are ideal lenses for sports, people and school events, these lenses provide clear images with less blur. These lenses are equipped with vibration reduction that will stabilize the images and give a crisp sharp image. They are both the same speed because of the matching aperture.
