Best lens ever This is the best lens ever. I use it for everything and have had the most amazing results. So sharp. Takes the most beautiful shots of eyes and sleeping babies. Love it and recommend it to everyone. August 1, 2010
Best kept secret If you honestly think you have to spend a boat load of money on a 50mm you are sadly mislead. I have used this lens on my D800 for the last 15 months. So, before you bash D800 users for using this lens, keep in mind that this glass is so sharp it will make you weep. Exactly what a D800(e) needs. Exceedingly light, fast focus, dead on sharp. This is a great walk around lens and honestly after spending money on the holy trinity and a few other lenses "pros" tell you you must have....I keep this on almost always. For the price you can not go wrong, you will be more than pleased with it's performance. Get it, you won't be sorry. The only other 50 I like is the 50mm f1.2 AI-s, but this 1.8 is just so much more fun. October 16, 2013
Awesome sharpness! This lens is fantastic, fast, sharp and bright! A great lens to walk around with and not take up much space! April 22, 2013
Excellent inexpensive little lens. I have owned this lens for some time now. I do not use it often since I shoot wildlife but when I do, the pictures are always sharp with excellent contrast. April 1, 2013
Captures great pictures on a budget! For its price this is an amazing lens. A must have for the camera bag. The build is stable even if being made out of plastics. Also a must for anyone who wants to learn photography. March 30, 2013

I just bought this 50mm 1.8/F AF lens for my Nikon D3200 and I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction for the manual focus.
I bought my D3200 a month ago and my other 2 lenses are AF-S. Im not opposed to learning how to manually focus, I just wish someone could point me in the right direction???

Answer:
You will only be able to use manual focus mode with AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D. The D3100 does not have a built in autofocus motor. In other for Nikon DSLR cameras to Autofocus with a lens, either the camera or the lens needs to have a built in focus motor. AF-I and AF-S Lenses have built in focus motor. Nikon DSLRs with built in focus motors have a Autofocus mode switch located below the lens removal button on the camera.

Answer:
Hi Scott, there is nothing you are doing wrong. In order for a DSLR to Autofocus with a lens, either the camera or the lens needs to have a built in autofocus motor. Neither the D5200 nor this lens have a built in focus motor, and therefore autofocus is not possible. Auto focus is only possible when AF-S or AF-I lenses which have built in autofocus motor are used with the D5200.
