AF-S Teleconverter TC-14E II 4.8 5 5 5
Great addition for a micro lens I bought this 1.4x teleconverter to add on to my Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR Micro lens, so I could get that little bit closer detail without losing too much quality. Losing just one stop of light and gaining 40% more focal length, this product is well worth the expense. The image clarity is still superb. Perhaps the main drawback is that it only works with the more expensive AF-S and AF-I lenses. July 1, 2011
Wonderful extra reach I have the TC-14e I, and love the extra reach this provides especially on a 70-200, 300 etc.On a fast lens it is great and focus for me is fast too. April 14, 2011
Essential Kit I bought this gem when I got my 300/4 AF-S. Provides a wonderful 420/5.6 that focuses to 4.8 feet - almost a macro lens. I also like it with my 105 macro for magnifications greater that 1:1 and more working distance. Focus speed is adequate and I notice negligible loss of sharpness even wide open. A perfect addition to any lens that can take it. December 3, 2010
Works great with telephotos Nice performance with 200-400 and 600mm lenses when used in full sun. Focus speed not noticeably slower, image quality still very good. August 2, 2010
A good addition to my lens collection. I am an advanced amateur and I've been using this teleconverter on a Nikon D200 with a 70-200 f2.8 VR lens. I am not very experienced in using this kind of accessories, but the results are pretty impressive. Easy to use, it does pretty well what it's supposed to do. Maybe it's a little bit expensive, but the results are worth it. Recommended. July 30, 2010

The lens cap is stuck on the lens? Most of it is free but one of the edges will not loosen? What should I do? I don't want to harm the lens mount?

Answer:
Yes it can but it will depend on what lens you are hoping to use as not all lenses will accept or can be used with a tc.

Answer:
From the user's manual:
"Attaching to the lens
When removing the lens from the camera body to attach the teleconverter, make sure that the camera's
power is turned off and avoid direct sunlight.
Attach the teleconverter to the lens so that the teleconverter's lens mounting index is aligned with the
aperture index on the lens. Taking care not to press the lens release tab, turn the teleconverter
counterclockwise (with the lens facing away from you) until it clicks into place.
To remove: Slide back the teleconverter's lens release tab gzand turn the teleconverter clockwise (with
the lens facing away from you).
Attaching teleconverter to camera body
Make sure that the camera's power is turned off and avoid direct sunlight.
Attach the camera to the lens/teleconverter assembly so that the camera's mounting index is aligned with
the teleconverter-camera index on the teleconverter. Taking care not to press the camera's lens release
button, turn the camera body counterclockwise (with the camera body facing away from you) until it
clicks into place.
• If your camera has a lift-up meter coupling lever, make sure that the meter coupling lever is correctly
positioned. (For details, see your camera instruction manual.)
To remove: While pressing the lens release button on the camera body, turn the camera body clockwise
(with the camera body facing away from you)."

You can find the instructions by following this link and looking under AF-S Teleconverters: http://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/13948#Anchor-17

I have the first AF 80-200mm f/2.8 lens (the version that immediately preceded the "D" version). I would like to know which teleconverters are available to support metering and autofocus. The manual that came with the lens recommended the older teleconverters that supported metering but not autofocus. I would like to know if any of the newer teleconverters support AF with this AF lens.
