Ultra-fast f/1.4 prime lens for exquisite sharpness and bokeh

With outstanding NIKKOR optics and an ultra-fast f/1.4 maximum aperture, the AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4D delivers superb resolution and color reproduction and a classic 50mm angle of view. Its manual aperture control ring enables smooth adjustments during Live View shooting. Fast enough for shooting in just about any light, it’s an ideal walk-around (multi-purpose) lens for photography and HD video recording.

Beautiful background blur

Achieve more natural depth of field

Nothing quite isolates and captures the subject of a portrait like a lens that is capable of achieving spectacular background blur (bokeh). When you need to isolate your subject from its background—whether shooting stills or HD videos—the AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4D renders a beautiful, natural background blur at its wider aperture settings. Manual control of that aperture means you can make smooth adjustments, even during Live View shooting.

The beauty is in the details

Fast enough for shooting in any light

Shooting with only available light can prove challenging, but the AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4D is fast enough for nearly any type of light. Its f/1.4 maximum aperture and outstanding NIKKOR optics broaden your range of shooting opportunities. Create images you never thought possible.

Excellent portrait lens on FX or DX I purchased this lens when I had my D80. It stuck with me on my D7000, and my D600. It's an excellent lens to use for portraits because you can really isolate your subject from the background. The low light capabilities are great, and auto focus in dark locations is much better than 3rd party lens manufacturers. I highly recommend this lens for individuals who really want to get creative with depth of field and have a solid workhorse for walking around. September 4, 2013
Glass came from HEAVEN.! I bought this lens two weeks ago, have done two shoots with it at 1.4 in daylight & artificial light as well. I can proudly say that the D.O.F you get from this lens, DOESN'T COMPARE WITH ALL THE OTHERS OUT THERE. Reason? 1. "TACT SHARP QUALITY/FOCUSING", 2. "SOFT, CREAMY D.O.F", 3. "IDEAL/PERFECT CHOICE FOR D-MOVIES". I own a D800, Its ISO RANGE and the MAXIMUM APPERTURE of this lens, its just PHENOMENOL. Really LIGHT WEIGHT and HANDY, its like im holding A MILLION DOLLAR BILL. :) June 15, 2013
Wow for Portraits This is real a fast and easy lens for natural light portrait photos even in very low light conditions. Bokeh is exquisite even on a DX body. Look forward to using this lens on a FX camera when i have one. March 13, 2013
Fantastic lens! Great color and sharpness Supurb performance at 1.4f and up Auto focus is fast, manual focus smooth and quick I wouldn't trade it for a G lens, at any time. The only competition this 50mm lens would have is the Nikon 1.2f manual, 50mm. April 14, 2012
Now I´ll nevver need another lens Great lens for many kind off shoots. Will recomand you to have it with you anytime when you leave for a shoot. February 22, 2012

Answer:
The AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D is compatible with the Df. The AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D does not have an auto focus motor, the maximum aperture is f/1.4. The special edition does have a silent wave motor and has a maximum aperture of f/1.8.

Answer:
Nikon operates factories all across the globe and each operates to the same high standard. While individual cameras are marked with their country of manufacture, we cannot make a blanket statement about the country of origin of a specific type/model of camera.
