Frame your storm photograph before it happens. Remember that the sky is your subject, so dramatic clouds are what you’re framing for, and then you hope that lightning will happen in that space. Keep the horizon in the lower third of the frame with the sky the top two-thirds.

Shooting a lightning storm can be exciting. Use a tripod and set you camera to record a long exposure. With D-SLRs, 15 seconds is a good start, but you may have to use up to 30 seconds, or bulb setting (where the shutter stays open as long as you hold down the shutter button). Because you never know when the lightning will occur, keep shooting for best results. And don’t forget the tripod! Otherwise you’ll have blurry photos.

Try different kinds of framing with your flower shots. Instead of centering the flower, try placing it off to the left or the right of the frame. This will allow for you to be creative with the negative space (areas without the subject). Look for the patterns of other out of focus flowers in the background.

Fits perfectly! It does not appear that "bugman" reviewed this specific case: look at the photo, compare with the photo of this case. I just received this case for my S8100 and it fits "like a glove". I like the magnetic closure, which has just the right strength to do its job, and I like the "notch" on one edge of the case to allow for the use of the safety strap supplied with the camera. hard to find locally bought the nikon coolpix s8100 @best buy and card and a after market case (to save a dollar or two?)also......per."mr.best buy"..it'll (the case)work/fit....*note,can't try to see if case fits, at the store, because camera packaging "rigged" for theives and got to wait until you pay for it until "jr.best buy" unlocks it with the golden key and by that time,you just want to git home to jump into the goodies you just bought..........got home ,it fits, sort of....... only if you jam it in there, and pry the camara out with a butter knife, to git it out.....went back to best buy to return aftermarket case, this time bought the nikon case, again per."mr.best buy" this time it'll fit......wrong, it's for a nikon coolpix camera yes, but not for the s8100 , my mistake should've taken camera with me to see if it'll fit.........wrong .wrong.wrong.should've just bought the correct case from mr.nikon himself and maybe even the camera!.....what is so hard, git the camera, git the case, and go......but no! if mr.best buy, does not have the correct case, just say so,it won't hurt my feelings, please mr.nikon do something about this, send the correct cases, even if mr.best buy wants to order wrong cases........currently have nikon in my daughter's mini pink "make up/toy/glitter bag"........i told my wife to order one from nikon ....but knowing her she's going to stay with using the pink bag........by the way, we have other nikon products, great products,no problems ever, just problem with getting this case locally.i would recommend this case, if i could git it, with no problems, locally. Too small for S8100 Nope, it won't fit. Just threw mine away once I got it. if you have the Coolpix S8100, look for another case. It's very annoying that Amazon and even Nikon sell this as a case specifically for the S8100. It's the wrong case for this camera. See photo uploaded. December 11, 2010

Also, the reviews are contradictory. Does it fit the S8100 camera properly, or does it not? I can't find a case anywhere locally that fits so this is kind of important.

I would suggest checking dimensions of case and then check dimensions of camera which you should find under tech or specs of your model camera.
