This cord is out of stock. Would a universal camcorder A/V cable with 1/8" jack accomplish the same thing? i have a D40X.

Currently we don’t have the EG-D100 video cable in stock at Nikon Store but you can get it at any online dealer. We do not recommend using thrid party products.

Answer:
This appears to be miss print. The EG-D100 is not compatible with the D800. You would use a (Type C) HDMI cable. This is not supplied with the D800 camera.

Please refer to the D800 brochure page 26 System Chart for further information. http://www.nikonusa.com/en_US/o/Y6wrkA9OU_z04IreazIXl_22UII/PDF/D800_Brochure.pdf
