My favourite battery This is my Nikon D300 and my two EN-EL3e battery... July 5, 2012
Lots of power, lasts forever I have three batteries that I cycle through my D80. At the end of each day, I take one out of the charger and put the used one in. Truth be told, I probably only need two batteries. My oldest battery is five years old and still holds a charge like it is new. My camera says all three batteries are acting like 100% new. I get about 700 shots per charge (I don't use the flash much). One minor complaint -- the camera could be designed to make it even easier to figure out how to put the battery in. But this is a small point and the designers perhaps have done as much as they could. The charger blinks when it is charging, steady when fully charged. If it were me, I'd have a yellow light and a green light instead. A shorter cord on the charger would make it easier to haul around. I wish the new Nikon's took the same battery. I don't see the need to change the design. April 7, 2012
Exelent like I own the d300s and this battery performs great on it l recently took over 2000 12 bit RAW photos and about 30 mins of 720p video and the battery still had 10% left so overall i cant complain in any way also gonna get another one for the MB D10 i just got today!! December 22, 2010
The first rechargable I've liked This is the first rechargeable battery that I've liked. They last a very long time, charge well and I can use these in my D90 and future D300s and D700. I hate having to carry different batteries for everything, these make things easier. July 28, 2010
This has been a great battery for about almost seven years now. Ihave a D70s and finally need a battery. My name is John i have always been interested in photography.I have had other brands but once i bought a nikon i have had no bad issues with them excellent quality and well made lenses. Answer:
Battery life will vary with condition of the battery, temperature and how is used. Make sure to keep the battery contacts clean since soiled contacts can reduce battery performance. Use the battery immediately after charging sin it will lose their charge if left unused. Battery Life (shots per charge) 950 shots (CIPA) .

How can I tell if the life of my EN-EL3e Rechargeable is the problem when it comes to camera functionality? I've had my current battery for 5 years and auto focus has slowed down although battery is fully charged.

Answer:
At this point I would buy a new battery, if it doesn't improve the autofocus you will have a spare. I have never had a battery last that long, so I think your kind of lucky.

Answer:
Nikon recommends getting the entire ac cord if you are using with higher voltage. The cords are pretty generic.

I left my D300s on over night and the batteries where dead. I charged both of them and when I put each one back in the camera it says its only got one bar and camera will not come on. I can not get to any functions of the camera nor will it power on.

Is the batteries just dead and need to be replaced? They are working fine on my D80 just not on the D300s. I have a grip for the d300s as well and tried to use just AA batteries but does not do anything maybe due to the camera settings to see a EN-EL33e.

My camrea is about 3-4 years old and I do about 5 shoots a week. if that helps as well.

I need help ASAP i have a few shoots next week and really don't want to use my D80.

Answer:
If the batteries are working properly in the D80, but not in the D300s, there are a few things to look at:

1 - Do the batteries actually perform properly in the D80 (e.g., do they last through several hours of use, or several hundred images?). If so, the power controller in the D300s may be damaged. That's rare given the cirumstances (left the camera on overnight#, but not unheard of. You may also try using a third battery #loaner#, see if that works.

2 - Check both the batteries and battery compartment contacts. Look for signs of wear, scratches, or dust. Blow out dust with a blower, and you may be able to use a pencil eraser to clean up and gum or residue on the batteries or contacts #be sure to blow out the eraser residue when you're done!#

3 - Check to ensure that the battery is seating in the main #on board) battery is seating properly in the battery compartment. There should be a slight resistance as you close the battery door, but its operation should be smooth.

I will be camping in Africa for 2 weeks. Can I use a Brunton solar panel to charge the battery. What size do I need. In other words, what watts, miliamps, and volts, and can this be done via the USB port on the camera?
