Loved it. I bought my D5100 with kit lens & purchased the AF-S NIKKOR 55-300mm DX VR lens also on 16 Mar 2012 and the last 2 times I've gone to charge my battery it's still "blinking/charging" after being plugged in for over 7 hours. Am I doing something wrong or is it time to replace it and it's NOT EVEN A YEAR OLD YET?!?!??? January 31, 2013
Great Battery I bought the d5100 and so far its been great. I have recently started doing night time, time lapses of the stars with about 400-500 photos of 10-15 second exposures, i was at first concerned since there are no battery pack options. But it turns out my d5100 usually has at least half of its battery left when finished. Great battery, highly recommended! June 27, 2012
good batery i took 410 shots with 377 in built in flash...... good battery.... October 11, 2011
Works Fine I think that the review by Eggroll, back in March, explains it all, and gets my applause. When I got my D5100 and started using it, I was taken back by how quickly the battery ran down - on the first charge of the battery. I was concerned about the use of Live View, the 800 gram internal focus 28-300 lens, and video photography. So I bought a backup battery and read up on two-battery grips for the camera. I use the camera during day long cruises (hikes) through the mountains. But everything seems to be working fine after the second charge and as-necessary use of Live View. I shot 200 pix per day for several days with no change in the camera's battery level indicator. September 8, 2011
Great battery life.. I have had the D3100 over a month now. Took several hundred photos in Thailand, Singapore and Phoenix AZ before returning home. Only had to charge it once. 3 week trip. I never used live view and only a few flash photos. After I returned I took about 50 shots at a B-Day party, indoor, all flash. Batter it still in it and shows about 25% left. June 1, 2011

Answer:
Its more likely to be a problem with the battery pack rather than the battery, seeings as its a non Nikon item I doubt as to whehter Nikon can or will do anything about it. Your best bet would be to contact whoever supplied it or the manufacturer of the pack for any issues.

Answer:
Yes, Nikon Digital SLR cameras have an auto switching (from 100v to 240V 50hz/60hz) battery charger that will work in most countries around the world. A/C adapters have similar characteristics. Always check the specification plate on your other battery chargers or A/C adapters as third party products may not support dual voltage systems. We do not suggest the use of third party battery chargers and A/C adapters with Nikon equipment.
Note that the cord included with the Nikon charger or A/C adapter is designed for 110 volt use only. A power cord suitable for the local power system should be obtained on arrival, most airport shops and computer suppliers will carry these items which are typically used for laptop conmputer power supply connections. Be sure that the new cord you buy fits the Nikon adapter you wish to use it with and that it is rated for the voltage in your new location. While not recommended, a simple plug adapter may be used, but caution should be taken as the cord Nikon supplies is not rated for the higher voltage and may heat or fail.

I want to be able to use the generic batteries with my Nikon P7000 but the 1.2 firmware is preventing me from doing it.
Worked fine before the ugrade to 1.2 now my camera doesn't work at all.
How can I downgrade?
I put the firmware 1.1 on my camera's SD card root and tried to look for it on the firmware menu item.
It doesn't show up at all.
Has anyone here done this yet?
Let us know how.
Anyone else want to downgrade too?

Answer:
If you try to downgrade , u could totally screw up your camera, not recommended...
Also, generic batteries have been known to completely fry your camera...leak...get overheated..etc...
I myself would not recommend either...
As batteries go, there is a reason you pay more for Nikon batteries...you get what you pay for...

Answer:
If the charger is flickering it means battery error. If ambient temperature is not 41 to 95 °F, wait until temperature is in this range before charging. The blinking (not flickering) light in the charger means is charging. When is solid light it means that the battery is fully charge.

Answer:
Nikon does not have such an item available. What I use is a power inverter purchased from a local automotive parts store. It plugs into the cigarette lighter / accessory power outlet and converts 12 volt DC to 120 AC. Then plug the Nikon charger into the inverter.

The one I use for EN-EL14 is rated at 200 Watts and charges just as fast as plugged onto the wall at my home.

Make sure to read the instructions and safety notes for the inverter, and don't let your car battery drain too low.

Good luck.

Hello-
I just purchased Nikon D5100 from Costco. I put the battery into the charger. For the first 40 minutes the light was blinking on / off and from previous questions it means battery is charging. I then got a solid line about 40 minutes later. According to past questions it means battery is fully charged when it's a solid line. I then tried the battery in my camera and it didn't work. I then put the battery back on charge. It blinks for a few minutes and then goes to the solid again. Is there something wrong? Is the battery still charging since it's the solid line. I know you are supposed to charge it for 1.5 hours but I got a solid line only after 40 minutes. Please help.

If you just purchased take it back to Costco and exchange it. The battery has a partial charge from the factory so it doesn't necessarily take the full time to charge.when the light stops blinking it is fully charged Assuming you are installing the battery correctly I would take it back.

I got Nikon D5100 camera from Costco in June. I charged the battery for first time use. it worked fine. I think when I charged it for the second or third time, the light kept on blinking, but, at least when I inserted the battery, camera showed full charge.

However, now, the light keeps blinking, and it does not seem to be charged even if I keep it overnight for charging. The battery was completely discharged. I am trying to charge it in another country, but, that should not matter. Once, I get back to US, I will try it again, if it does not work, I will have to get a replacement since it has been less than 6 months, and it should be under warranty.

I will also get a new battery.

However, I am little disappointed with Nikon battery quality.

I used a travel (240 to 100) ac converter to charge my EN-EL 14 and now it doesn't work.

I purchased my P7700 in the usa. Charged it once there. Returned to Hungary. I charged the battery once here using a simple travel converter. I know it says not to use a 'travel converter' in the manual, but in the forum it also says, "most airports carry wall converters to charge your battery". Seems like a contradiction. Point being, my camera won't turn on. My MH-24 chager stopped blinking, after about an hour (sounds right), but the camera does not turn on. Do you think I fried the battery? What kind of adapter should I buy in order to avoid this in the future. (I am in Hungary, EU).

Hi,

i have read in an other question that the EN-EL14 battery doesn't have a serial number but only a lot number.
I have 2 original nikon EN-EL14 batteries, can I identify the older battery with product lot?

Thanks

I currently have a Nikon lithium ion battery pack EN-EL14 and want to know how to maintain its longevity. In particular, could you please advise if the battery needs to be charged fully on the first and subsequent charges? Many thanks!
