Great Battery
I bought the d5100 and so far its been great. I have recently started doing night time, time lapses of the stars with about 400-500 photos of 10-15 second exposures, i was at first concerned since there are no battery pack options. But it turns out my d5100 usually has at least half of its battery left when finished. Great battery, highly recommended!

Works Fine
I think that the review by Eggroll, back in March, explains it all, and gets my applause.
When I got my D5100 and started using it, I was taken back by how quickly the battery ran down - on the first charge of the battery. I was concerned about the use of Live View, the 800 gram internal focus 28-300 lens, and video photography. So I bought a backup battery and read up on two-battery grips for the camera.
I use the camera during day long cruises (hikes) through the mountains.
But everything seems to be working fine after the second charge and as-necessary use of Live View. I shot 200 pix per day for several days with no change in the camera's battery level indicator.

Great battery life..
I have had the D3100 over a month now. Took several hundred photos in Thailand, Singapore and Phoenix AZ before returning home. Only had to charge it once. 3 week trip. I never used live view and only a few flash photos. After I returned I took about 50 shots at a B-Day party, indoor, all flash. Batter it still in it and shows about 25% left.

Great battery if you use it right
The poor reviews on this battery are most likely from those who use the LiveView instead of the view finder. If you're using LiveView mode, constantly focusing, and using the pop up flash, then of course you're going to wear out the battery quickly- but that's true for any battery.
I use the view finder with the SB-600 speedlight flash and can shoot for 5+ hours before needing to change to my spare. Just remember that the LiveView and pop-up flash use the most power. Omit or limit those, and you'll find the battery lasts anywhere from 3-8 times longer.
With any new rechargeable battery, make sure you go through at least a few charge-discharge cycles to get the full potential out of it. Once it's fully charged, leave it on the charger another hour or two. Typically a fully charged status indicates the battery has 85%+ charge; leaving it on the charger a little longer brings it closer to 100%. When it get's low, use the LiveView / flash to wear it down all the way before recharging. It really does help when you go through cycles like this - and an even better reason to have a spare to condition the batteries properly.

Its more likely to be a problem with the battery pack rather than the battery, seeings as its a non Nikon item I doubt as to whehter Nikon can or will do anything about it. Your best bet would be to contact whoever supplied it or the manufacturer of the pack for any issues.

Answer:
Yes, Nikon Digital SLR cameras have an auto switching (from 100v to 240V 50hz/60hz) battery charger that will work in most countries around the world. A/C adapters have similar characteristics. Always check the specification plate on your other battery chargers or A/C adapters as third party products may not support dual voltage systems. We do not suggest the use of third party battery chargers and A/C adapters with Nikon equipment.Note that the cord included with the Nikon charger or A/C adapter is designed for 110 volt use only. A power cord suitable for the local power system should be obtained on arrival, most airport shops and computer suppliers will carry these items which are typically used for laptop conmputer power supply connections. Be sure that the new cord you buy fits the Nikon adapter you wish to use it with and that it is rated for the voltage in your new location. While not recommended, a simple plug adapter may be used, but caution should be taken as the cord Nikon supplies is not rated for the higher voltage and may heat or fail.

I want to be able to use the generic batteries with my Nikon P7000 but the 1.2 firmware is preventing me from doing it.
Worked fine before the ugrade to 1.2 now my camera doesn't work at all.
How can I downgrade?
I put the firmware 1.1 on my camera's SD card root and tried to look for it on the firmware menu item.
It doesn't show up at all.
Has anyone here done this yet?
Let us know how.
Anyone else want to downgrade too?

If you try to downgrade , u could totally screw up your camera, not recommended...Also, generic batteries have been known to completely fry your camera...leak...get overheated..etc...
I myself would not recommend either...
As batteries go, there is a reason you pay more for Nikon batteries...you get what you pay for...
