Very Good Battery I have this battery in my Coolpix P500 , I have taken over 200 Shots in daylight with the battery, Even in night with the flasher, i have taken over 100 Photos. I need an extra battery to keep with me. April 29, 2013
Nikon EN-EL5 rechargeable battery I have had excellent results from this battery- lasts as long as expected when shooting, holds charge well when not in use, no "memory" problems. I use this with my P5100 and my P100. Through the NY internet Photo stores have found OEM and aftermarket spare batteries for $20.00-$26.00. Even at MSRP it's a fair price. I like that the charger is external so I can use the cameras while recharging a spare. November 22, 2011
December 22, 2013
Poor life span This is one of the worst batteries I've ever owned. It really doesn't last long at all. Had I known this beforehand, I would not have bought the camera. I should have stuck with Canon! June 3, 2014
Bateria dura pouco Bateria dura pouco e no visor apresenta cheia mas em seguida acaba. December 11, 2013

Is there a Nikon or aftermarket adapter which can fit into the battery cavity of the P510, which would allow the use of AA batteries instead of a rechargable device?

Please can you let us know for how long should this battery be charged? How long should this battery be charged if it is fully discharged or how long if the camera shows half strength on the battery.

The charging of the battery does not stop automatically once it reaches full charge.(like in mobile phones) That's why I'm worried that I'll overcharge the battery and spoil it.

I'll either use the EH-69P charger or charge by connecting the camera to an PC's USB port.

Thanks,

I go to remote places where I do not have access to electricity. I need to charge my Nikon P90 camera batteries either via USB or Solar? Is this possible? Any tips would be really appreciated.

Answer:
All nikon EN-EL5 batteries are 1100 mah, use of any battery other than a genuine Nikon might damage the camera and will void your warranty.

Answer:
Nikon operates factories all across the globe and each operates to the same high standard. While individual cameras are marked with their country of manufacture, we cannot make a blanket statement about the country of origin of a specific type/model of camera.

It seems the battery life is no where near what should be expected. Most of pics are taken w/o flash and I even try using the 'diopter viewfinder' as much as possible to save on battery life, but all to no avail.

I do use the 'telephoto' function extensively, with camera being powered OFF between shots, but that still should not exhaust the battery so quickly.

Whenever we know we will be requiring camera for 'many' pics to be taken at 'family gatherings' or other special events, I always recharge both the camera battery and spare the night before leaving.

Do these batteries have the old-fashioned 'memory' whereby the more you charge the battery before it is fully exhausted, the less time it will provide when next used, etc...?

My wife has a Canon PowerShot Elph 110E which seems to take much 'clearer' pics and that camera's battery lasts through 'dozens' of pics before needing recharging.

I am very disappointed with my P80 and would have expected a much better product from Nikon :-(
