Funcionalidad al 100 Desde que compre mi nikon, nunca me ha fallado, su funcionalidad es excelente y permite tirar buenas fotos. June 29, 2012
First time DSLR owner and loving it. I've had my D5000 now for just over a year and a half and I've loved every second of it. It's never failed me and I have nothing but great things to say about this camera. The images that it takes can be crystal clear if proper techniques are applied. I currently have the 18-55 kit lens, the 55-300 Nikkor lens, and now the 35mm 1.8 Nikkor lens. I STRONGLY suggest the 35mm 1.8 or the 50mm 1.4 (or the 1.8) if you are looking to shoot indoors. To add to the indoor lighting issues that are sometimes found, I love the wide ISO range offered by this camera. It makes it VERY versatile. I've shot everything from portraits to long exposure (night) and outdoor sports. I can't wait to see what else I can do with this camera. May 22, 2012
Excellent! I got my Nikon D5000 for Christmas back in 2010 and it has not failed me, not even once. Simple and easy to use, I've constantly used it for the last year and a half, especially for my photography classes. It is actually much more simple to use than the provided Olympic cameras at my school. I definitely don't regret buying it! May 17, 2012
Love the unit works well for the uses. Auto not well after heave use in need of a back fast some noise at 800iso 200iso but photos are somewhat alright April 26, 2012
All in one! I've been a Nikon user ever since, starting with my D60 which really is fine and upgraded into D5000. This camera is really good. It shoots great photos. I captures good videos. It's just that, you need to treat this like your child. It's precious. April 20, 2012

Hi, I purchased the Nikon D5000 about 3 years ago and have been using it since as my main shooter at local shoots. I just got back from a big wedding and was pulling up the camera to view the photos I had taken, after taking photos I view them on the LCD to make sure how they look before I go on to the next photo. I am overly upset because I went to check the photos and over 100 of them are gone, and not in a row all over the time frame I used to take the photos which was 2 days and 2 nights. I am missing all of the father daughter dance photos and some other very essential photos. I have none of the father daughter dance now and am totally at a loss with this job. My couple will love what I do have but not when they see there are important parts I missed completely. I can not figure out how this happened, I have never had this happen before and am not sure what to do to ensure it wont happen again. Please reply ASAP and help me with how to make sure it wont happen again and maybe also why or how this did happen now??

I have a Nikon d5000 and cannot figure out how to keep the shutter open longer than the 30 second shutter speed programmed. I know it has a bulb setting, but from what I can tell I must keep my finger on the shutter release...which of course is not practical or effective for getting crisp night shots. Help?

Thanks!

Manual auto switch on lens set to M/A
F stop on lens set to red number.
Last, try cleaning the electrical contacts on the lens and camera.

Which Lens is Better for D5000 ? (AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4D or AF-S DX 35mm f/1.8G)

I have D5000 DX body and planning to buy a fast lens. i'm stuck to choose between "AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4D" and "AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G Lens",
i was quiet leaning towards 50mm f/1.4D as i had plans to upgrade to FX camera body next year. But now lost interest in upgrading to FX body.. willing to wait for good Mirror-less camera with bigger than CX sensor to come from Nikon, which i think might be around 2 yrs more wait.
So my Confusion now is, to get good image quality and sharpness (for portraits and closeups) thro my DX body, which lens shall i choose from above two ?! as the picture angle is 31° 30′ in 50mm for DX body and 44° in 35mm. but the lens construction is better in 35mm.

my main concern is image quality and sharpness (AUTO FOCUS AF-S is not a concern for me i guess ?! even thou some say 50mm if hard to focus manually ) .... any Help appreciated. Thank you.

When I turn on my D5000 the monitor displays camera settings instead of displaying what the lens sees. It used to be that my monitor acted as a viewfinder when the camera was turned on; I composed all pictures by looking at my monitor and not at the small viewfinder. I only pressed Live View when taking videos (I hardly ever used Live View). I reset the camera to its default settings but I've not been able to fix this problem. Please assist! This started happening about 3 months ago (bought camera in June 2010)

Your statement is confusing, live view is using the monitor to compose photo, the viewfinder is not live view. push LV if you want to use the monitor, push again to use viewfinder.

Answer:
The D5000 doesn't have the feature for Infrared Photography. All digital cameras are sensitive to both UV and IR radiation but since capturing these spectral ranges can lower the image quality of visible light images, they are filtered out in the camera.
However, many of our cameras can still be used for this type of shooting. For IR shooting you can use an "87c" type filter to prevent the exposure of any visible light and just expose IR. While we can't offer any support for this type of shooting there are many third-party web sites which discuss in-depth IR/UV shooting.

Answer:
Since the D5000 doesn't have a commander mode feature with the built-in flash you'll need the SU-800 Wireless Speedlight Commander in order to trigger your speedlight wirelessly. Also, you can use the SB-700 mounted in the SU-4 (will convert the speedlight into a slave) and trigger it with the flash from the D5000. Please note that pre-flash may occur if there's low light condition for metering.

The compatibility chart on this model is ridiculously confusing and no help whatsoever. Every lens I find has one of the letters in it that won't work, including the AF-I and AF-S.

Will the Nikon Normal AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D Autofocus Lens work with the D5000? A site I found selling this say the AF mode won't work? Why? What one does? Please clarify. Is Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor Lens the same lens but a different description? The more I look at these the more confused I am. Is the 35mm AF?

And what is the difference between AF-I and AF-S? Then what do the G or D AF mean?

It would be nice if there was some simple reference page explaining what all these codes mean for someone who just wants to take decent pictures. Or is there?
