Funcionalidad al 100 Desde que compre mi nikon, nunca me ha fallado, su funcionalidad es excelente y permite tirar buenas fotos. June 29, 2012
First time DSLR owner and loving it. I've had my D5000 now for just over a year and a half and I've loved every second of it. It's never failed me and I have nothing but great things to say about this camera. The images that it takes can be crystal clear if proper techniques are applied. I currently have the 18-55 kit lens, the 55-300 Nikkor lens, and now the 35mm 1.8 Nikkor lens. I STRONGLY suggest the 35mm 1.8 or the 50mm 1.4 (or the 1.8) if you are looking to shoot indoors. To add to the indoor lighting issues that are sometimes found, I love the wide ISO range offered by this camera. It makes it VERY versatile. I've shot everything from portraits to long exposure (night) and outdoor sports. I can't wait to see what else I can do with this camera. May 22, 2012
Excellent! I got my Nikon D5000 for Christmas back in 2010 and it has not failed me, not even once. Simple and easy to use, I've constantly used it for the last year and a half, especially for my photography classes. It is actually much more simple to use than the provided Olympic cameras at my school. I definitely don't regret buying it! May 17, 2012
Love the unit works well for the uses. Auto not well after heave use in need of a back fast some noise at 800iso 200iso but photos are somewhat alright April 26, 2012
All in one! I've been a Nikon user ever since, starting with my D60 which really is fine and upgraded into D5000. This camera is really good. It shoots great photos. I captures good videos. It's just that, you need to treat this like your child. It's precious. April 20, 2012

Answer:
On the review section, no, the person making the review can choose whichever lens he/she wants to use. I don't think Nikon uses the same lens for all of their sample photos, because most of them are submitted by people who don't work for Nikon, so I don't think they even know.

Answer:
No, not all photos in our website were taken with the D5000. If you go to the D5000 site you will find a lot of sample images taken with it. Lenses used for these photos can go from a wide-angle, telephoto or Macro lens.

I just got the D5000 and I have been going through the manual but still have a question. How do I get the shutter speed to be as fast as it goes? I have a 5 month old and he moves very quick to get good pictures. I have been playing with the shutter speed for it still is shooting slow?

Answer:
You go into Shutter Priority Auto on the mode dial (S) and then rotate the dial on the BACK OF THE CAMERA (Not on the top) left or right to select the shutter speed (Which is to the right of the F stop on the display) If you are shooting in low light you will need a high ISO setting and maybe flash. Hope this helps.

if you use the built-in flash, it'll stick at 1/60 in A mode, so either use S mode, or go to a higher ISO and don't use a flash.

Answer:
Yes, you just hold down the shutter button when the camera is in "continuous shutter-release mode" To put it in this mode, follow these instructions: When about to take a picture, press the button with an "i" on it at the bottom of the left side of your camera. Then go to the "release mode" setting under the ISO setting and press "ok." Then choose Continuous mode (icon has three stacked frames).

I have 2 lenses for my D5000. With both lenses, when VR is on, during the use of the shutter button, the image shifts in the view finder. When looking at the camera in the store, this does not happen...however both of my lenses at home do this. Why? Because of this...I have not wanted to use the VR.
Also when can I turn the VR on and off? Does the camera need to be off to switch to VR or does it not matter?

I was using my d5000 that i have had for 8 months camera normally I took one picture then it stopped recording the pictures. So I reformatted my SD card as well as reset both the camera and the setting but still every time i press the shutter button it clicks like it took a picture but then says "Folder contains no images" when taking the picture the flash works as well and the auto focus on the lens is working as well. The other issue i am experiencing is the Live View is showing black screen with data but does not stay like that or show image.

Answer:
There's the 55-300mm VR, the 70-300mm VR, and the 70-300mm (non VR.) (At least thats what I can think of right now..)
The 55-300mm VR has the lowest starting focal length, so it's the one I personally would go for. the 70-300mm VR is a bit more expensive, but it's great if you can afford it.
The 70-300mm (non VR) is much cheaper, but at telephoto focal lengths (probably anywhere between 200mm and 300mm) it's probably going to be very blurry.
If all of those are too expensive or they don't have something else you require, Maybe check out the the 55-200mm VR.

Answer:
If you buy the D5000 from the nikon site or in stores for the normal $630, it comes with an 18-55mm lens. You can buy it without the lens, but you will either not be able to take pictures, or the pictures you take will be extremely out of focus. You'll want to buy the kit with the 18-55mm VR, or buy the camera body and buy another lens.

Answer:
Nikon offers two types of autofocus digital camera bodies: those with a built-in focus drive motor and those which require a lens to have a motor. Cameras such as the D5000 do not have a focus motor in it so they require the lens to have the focusing motor – an “AF-S” lens. While these bodies can use a lens with no focus motor (an “AF” lens) you would have to manually turn the focus ring to bring the subject in to sharp focus. You have wide options of lenses to use with this camera.

Answer:
Yes, the D5000 is rated for 100,000 shutter counts. Obviously it won't die precisely on the 100,000th shot, it may die sooner or later. 100k shots should last you a few years though. You might want to have your camera checked out by Nikon or a store that offers it, maybe every year or so? Even that might be unnecessary, and it will cost some money. :P

Answer:
All digital cameras are sensitive to both UV and IR radiation but since capturing these spectral ranges can lower the image quality of visible light images, they are filtered out in the camera.

However, many of our cameras can still be used for this type of shooting. For IR shooting you can use an "87c" type filter to prevent the exposure of any visible light and just expose IR. While we can't offer any support for this type of shooting there are many third-party web sites which discuss in-depth IR/UV shooting.

Answer:
Yes they are, but only the AF-S can autofocus. Without AF-S you'll have to manual focus with the D5000.

While the camera is plugged in via the USB port, is it drawing power from the USB, or the battery? I ask because I want to leave it capturing images of the same scene for 24hrs, to make a time-lapse video sequence, but I dont want the battery to run out.

It will be using power from the battery, I would sugest using a power supply to keep it going for as long as you need it.

Answer:
Not sure if the camera will allow video recording at such great a length. Yuo will have to consult your manual for that one.
For wide angle how wide do you want to go, do you want zoom or fixed ?

The camera has not been dropped or damaged in any way. Is this repairable? Does the LCD get replaced or the entire camera?
