Super-telephoto zoom power in a sleek, stylish package.

Sure to turn heads, the COOLPIX S9400 sacrifices nothing for a sleek, stylish design. Packed inside its pocket-sized body is a powerful 18x zoom super-telephoto NIKKOR glass lens with lens-shift Vibration Reduction and Motion Detection. Both of these features are designed to help you take astonishing close-ups that are razor-sharp, even if your hands are a bit unsteady or your subject is moving fast. Its large 3.0-inch 614,000-dot OLED display features Clear Color Display technology and an anti-glare coating for easy viewing, even in direct sunlight. And with an 18.1-megapixel low-light CMOS image sensor, you can shoot without a flash in most low-light situations and enlarge your favorite shots to poster size! Superior low-light performance

Imagine being able to shoot without a flash at weddings, concerts, parties—anywhere your flash normally fires. You won't have to interrupt a moment to capture it, and your photos and HD videos will look more natural and true to your memory. The COOLPIX S9400 performs so well in low light situations that, in most cases, using the flash is optional. Of course, when the lighting is extremely poor and you need a flash, it'll be there.

Record superior videos

If you want a compact camera that shoots stunning Full HD videos, the COOLPIX S9400 delivers. 1080p Full HD means exceptional video quality. Record the action, then connect to an HDTV and watch your videos come alive. A built-in mic records high-quality audio in stereo. Your videos will look and sound phenomenal.

Sharper photos of moving subjects

When your subject is moving fast, Motion Detection automatically kicks in and selects a faster shutter speed and higher ISO (light sensitivity) to help you get sharper, clearer photos.

Flatter your friends and family

Create beautiful photos of the people you care about. Smart Portrait System activates several features ideal for portraits, like Face Priority AF, Skin Softening, Blink Warning and more.

Dazzle with every shot

Create truly exceptional photos and HD videos with the COOLPIX S9400. Its high-performance NIKKOR glass lens is paired with a 18.1-megapixel CMOS low-light image sensor for superior image quality, versatility and low-light performance. Your shots will impress even you.

Enjoy the view

The COOLPIX S9400's large, high-resolution OLED display makes it easy to compose your shots or monitor your video recording. Reviewing and sharing your creations is a pleasure, too—every shot looks fantastic on the display.

Turn the ordinary into extraordinary

Easily apply fun and creative Image Effects like Selective Color, Miniature, Skin Softening and more right from the camera—no need for additional photo or video-editing software.

Let the camera call the shots

Not sure which Scene Mode to choose? No problem! Select Scene Auto Selector and let the camera make the call. From Night Portrait to Backlighting, the COOLPIX S9400 will use the most optimal Scene Mode for your situation.

Great Features 18.1 megapixels, fantastic zoom, and a great price. Small and compact. What more could you ask for November 12, 2013
A very easy to use camera, that takes great photos, and video in Hi-definition. I have only used this camera for a short time, and still learning how to use all the different settings; but from what I have use, it takes great photos, takes a little time to learn how to use the panoramic settings, but once you figure it out, is does a great job, in viewing the entire area. I also paid a nice price for this camera, as it list for $299.00, and I purchased it for $179.00. June 25, 2013
Great features for a 'pocket-sized' camera! I love this camera! It's great to have the added zoom with the convenient small size. I take it with me I don't have the room for my D90, and I still want those great close-ups. Most recently I had it with me at a professional baseball game, and my photos are the envy of my friends and family! :) May 6, 2013
Good Camera, but could be better I just received this 2 days ago, so im still exploring the camera and its features. I really like the selective color feature as well as the pet one. the zoom works very well! the only problem is that the pictures come out blurry if the flash is not on when youre zoomed in. its a bit thick, but still fits into your pocket great for vacations and simple things. obviously not as good as my dslr, but its a keeper :) good job Nikon! December 11, 2013
Slow to react and catching lens... When it was new this camera had a quick reaction time now thousands of snaps later it is slow to react, the lens often gets stuck in the open mode and nothing can be done with it except to wait... then press the on of button and pray it will close and resume, which it does but meanwhile shots are lost and past...Also, it is not good with capturing quick action snaps ie from a moving vehicle snap is blurry... HOWEVER that said for stationary scenery outdoors and close ups of friends and animals this Nikon S9400 is great! April 10, 2014

With the digital zoom set to "on" within the setup menu, the camera still only zooms 18x and does not enter the digital zoom area.

I recently bought a Nikon L820 & took it to a concert. Although I was very close to the stage, many of the shots were blurry. I attempted to shoot in Sports scene mode, but that did not seem to help. In some shots, the foreground image or the body image would be clear, but the face would be blurry. I took the camera back to the retailer, and exchanged it per suggestion of the salesperson, for the S9400. If the 9400 is not a good option for concert photos, please let me know if there is another Nikon product I should consider. I am very frustrated since the L820 performed so poorly, any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Answer:
The date and time imprint can be turned off and on in the set up menu of the camera. However if an image has been taken with the date and time imprinted on the corner of the image, this cannot be removed unless editing was done to the image in software.
