pocket power Since we're not taking photos with our phone yet, we wanted another Nikon to fish out of our pockets and shoot pix from the boat or out on our walks. Our existing Coolpix P510, with 42X zoom, is the "heavy-lifter," for picking out wildlife and the L27 takes up the slack with a fine little 5X zoom. Good camera for folks who want economy with high-priced camera results. Delivers photos really well through the Nikon computer software, too. February 6, 2014
Definitely a good buy for the money! I bought my Coolpix L27 on Thanksgiving based mainly on the price, name, compactness and, I'm not disappointed. I did/do wish it had a stronger telephoto and a case/bag though, of course that would increase the price. I did use the video on it and the sound wasn't as good as hoped for while listening to it on the camera. Overall though, everything considered I'm very pleased. Would give it a 5 easily. Still takes great pix ... I bought it because of the AA battery feature as well as the more than sufficient pixel count. It has never failed me and takes darn fine pictures. Sure I have a D300 but this fits in my pocket. The worst picture is the picture you did not take. I am so pleased I may grab some extra cameras for friends while I can still buy this one... I'm no new comer to digital cameras and about a year ago I purchased one of the L27. I have read the manual through and through but cannot find out why there is a red blinking light on the back of the camera that will not go off. I am taking stills and can take only about 3 pictures when the red blinking starts (I don't even find it in the user manual). You can't take any more pictures, I've tried changing the batteries and the SD card, turning the camera off and on so many times I've given up. Please explain what causes that and what I can do to resolve the problem.

Also, I would think I would be able to shoot hundreds of photos in JPEG, what's the normal expectation using a 8GB card.

Thank you. Please email me your answers,

Answer:
Thank you.. However, I don't believe the camera should MAKE you set the date and time and also it should not PROHIBIT you from taking pictures (these are serious concerns as I see it). I've had tons of digital cameras before and this is a first. I've let the camera set almost a year without even using it because of these requirements.
