Great Camera...!!! I think in this price, It's a best thing. Image quality is excellent great zoom functionality. I am very much pleased with built quality also with the picture quality. I will highly recommend this product for the beginners. I think Nikon did a great job..!! May 8, 2013
BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!! I took this camera to the marina today and took sunset pictures and I took pictures of planes from across the bay and it still came out perfectly there is one minor flaw its you must hold it perfectly still but other than that its perfect for great pictures and amazing videos if you ask me I wish I would have bought it sooner ~!!!!!! March 14, 2013
Great, Multi-purpose camera. This is a fantastic camera, really easy to use for simple photography but if you're into more professional or academic photography then this is still for you. I'm still learning about all the different feature at least 6 months after I got it. All the different settings are really useful, I spend a lot of time in low light conditions taking photos (museums etc) and they all come out really clear. A great little camera, not looking to upgrade any time soon. March 1, 2013
L310 This was a Christmas gift, and my first step to a the bigtime, an SLR. This camera has it all and ease of use, Nikon has made great products for years, so this was an easy pick. For the price there is no better camera on the market, we love it February 21, 2013
Excellent Camera and Features and a very low-budget price I bought this camera in diwali. I tell you all I am very much satisfied with the picture quality. What to expect at his price range. It's macro mode is good when properly set on a object at proper distance. There are many other features. I thought a continuous shot mode (~19 images) will be of good quality but not upto satisfaction. Still a good camera. Alternate to this camera, with more 1-2k you can opt for L810 model. It has more optical zoom of 26x with lens of 16.1 Megapixel. February 3, 2013

Answer:
The L310 has a Best Shot Selector Feature that captures a series of up to 10 images when you press the shutter release and then saves only the sharpest image. Using this feature can help you capture a clearer shots of active children. You can find information on this feature on page 58 of the L310 manual.

The L310 also has Motion Detection and Vibration Reduction features that can help reduce the effect of subject movement. Motion Detection is not available with all shooting modes, see page 114 of the L310 manual for more information on this setting. Information on the Vibration Reduction option can be found on page 113 of the manual.

Another option is to shoot in the Sports Continuous Mode since that mode was created to freeze motion in active situations. Information on using this mode can be found starting on page 48 of the L310 manual.

The most effective way to reduce motion blur is to set the camera to use a faster shutter speed. The L310 does not allow you to select a specific shutter speed but you can influence the camera to choose a faster shutter speed by increasing your camera's sensitivity to light (ISO). Selecting a higher ISO setting will allow the camera to use faster shutter speeds thus reducing the likelihood of motion blur in your action shots. See page 59 of the L310 manual for information on changing your camera's ISO sensitivity settings.

For an informative article on shutter speed and exposure see this page on Nikonusa.com:

Answer:
Hard to say, but lets start with the obvious. Are you pushing the shutter button half way down to let the camera focus? Taking a photo is a 2 step process, push the shutter release half way down and a green light will light in the top middle of display then push shutter release all the way down. Hope that helps.

Answer:
The L310 is equipped with a red-eye reduction system which fires pre-flashes to reduce the effects of red-eye and will also detect and fix any red-eye that it detects. To turn this on, pop up the flash then press the lightning bolt icon on the multi-selector to view the Flash mode options. Use the up/down arrows on the multi-selector to highlight the "Auto with Red Eye Reduction" icon (a lightning bolt next to an eye - see attached picture). Once the icon is highlighted click OK to save the Flash mode. Detailed instructions on changing your Flash mode start on page 28 of the L310 manual.

Please note: Flash mode can only be changed when shooting in Auto mode, Smart Portrait mode and certain scene modes.

Answer:
The Coolpix L310 is fully automatic, so the settings will adjust depending on the mode the camera is in. To achieving a blur background, manual adjustments are required. This is not possible on this model. You can get a certain amount of this effect by setting your camera to portrait mode and shooting in a bright setting, but you may not always get the effect you desire.
If you would like a camera specifically to create bokeh photography we would recommend using a P range COOLPIX, the Nikon 1 series or a Nikon DSLR. These cameras require a slightly bigger investment, but they do offer more flexibility.

Answer:
It sounds like the camera is set to a mode that does not allow the use of the flash. Page 35-43 of the L310 manual describes the camera scene modes. It shows the default setting of the flash, and tells if the settings can be changed.

In addition, When using Continuous, BSS, or Multi- shot 16, the flash cannot be used.
