Great camera!
I walked in to store to get any camera for vacation in Florida.
I picked this one.... and now the more I use it the more I like it and the more of a "picture taking enthusiast" I become. Thank you NIKON!!!
Really nicely designed stuff (Full of features).

Best Nikon Camera Yet!
I am a huge Nikon person. I have had SLR to point and shoot cameras and love them all. I just got this new Coolpix S9300 and its the best camera from Nikon yet. Its compact and easy to use right out of the box. Camera features are fantastic and the panoramic view and 3d is great. Low lighting and zoom are a plus. I take this camera everywhere fits in my pocket. Bravo Nikon.

GPS....i
Just purchased the 9300 and it is great! Question re: GPS......does it print the location on the photo? If so, have not been able to make it do so. Would definitely recommend this camera.....It's An All In One!!! Only feature that is a little bothersome is the location of the "Flash" but it can work around that. Thanks to all....

Compacted, light weight and fairly good pictures
I had the camera for a two week cruise and the pictures were good. But the camera has been in the shop now going on 3 weeks because the playback button didn't work, and the GPS wasn't working most of the time. In bright light you can not see the image on the monitor. I turned the monitor to full brightness and still could see what I was shooting. So there is a lot of guess and shoot. Thank goodness I wasn't wasting film. The flash is on the left side, and can be in the way while holding the camera. Minor problem, easy to work around it.

Our first upgrade in awhile
We have the coolpix 4600 and it was getting a bit dated. The one major thing I was looking for was a camera that could take pics using the flash more than 1 every 15-20 seconds. This one knocks that out of the park with a photo about 2-3 seconds apart using the flash.
The zoom is amazing, something usually found only in SLR's. A true hybrid with the compactness of a pocket cam with the zoom and features of an SLR.
The battery life is OK, it might be worth it to get a spare. But with all its powering, GPS, and unbelievable display, flash, etc its hard to really be upset with that. A bigger battery would mean bigger camera.
The flash is in an awkward position on the left side where it think most people would tend to have their hand when it tries to pop up. But not really a big deal since you can practically operate this camera with one hand.
The photos themselves are amazing, I've read some reviews on other sites and they tend to get a little to technical for me. I'm not sure why you would want to zoom all the way in on a shadow in the far corner to point out some graininess. Its the stuff in the main focal point that matters and they are crystal clear.

Camera Locks up!
Just got this camera for my fiftith bday from my wife. It has locked up on my five times and will return it for a different brand if Nikon can't explain/fix the problem. After a short period of use taking pictures and changing between selector modes, the text on the screen will disappear then all buttons will disable and then the screen will freeze with the image showing and the lens extended. Can't find a repeatable pattern that will cause this. FW = rev1.1

horrible
I bought this camera and was so excited. Right after the 30 day mark it started randomly freezing on me. The auto focus on this camera takes forever. Just not impressed.

Answer:
In the COOLPIX S9300 you have different flash modes: Auto, Auto with Red-eye reduction, Off, Fill Flash, Slow Sync. No compensation option is available.
The S9100 has a release switch on the side that manually pops up the hidden flash. When it's no longer needed, the flash can be retracted manually by pushing it back down into the camera. The S8200 also has a hidden flash, but it pops up automatically when needed. It can only be retracted by turning off the camera and not by pushing it back down manually. Which method is used by the S9300?

When not in use, does the lens on S9300 completely retract into the body or does it protrude out?
Looking for a camera that will easily fit in the pocket. Is this camera too large for that purpose?
