Awesome Camera This camera rocks just received before our Las Vegas trip and the pictures came out so beautiful and very easy to use. Thumbs up!!!!! Great buy!!!!!!!!!! March 1, 2013
Awesome Camera! If you are looking to purchase a camera this is the one. This camera takes great photos. I went outdoors tonight and took a picture of the moon with Jupiter next to it and was actually able to see the planet. January 22, 2013
AMAZING IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT..... This was a gift from my wife for my b'day and i've fallen in love with my cam, i just cant stop takin snaps. i have taken a few snaps and uploaded it on facebook, i've had 250 likes and counting. the best cam money (under budge) can buy.... January 18, 2013
LOVE THIS CAMERA This was a gift from my husband to help me take better pictures of my handmade jewelry and candles, but it does somuch more!! OMG I take this little red camera out on my hikes throught he nature preserve near my ouse and I have taken some breathtaking photographs.. I am beyond impressed, I am astounded. I took a picture of a roseate spoonbill who wasso far away that it was just a pink bird shape off in the middle distance... the resulting picture makes it seem like it was mere feet away. January 14, 2013
Better then expected. This camera is much better then expected. Of course I would expect nothing less from a Nikon product. I have been using Nikon cameras for over 30 pears and have never been disappointed. January 12, 2013
Amazing Great product for your money. Its worth it,easy to ues,and GREAT photos December 26, 2012
Proof that size doesn't matter... I was given the nikon l810 for my birthday. I find it a great buy, it is affordable and reliable. However, there are some things that were not explained. This camera has its pros and cons. PROS GREAT zoom 26x The auto mode automatically changes settings for easier photo taking Variety of scene selection modes to chose from e.g pet portrait, food Easy to hold, it is comfortable and lightweight Clear images of close ups A zoom button on the side of the camera Great video quality and great general picture quality so far Great choice of ISO levels Auto focus and anti vibration available and can be switched on and off CONS No manual mode, so you cannot change shutter speed or aperture Every time the camera moves, the screen goes blurry and has to refocus, hard to get clear action shots Auto focus takes a long time The lens cap needs to be manually removed, if you turn the camera on with the lens cap still on, you have to turn the camera off, remove the cap and turn the camera on again. Getting clear pictures takes a while, this is my first decent camera and i find it hard to take clear photos, because the camera changes settings automatically, i can't yet control the quality Takes a few seconds after the photo has been taken to be able to view it in gallery You can only view through the screen, no peephole available You cannot attach lenses or flash assisters All in all it is a decent camera, I have just listed the cons for people who are looking at buying one. It has taken lovely shots of close-ups but I for those wanting action shots, the slow focusing does take a while. It is a great camera to have a I heartily recommend it. December 5, 2012
Cant ask for better. I have only had this camera for a few days and its great i took a picture of my cousins truck at around 600 ft or more just messing around with it and you can read the license plat #.Its unbelievable i would recommend this camera to anyone that wants picture's to look like a pro took the photo's. December 2, 2012
Best Camera I have ever owned I am not a big camera guy. Want it for birthdays and vacations. So, I wanted something that was light, could zoom in from a distance and take great pics. This did it all and for a very good price. I have recommended it on Amazon and here as well. Good job, Nikon. November 29, 2012
Splendid Shots So Far !! This cam was gifted by my boy friend for our second year anniversary. A surprise gift !! I was so thrilled & began using that minute. Got the best captures so far, all momentum. Amazing experience. Nikon is Kool !! Attaching the first photo that was captured in this camera. Check out guys. November 28, 2012
Great Quality for a Low Price! THIS CAMERA IS GREAT FOR CASUAL PHOTOGRAPHERS!! This is the first good camera I've ever owned, first Nikon also, and I've just been amazed! The zoom is incredible, and you can get really close up to a flower or another object when you're in the close-up mode. The only thing i wouldn't recommend about this camera is if you're trying to photograph sports. It takes a long time to focus, even though it might come out pretty clear. I definitely recommend this camera though! It's a great price for amazing quality! November 25, 2012
GREAT! The Nikon Coolpix L810 is great for first time users as myself. It offers a variety of scene modes that all great photographers should adopt. The best price range for its category as well :) Happy I made the purchase. November 24, 2012
Best 1 There are no words to spoke about the features of this camera........... amazing............ cam............... October 18, 2012
Everything I was looking for. I think this is a great camera with all I need. I am not a big time camera enthusias. I wanted a camera that is small, convenient and can take a great picture without getting to technical with all the equipment and nobs and buttons to adjust. Just make it happen. Great camera if you want to just click and shoot on the fly. October 9, 2012
MY NIKON L810 i cant believe my eyes because of viewing amazing photos from my l810,its a great manufacturing lead sucsses of nikon, its a compactable camera that use as very user friendly than other cameras, thanks for nikons coolpix series to provide such quality of cameras September 22, 2012
Great Camera For Beginners This camera has been excellent right out of the box. Very impressed with the wide variety of modes and settings. September 16, 2012
Awesome camera! Camera is so easy to use and pictures always come out great! I love how you can set the shooting option according to your setting there are so many choices! I've owned this camera for about 3 months now and enjoying every bit of it! September 15, 2012
Great camera for a small package! I got this camera from sears on sale for $196. The design is soooooo nice, such a big lense for a compact camera. The camera is very easy to use such as, the easy mode, which switches scene modes automatically, but sometimes you have to use other scenes for better picture, has a shortcut video button, and has two zooms ( one on the lense and one like a regular camera ). The camera's shutter ( which is how fast pictures can be taken ) is faster than these reviews say it is. September 7, 2012
Great Camera I love this camera. Nikon has been my camera of choice for several years now because of price and features. I just bought this camera yesterday and used yesterday as well and I love it, the pictures look great and the digital zoom is awesome. I own a nikon pocket size camera as well but wanted something with a loner zoom and found it with this camera. Its not too big for this type of camera and its really light weight compared to others. Another great feature is that it also takes the new eyefi sd cards...keep up the good work Nikon. August 27, 2012
easy to use I love this camera. I have had several cameras over the years. I'm a casual user, family get together s, birthdays, special events. Haven't taken a bad picture yet. easy to use. will recommend to family and friends. Fair price. August 23, 2012
Fantastic for the Price This product is excellent, whether on low budget or not. In fact it's much better than some of the other ones out there on the market including the Canon, Fujfilm, Sony and Olympus. Video feature has amazing autofocus settings. Over 25 picture taking settings for all your needs. Great for making youtube videos, and taking pictures of the most important events. Would reccomend using Class6 or higher SD or SDHC or SDHX card for optimal peformance. All around great and fantastic product. August 16, 2012
SO MUCH FOR SO LESS 720p (HD) camera.HD cameras are usually expensive but this wasnt! So cheap but you get great pictures and movies. July 17, 2012
I recommend this camera! I was replacing a digital camera I had owned for over ten years and after much procrastination purchased this Nikon on an impulse at Target store without research or planning. I am extremely happy with this camera! I have no complaints! This is by far the best purchase of any electronic I have ever made. I love that it uses disposable batteries! The zoom is amazing! With an 8GB memory card, I have yet to run out space even at 8megapixels per shot. My old camera was not advanced enough to shoot in this detail and at this magnification. I am SUPER pleased. Price is way below what this camera should be selling for. I will be buying more of these as Christmas presents for close friends and family. July 15, 2012
Easy learning curve; fabulous pics Bought this camera two days before going on a cruise and had no trouble learning how to use it on flight to ship. The zoom is what I was hoping for; closeups equally clear. Used the auto focus often and was pleased with the results. I played with the settings at various locations - beach, aquarium, bars, nighttime, etc and always got a pic I liked. My purchase criteria was shutter speed, distance landscape shots, flowers, and grandkids - the Nikon delivered on all fronts. The price was reasonable and the camera shop I purchased it at also provides a free class that I intend to take at a later time. An added bonus. July 7, 2012
Wonderful camera! I got the l810 for my dad on fathers day. But he doesn't really use it, so he have it to me. I absolutely love it. The only draw back is that it's slow at focusing. Other then that it is a wonderful camera. I would definitely recommend this camera to a novice or beginner photographer, even a pro. July 5, 2012
Great Camera that takes very good pictures. Have only had the camera for a short time, but so far I think it's a great little camera loaded with many features. I have read nagitive remarks about the slow focus and to a degree that's true, but not near as bad as I had read. I owned the Coolpix S6100 that I gave to my daughter before getting this camera and don'e see very little difference. When I need fast focus like weddings and sporting events I will drag out my DSLR and lug it around. The one thing I really like about staying with Nikon is the features are very close just different mechanics getting to them. I also like the size and feel of the camera. on all the other P&S cameras I have owned, if not for the wrist strap I would have dropped them, not this camera, it has the feel of a DSLR, but about 1/4 the weight. June 21, 2012
great buy We love this camera! Macro pics of flowers and bugs, portraits of birds, moon and clouds, time-lapse of kids/pets, changing the color scheme. Download the pdf for a very thorough "how-to". Yes, you do have to take the lens cap off, but I have forgotten a couple of times and no lens breakage. You get a message that says "take the lens cap off". We've had the camera for a month and have taken hundreds of pics and shot some video. Took a time-lapse of a hummingbird... really cool. Advice: focus on the image you want, take the shot, THEN zoom in while viewing the photo and crop = crystal clear close up. June 20, 2012
Nice Camera This picture takes really nice pictures. I too have an issue with the video, not being able to use the light or pause the video. sometimes when I voom in while using the video it doesn't focus. will have to contact tech support to see what to do about that. Other than that i really like the camera. June 14, 2012
Nikon l810 all da way!!! just bougt it today and my oh my,like i am soooo :))) what a great device for shoting pix n videos...luv it ;) June 7, 2012
Great camera I bought this camera a few weeks ago. I love this camera and have fun using it. It is easy to use and takes great pictures. June 3, 2012

Answer:
sorry, no. in fact, most cameras are not, and those that are are specifically marketed as being "waterproof". i refer you to, for example, the Nikon AW100:

http://www.nikonusa.com/Nikon-Products/Product/Compact-Digital-Cameras/26293/COOLPIX-AW100.html

that one IS waterproof. no question about it.

Although you can set 5 different settings for monitor brightness generally you don't want to go around messing around with your monitor brightness to much. So in reality generally I would answer yes.

No. Nikon does not offer an adapter for this camera. Remember, it already has a 26x zoom lens. Third party vendors offer a tube adapter with a 62mm filter thread, but that appears to be more for filters and shades.
