Great camera for a little price I am a "wanna be" photographer. I didn't want to spend a fortune on a camera but wanted one that had a lot of features and was easy to use. This camera was all that and more. The pictures I took, for the most part, came out great, clear, and in vibrant color. And the panoramic feature is so easy to use. My niece has a $1000.00 camera and said she loved the pictures my camera took. I love them, too. And I love this camera. October 16, 2013
Great camera I bought this camera with some gift cards and I love it! I recently had a baby and this is the perfect camera to capture special moments. I've had many compliments on every photo I've taken. July 25, 2013
Great camera for trips I purchased this camera about a year ago and have taken it on all of our trips. Doing that I am leaving my Nikon D80 and D3 at home. The pictures from the L810 are as good as - if no better - than those other two cameras. I can take pictures much quicker with the Coolpix, and there are times when that is very important. June 2, 2013
Nikon Coolpix-L810 I received my camera this past Christmas. I have always been an avid photo hobbyist. I have uploaded my pictures to my facebook page called What I See in Nature. Here you can see how great this camera does! April 21, 2013
Too good to be true! I recieved this camera from my parents for Christmas. I love it so much!! I really want to become a photographer & this is the perfect camera. I have taken some beautiful photos. I'm really impressed, although I wouldn't expect anything less than amazing from Nikon. March 16, 2013

I purchased the Nikon Coolpix rechargeable batteries with charger that was recommended in the L810 product manual, but when I received it, it says that I cannot use the charger overseas. I purchased this camera to use for a trip to Italy. If I want to use rechargeable batteries, it looks like I'll have to find another charger, but the user guide for the L810 has very restrictive information about the compatible battery types, and I haven't been able to find reliable info anywhere. I don't want to ruin the camera by using the wrong batteries. Please help!

I purchased my camera last night, and am leaving in two days for an air show, and want to take close ups of the Thunderbirds and other jets as they zoom by. Will be on a beach, looking directly up into the sky for the most part....So 'beach mode' or 'auto'? Answer:
This model of Coolpix has pre-set settings. You can use one of the scene modes, in your case will be Sport Mode or try a different settings to see which one will work for the type of photography you’re looking for. Beach won't work for you since what you are looking for is a fast shutter speed.

Answer:
The Coolpix L180 uses AA Size battery (Alkaline, NiMH, Oxyride or Lithium).

The Coolpix L810 flash settings cannot be change when shooting in certain scene modes. Example: Landscape, Sports, sunset, firework show, E.T.C. The camera will not respond when you press the flash button. However, you should have full control over the flash setting when shooting in Auto Mode.
Press the scene button on the Coolpix L810 and there should be four icon listed on the left side of the LCD. Scroll down to Auto Mode and press Ok, or reset the camera back to the manufacturer settings by Pressing the Menu button-->Setup Menu-->Reset All.

Note: If Image Mode shows up when you press the menu button, press the left multi selector (self timer button) until you see the wrench tool highlighted in white, and then scoll down and select it.

If the flash does not work while in Auto Mode, You may need to sent the camera in for service. our contact information can be found at support.nikonusa.com

Answer:
The soft-focus background effect that you are referring to is called 'bokeh' and is created when your photograph has a very shallow depth of field. You can find an informative article about bokeh at the following page on Nikonusa.com: http://www.nikonusa.com/en/Learn-An...

The L810 does not give you the ability to control aperture directly so it is going to be difficult for you to control your depth of field, especially when shooting in bright light. Macro mode will usually give you a bokeh effect but this mode may not work for all the situations in which you might want to achieve bokeh. Other factors that affect bokeh are your lens focal length and your distance to your subject. To decrease your depth of field experiement with zooming your camera to its longest focal legnth (without using digital zoom) and getting closer to your subject. Lowering your ISO (available when shooting in Auto) may also force your camera to open the aperture wide enough to increase bokeh.

My family and I are going to Disney in June and while I love my D3100, Its a little clunky to be carrying around the parks. If not this camera, is there another nikon that would be good for vacation? Thanks!

Answer:
The L810 is a great choice for a vacation camera because it offers 16 Megapixels, a 26X optical zoom and uses AA batteries so you don't have to worry about charging. You may also want to look at the L610 which is also 16MP and AA powered but has a 14x zoom, the ability to record full HD movies and is lighter and more compact than the L810.

Try using the compare tool on this page to compare the L810 with the L610 and any of our other COOLPIX offerings:

Are there antiglare films or covers for L810 monitor. Glare can be a real problem.

Hard to view subject in bright sunlite or indoor bright back lite, Purchased 3 sided pop up monitor cover which gives little relief.
