THE TERRIFIC ONE THERE ARE A LOT OF OPTIONS WHEN YOU WANT TO PURCHASE A CAMARA, BUT THERE IS JUST ONE WHEN YOU ARE FOUND OF A REAL HQ EXPERIENCE. COOLPIX S4100 IS A TERRIFIC OPTION May 21, 2013
Great camera for those on the go! Writing reviews is not my strong suit, but seeing the number of negative comments, I had to state my experience. I purchased this camera for my wife for her birthday and she loves it. All she wanted was something easy to use and small enough to carry anywhere. The Nikon Coolpix S4100 fits the bill. The camera has gone on a cruise and several trips with her. The operation of the camera is simple, picture are great, the touch screen flawless and absolutely zero trouble charging the battery. I know others with the S4100 are their reaction to the camera is the same. August 9, 2012
Great Quality Pictures I also own A Sony Cybershot. My coolpix takes way better pictures andd awesome videos! LOVE IT :o) May 14, 2012
I love this Cam!! I've recently upgraded from a previous version of Coolpix to this one and I love it with all of it's features May 9, 2012
Wow... is all I can say! I just upgraded from another pocket sized camera and this Nikon Coolpix is so amazing! Love the touch screen, the upclose pics I've taken are completely in focus, the recovery time between pics is WAY FAST, the cool purple color is my favorite, and I can't wait to go shoot some HD video! Totally the gold standard of pocket-sized cameras! April 1, 2012

Is it possible to upload .jpg photos created elsewhere (cell phones, etc.) to the SDHC card in the camera so that they can be displayed by the camera on its LCD screen? Attempts to copy such photos to the various folders on the camera SDHC card result in either inability to access them or produce an error message.

Answer:
I don't own the camera and haven't tried it but my guess is that this is probably down to the shutter speed and ISO, that you are shooting at. If you are shooting in low light situations or have your camera scene mode set to something with a slower shutter speed (night time, etc) then you will have blurry photo, as the camera will try to get the ideal amount of light to get the photo. As you don't seem to be having this problem with your Canon, I doubt it is down to your movement. I would play with the settings and see what difference they make, try a slightly faster scene mode to shoot with and see if this improves the photo (this might effect the amount of light in the photo though, so be careful doing this).

Answer:
Most of the time the shooting delay is caused by focusing. Press the button half way down (and hold it in) and let the camera pre-focus; when the subject is perfect press the button the rest of the way to shoot. With a bit of practice it is easy to get the perfect photo.

Answer:
Night time videos are difficult to do, since most light sources at night are pin points to the camera lens, and these will create flare. A rule of thumb: it's it's too dark to see colors it's probably too dark to shoot a video. You may want to think still photos instead with high a high ASA rating >1600 and using a tripod. Sometimes motioned blurred objects can be called art.

I can not turn on the camera or charge it. Is there a way to reset it by hardware button combination?

Answer:
Try charging the camera through the computer or via wall plug. Also, try a backup battery. If the problem persists you will need to send the camera and the charger to be evaluated.
