Love it! I'm a photographer and own a range of cameras; however, this one is the best for the money. The only thing I would change is there is no 'rapid shoot' option. It takes amazing photos and is very easy to use. Below is a photo I took with the camera, from probably 20+ feet away. Those who say it doesn't focus well apparently are doing something very wrong! July 15, 2012
Easy to use and just perfect! I use my Nikon L120 mostly for filming videos, usually when I play guitar. I must say it makes a really good sound and picture. It really makes good pictures, I really like to take pictures of my dog and flowers with bees. It's easy to use and it makes stunning photos. :) July 14, 2012
Amazing Camera! Way worth the money. I absolutely love this camera. It takes great clear pictures. The effects that it offers are amazing! June 14, 2012
Best nikon point and shoot AWESOME CAMERA. The bast camera ever I recommend it to everybody over the age of 10. Great quality pics, High ISO, HD movie. A lot in one small camera June 12, 2012
"OUTSTANDING" in every way !!! The Nikon L120 is easy to use, fun to use and the picture quality is awesome. I have digital cameras of different brands that cost twice as much as this Nikon L120 and they are no match in picture quality. The macro is fantastic. This camera takes the common double A battery that can be found anywhere and they seem to last almost forever...over 900 shots with rechargable Ni-MH batteries. For all it's great features, and it's fantastic picture quality, no other brand can match it in it's price range. The Nikon L120 is my favorite digital camera of all time. May 31, 2012

Does Nikon ever plan to release a firmware update that will enable you to manually adjust shutter speed for the L120?

I recently purchased a L120, but to my dismay I realized it has a major flaw- no adjustable shutter speed. I've seen less expensive cameras (Nikons included) that have this option, the P500 also enables you to adjust this setting. I simply can't understand why it would be neglected in the L120.

In retrospect I suppose it was my own fault for assuming it would have such a handy function. Aside from that detail I am extremely satisfied, though. I'd just really hate to have to return the camera, as I generally prefer Nikons to Cannons.

Would it be possible to release a firmware update to remedy this shortcoming? If so, does Nikon have any plans of doing it?

Answer:
Our COOLPIX models are divided in 3 series LIFE, STYLE and PERFORMANCE. LIFE models are basic Point and shot supported by scene modes with pre-settings for different types of shooting situations. If you need a point and shoot camera with manual control of the settings then you will need one from our PERFORMANCE series (like the P500).

Answer:
I presume that it is your shutter speed is probably to slow, for the camera to be used handheld. The camera slows the shutter speed to allow enough light in to get the image, because it is dark there is less light, so the camera has to expose for longer. If you are shooting hand held, you will constantly be moving and there for the image will blur. There are ways that you can try and improve the photo. Change the ISO, use flash (though this isn't always the best option), change the way you hold and support the camera (surprisingly this does make a difference), use a tripod, etc.

the L120 is very similar to the L100 in the fact that the L120 is a newer version of it, and the L120 also has 21x zoom, where the L100 only has 15x, so the L120 i would reccomend, because that is the product i own.

Answer:
I would suggest, that you have too slow a shutter speed. You camera is probably compensating for the lack of light and is slowing down the shutter speed. Another factor is how much you are zooming, the longer the focal length the faster you have to have the shutter speed. I would suggest, you put the ISO up higher when shooting at night. use a tripod, monopod or have something to support or rest the camera on. Hold the camera better, don't stick your arms out when taking a photo. Try different modes like night mode etc. Flash, this sounds the most obvious but generally with on board flashes the lighting is generally quite harsh, so be careful, You can help by putting a white piece of paper, tracing paper or baking paper front of the flash, that should defuse the light slightly. Shoot, with a much light as you can.

Nikon COOLPIX L120 Review

by Mike Flacy
August 2011

Mike Flacy posted his review of the Nikon COOLPIX L120 on the Steve’s Digicams’ website, noting its versatility, large zoom range and rich feature set. Flacy said the L120 offers “a plethora of selectable Scene Modes.” He noted that the L120 is built well, with well designed controls that are easily accessible, and simple enough for anyone to use. He added that the video mode “is a breeze to use.” Flacy concluded by saying “The Nikon COOLPIX L120 is a very appealing compact super-zoom,” adding, “I think you’ll enjoy the photos it produces.”
