userfriendly, great for begginers I got my coolpix l120 for christmas and I love it so much. I bring it everywhere esspecially since i live in DC i can take pictures of the monuments a lot which is great. My friends bring their cameras and we have photoshoots which are so fun and the pictures i take ussually come out great (unless i have a shaky hand when not using the tripod) January 20, 2014
Excellent result... NICE HANDY.. USER FRENDLY... EXCELLENT PHOTO SHOOTING. April 20, 2013
Excellent camera for the intermediate photograher Always wanted to upgrade to a Nikon built camera to improve on the quality of my pictures. The shots of the moon in various stages and the my two dogs playing on the deck came out excellent. My indoor pictures and the sunrise ones really added to my enjoyment. I tried many of the settings and was pleased with the results. January 26, 2013
great camera I love this camera but you have to read the directions, takes great pictures close up and far away January 14, 2013
Better than DSLR! I feel like a pro with all the pictures I have taken with Nikon Coolpix L120. The camera takes excellent pictures. I have enjoyed using some of the in-camera effects especially the pet picture effect for my dog. October 12, 2012

I've had my Coolpix for less than a week, have used it a few times, mostly just getting familiar with the camera. So far so good, happy with how it works, photos, etc. The last time I went to use it, the light on the on/off button came on, and stayed on, but the camera didn't turn on (no chime, screen didn't come on, and the lens didn't extend). I tried pulling and resetting the batteries (indicator showed full) and had same behavior, so I tried fresh batteries as well. Same thing. Although the camera remains off, the only way to get the on/off light to go out is to pull the batteries and reseat them (pressing on/off button does nothing). Once it's off, and the on/off button is pressed again, the cycle starts again.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

My wife is currently using this camera at a conference. She just called and said the zoom swtich (near the shutter button) is stuck and will not move. She can still zoom with the side zoom feature. Does this camera have a zoom lock that could have gotten hit accidentally, or does this sound like a defect? Any suggestions?

When starting a video, the auto focus doesn't work I think. Because the video is a little fuzzy. BUT if I start zooming it regains focus. As if autofocus doesn't kick in from the start and zooming helps it work.
Is this something that will be fixed in a future firmware? Or is there any setting that would help this go away?

I turned the camera on with the lens cap at it wouldn't come on. I pressed the power button and then removed the lens cap, then turned the camera back on. Now, i get a message in red letters that says to turn off the camera, remove the lens cap and turn it back on even though i have the lens cap in my hand. What's worse is that the zoom is tuck and won't go back in and the camera is making this awful buzzing sound. How do i fix this?

Answer:
Try NOT using built-in flash and substituting with an alternative light source. Also, you might try avoiding "head-on" shots and taking pictures at a slight angle....that should also help in bringing out details. We used this method in crime scene shots (e.g., shoe prints and tire tread impressions) when I was still young enough to do that sort of thing. Also, take at least four pictures, one from each corner of room at widest mm angle so you can have an overall picture(s) of entire area. If you use alternative light source, be sure to vary its angle to subject also.
Hope this helps!

I love my new Coolpix L120, but am confused about why the flash does not work in the EASY AUTO MODE. If I switch to the AUTO MODE, the flash works fine. Is the EASY MODE only for use in daylight?

Answer:
In Easy Auto mode when the flash is lowered, the flash setting is fixed to off and is displayed at the top of the monitor. In situations where flash is needed, such as in dark locations or when the subject is backlit, be sure to raise the flash by hand.

My previous question was not properly understood. With the camera set to EASY AUTO MODE and the flash raised, it never fires in dark situations. If I change the setting to AUTO MODE, the flash works perfectly. Is the EASY AUTO MODE on the L120 only to be used in daylight, or is my camera malfunctioning since the flash will not fire.
