I asked the previous question, but your answer did not answer my specific problem. The grinding noise is happening when the shutter button is pushed halfway down (for focusing). This is a different noise then when zooming in / zooming out. This is when I am focusing about to take the photo - there is an irregular gravelly sound coming from the camera. Is this a faulty camera, or is this some function going on inside the camera?

some people are blurred in the picture. Pictures are not sharp. Most pictures are thus useless.
Resolution is 3000 x 4000, with jpg as the image format. manually set ISO to 400, the others are automatic, no flash. No tripod, same result with the vibration reduction set to "On" or "On (hybrid)".
