COOLPIX S80 3.3 5 83 83
Very nice compact I replaced a Sony 8MP camera with touchscreen I've had for several years, and this new one is a big improvement. The pics are noticeably better, it's lighter and the touchscreen is more responsive. Overall I am very happy. July 10, 2011
Product is better than I expected! My name is Tad and I am 14 years old and for my Birthday (May 16) my mom got my this camera and it has terrific quality and I really have gotten the hang of the camera, only thing that is disadvantage for me is the stabilization. I seem to have a slight problem with that but maybe I just don't have the camera set at the right settings but the camera has great scene modes and even though you can't control the "Dept Of Field" with this camera I find tricks to control it like standing far away and zooming in. It is light weight and very slim and love the touch screen. Also my friends at school are very jealous of my camera and wish that they would have gone with Nikon. July 6, 2011
compact and easy to use the compact size, large 3" viewer, and ease of the on screen functions makes this a neat camera. With the 14+ megapixels you get crisp sharp picture! My wife & I are very satisfied. Nice going. June 1, 2011
awesome pics and screen display the nikon s80 is an awesome camera. I love the fact that the screen has a clean and crisp picture. the screen is brighter. It is easy to handle and is lite weight. this is just an overall awesome camera June 1, 2011
Great Camera For a great camera that fits in your shirt pocket this is it. Takes great pictures and is very functional. This camera has a large display with a touch screen. I was a little concerned about my fingers causing the touch screen to do things when not wanted; however, that has not been a problem. May 21, 2011
coolpix s80 i have a coolpix s7 and this S80 is much more easier to look and shoot pictures. plus its touch and play not bad....very happy. May 5, 2011
The best quick shot camera have ever bought. The touch screen is very responsive. The picture quality is amazing. The flash is the best i have ever seen on a small camera. April 16, 2011
I like this camera, as it is small, thin and have all features ready to be used and the manual give you a good idea what you can do with this camera April 15, 2011
Excellent Product I got my Nikon Coolpix S80 fairly recently. So far, I have not experienced any downside to the camera. I love the compact size. It takes clear pictures, even from a moving car. This camera has many nice features, especially considering it's size. All in all, it's a great camera! April 14, 2011
wonderful little pocket/purse camera: video & stil The S80 is perfectly sized for a pocket or a purse, and yieldsbgood images in all light settings. The settings are really simple, and the touch screen interface pretty user-friendly. Video quality at the HD setting is very good in daylight, and acceptable indoors. Ivebusedbit to record a variety show on stage. The light varied a lot, but the camera was able to handle it. Video recordings are limired to 30 seconds at a time, but since the HD file sizes are about FB for every 30 min, it's peobablybfor the best. The video records while you zoom in and out, and the noise is minimal. Stereo microphones do end excellent job of maintaining the ambience. I've recorded for 40 min, with about 30 photos before the low battery light came on, which is quite good by my limited experience with pocket cameras. Output video is pretty good using the supplied video cable, but for best effect, get a HDMI-miniHDMI cable. The still camera controls are very simple. If you love twiddling with settings, this is nor the camera for you. Leave it on auto, and it does a food job of recognizing situations, and changes settings appropriately. Color balance is great, and the auto focus is pretty accurate. In darker conditions, a focus assist lamp comes on to help the camera focus. Flash is acceptable for a camera this size. I love the picture quality and Tue handling. Most compact cameras do a great job for family pics, and you should primarily be looking at the ease of handling and convenience, rather than trying tobcheck out pictures at maximum magnification. We've all got terrific results with 3 and 5 megapixel cameras just a few years ago. Rhis camera's image size and quality is way beyond what is usually required. Go for the camera you will actually use the most. My wife always has it in her purse, and it's become our go to tool for daily use, and the SLR can now be used when it is really needed: on a job! Bought from Costco; used for 6 weeks. April 14, 2011
excellent camera This camera is what i thought it would be. Real good detail when i can hold it still, but do pretty good most of the time. The ease of use is nice. i like the touch screen the best. I would rceommend this camera to anyone . April 14, 2011
My red coolpix. I love this camera so , Nikon is amazing . One problem I go to slide it so it can go off and it wont turn off anymore . In order for it to turn off I have to now take the battery out -_- .. other than that , I love Nikon. March 31, 2011
I love the camera I'm just getting all the literature on the camera and learning all the features. Lovin' it. March 9, 2011
Great Camera! I've had this camera for a couple of weeks and it has been working great! I have two other Nikons and love them! One is a 35mm SLR N80 and the other is a DSLR D60. Hoping to pickup a D7000 soon! ;) On the S80 I have had no problems. The response time on the touch screen is sometimes a little delayed but no big deal. Those of you that are having issues I would suggest going through the user manual. The one person that complained about the position the SD card is put in... there is a diagram right next to the slot. You may need some glasses. February 13, 2011
This camera is packed with big camera functions I received this as a gift not expecting it had the functions within to do a decent job but I got the surprise when I downloaded the manual! Lots if similar 'Nikon' items which is good the sensor does a fine job and the small lens performs much better than I expected. I have photos that others cannot tell were not taken with my DLSRs. I can pack this to places where I cannot with my larger systems. Three drawbacks are the placement of the shutter release. It makes holding the camera difficult, the second is the on screen shutter release that can’t be turned off permanently. It gets in the way too often and takes photos when you don’t want them. The last item is not having a remote wireless shutter. February 5, 2011
AS A QUICK CAMERA EXCELLENT IT IS, AND AS A BACK UP FOR D90, AGAIN EXCELLENT IT IS! February 3, 2011
Love the touch feature I have not printed any pics yet but I do love the touch screen and user friendly menu. February 3, 2011
Love This Camera I'm still learning how to use this product cause it does so much but I just love it! I love all its features. This camera does so much! February 2, 2011
amazing it is so useful I love this camera!!!!! the only thing is it needs to be easier to change things like the iso setting, i can't figure it out! I is a good camera just play with it and trust me you will love it. i needed it for a class and even my teacher now wants one! January 24, 2011
Well designed Camera I bought this camera for my wife who is electronics challenged. I like that the default settings are all the auto settings that she would use. She wants to take grandchildren pictures and have a ready and available camera. For those who complain about the manual, it comes with a complete manual on CD or downloaded from the web. The manual contains clear images of the screen for each function. You can print the pages you want for quick reference. The picture quality is excellent and with a 16gb SD card (get the class 10 card for faster recording and picture taking) she can shoot for a week at maximum resolution and never run out of storage. In my research and experience I have gained a huge respect for Nikon and believe this is an excellent value camera. January 24, 2011
Versatile This is my first compact digital camera and am very impressed with the picture quality. Captures all details of the subject, whether people or nature. In camera editing as well as touch screen controls at the fingertip make it very user friendly. Just a little nervous about the slider on/off switch, about its durability. Hope it weathers our heavy use! December 28, 2010
great new cam last year i got the prior model which i really enjoyed . so today i got this newer model and i love it . it works great and makes no funny noise. for anybody who had problems with , maybe a user problem this is a Nikon camera not a disposable from walmart. read the manual and play with it so you get to know it first. December 26, 2010
Great for a small, inexpensive camera I am not a camera expert. I purchased the camera last minute for a trip to Hawaii. I found it easy to use and took nice pics. I hate wading through manuals, so my son took a look at the camera and quickly and easily figured out the features and relayed the info to me. I consider it easy to use, a reasonable price and took very nice snapshots. November 12, 2010
very nice indeed cool! this is one of the coolest camera i ever use. love it indeed!! October 31, 2010
I really like it Great product. I wanted something small for my husband to take hunting and pack in his backpack along with something that I was able to place in a small purse for family outings. What a great size. I also like that I am able to open and shut it without a seperate lens cover. I have had trouble with shutters and small grains of sand in the past and this camera seems to be holding up to the busy family test. Con: it does not have much room to grasp it without sending the touch screen into a small tizzy or placing my finger in front of the lens. August 6, 2011
Coolpix SAMAZING I REALLY LIKE MY COOLPIX S80. The pictures are great for a digital camera. I mean of course it's not as great as a fancy Nikon camera, but it's really a good digital camera. Yeah the screen is fragile and if you drop it, it's probably done for, but that's almost with any camera that you have that problem. I really am happy with this camera, if you are looking for a good camera that takes good pictures and is fun, this is the camera for you:) June 28, 2011
great features l Love my Nikon S80 only had it about a month and still studying manual, lots to learn. At first i thought it was to complicated for a 68yr old lady but its fun learning all the new features,it goes every where with me. takes beautifull pitures of flowers and out door scenery have'nt got indoor figured out so well but I know I will. May 29, 2011
The camera is over all good. I like the camera but I do not like the lense right where my fingers are when taking a picture. April 28, 2011
Great product, excellent customer service. I love this camera, so far. Easy, intuitive to use, great clear pictures, but right now it is out for service. The screen (monitor) went dark & would not display pictures. When I called customer service, they were polite & very responsive..... took my info over the phone, sent me an e-mail with directions to return the S80 for service. It's at Nikon in El Segundo now, and I hope to have it back in a few days, good as new. If all works out well, I'll still love this camera! April 20, 2011
Fits in pocket - great size The only problem I have with the S80 is my left finger gets in the way of the lense. I've taken many pictures with my fingertip in it. Thank goodness for cropping. April 20, 2011

Answer:
You can't. It has no options for manual control. Simplicity of use is the signature of such cameras, for better or worse

Every once in a while, I will turn the camera on and it doesnt have any text display on the screen, even when i touch the screen nothing appears. I can take photos, but the camera doesnt focus and just takes really blurry photos. I turn off the camera and just wait a few days and it seems to go back to normal, but then a few days later it will do the same thing. Any suggestions?? Its BRAND NEW camera and started doing this within a couple days of purchasing it.

Answer:
I would go get it fixed by anyone in your area that fixes camera, but it might not be worth it, you might be better off getting a new camera. Next time get a protective screen cover, that will help a bit, but just don't drop it haha.

Answer:
Shooting video with a flash is a bit strange surely a constant light source would be better! To answer your question point the light source where you want the light to hit and then once ready press record!

Certain computers allow me to import the photos, but others don't. I have been using this computer and camera together for 6 months and suddenly it does not allow me to import photos. It says the .jpg files are corrupted or unrecognizable. My computer is a MacBook pro. I took it to the Apple store to see if the software was the problem, but it was not - it happened to their computer as well. I have upgraded to iPhoto '11 and that did not fix the problem. Please help, thanks!
