The best!
The Nikon Coolpix P100 is a great camera. I sought the zoom capabilities and ease of using the auto pre-set modes and manual modes. I have shot 7000 photos in the past year since purchase utilizing every setting imaginable. I love this camera for a point and shoot. I entered 8 photos in the local fair this year and took 3 first place and 1 third place ribbon. I am hooked on Nikon and will be purchasing a D7000 or D5100 this next spring!

Great Camera!
This is a great, camera i would recommend this as a "first camera" for anyone who is an aspiring photographer.
I am an avid photographer, though i am just starting out under aprenticeship of my mother, i say that choosing this camera to get started was one of the best decisions i have made as a photographer.
The camera has great quality and great features including the 26x zoom, and the manual mode is great, which is where my camera stays set most of the time. although the manual mode is wonderful, i wish the camera had two scroll wheels, each separate for aperture and shutter speed, but all is well.
Team Nikon forever!

The best camera for the Serous Amateur.
I did a thorough survey on the web about similar cameras in the same price range. I found that the Coolpix P100 had the features that I wanted, a great zoom (26x), the sports pic function does amazing feats with moving objects; also the time interval between photos was 1st class and so was power up time.
I have been playing with the camera for some weeks now, and it does amazing things. For starters, the camera comes loaded with neat features. Low light photo has always been a problem area for all cameras, some introduce more noise than others, I found that the P100 CMOS sensitivity was the best when compared to other cameras in the same price brackets, I’ve tested it and found that night time photos are stunning. The only flaw that I see is that the autofocus sensor sometimes has a hard time when you zoon in to objects that are anyway to close, but you can overcome this with the macro function, so you can take the photo anyway.
I love the sports mode, my dog can’t be still for a second, the sports mode takes care of that in an amazing way, the photos are just brilliant.
There are cameras out there that do more, but also cost more, in the end I don’t like expensive things just because they are expensive, if you are an amateur, but serious about photography then Functionality vs Price is the key… and the Coolpix P100 delivers great Value!

I try to record videos with myself talking and it comes out all echo-ish. I've tried playing around with all the modes but it still sounds strange. It is not the room I am in.

We currently don’t manufacture any remotes for the COOLPIX P100.
Hello, I just got the coolpix P100 camera but I've noticed it saves videos as a MOV file. I was wondering if there is a way to save the videos as a WMV file or if there is a free converter that you recommend?
Thank you,
Michael

The camera goes brings shutter speed down to 1/30 in auto when it believes that there is not enough light, so it sets the shutter speed and aperture appropriate to the conditions. Also the photo will be effected by how much you zoom as this will effect the aperture. So if you have the camera fully zoomed the aperture will have to be higher and the shutter speed has to be lower. Another thing that might make a difference is the way you hold the camera, I am always telling people to hold their camera differently, so that there is less movement and more chance of getting the shot, of course this is effected by the focal length. For DSLRs, the rule of thumb is that you should shoot no slower than the focal length that you are at (converted to 35mm). So if you were shooting at 200mm you would have your shutter speed at 1/200 or faster. This rule can be broken, I break it all the time, but is handy. With bridge camera like yours, the rule is sound, it is just harder to work out the focal length to shutter speed.
So i have this camera and also an HDMI LCD. How do i connect my camera to it. I already try trough the usb spot but it doesnt work.

I have tried reseting the file numbering from the menu (reset file numbering) and I have tried formating the SD card. Neither had changed the numbering from its current count of 779. I know I am resetting the count properly but to no avail. The camera is running firmware version Coolpix P100 1.1.

I'm desperate for a remote "clicker" for my P100 so I can remove the "shake"
It never fails! No matter how gentle I am touching the button I get "shake" every time, tri-pod is no better than hand held. HELP! Is there any hope for a remote "clicker" (not sure what the term is for this item) in the future?

The COOLPIX P100 is not compatible with any of ours remote releases. You may want to try using the self-timer feature in the camera. Please see page# 37 of the user's manual of the COOLPIX P100 regarding self-timer.
All it says is this card cannot be used. What is the size limit if I wanted more storage? Thanks so much!
