The best!
The Nikon Coolpix P100 is a great camera. I sought the zoom capabilities and ease of using the auto pre-set modes and manual modes. I have shot 7000 photos in the past year since purchase utilizing every setting imaginable. I love this camera for a point and shoot. I entered 8 photos in the local fair this year and took 3 first place and 1 third place ribbon. I am hooked on Nikon and will be purchasing a D7000 or D5100 this next spring!

Great Camera!
This is a great, camera i would recommend this as a "first camera" for anyone who is an aspiring photographer.
I am an avid photographer, though i am just starting out under aprenticeship of my mother, i say that choosing this camera to get started was one of the best decisions i have made as a photographer.
The camera has great quality and great features including the 26x zoom, and the manual mode is great, which is where my camera stays set most of the time. although the manual mode is wonderful, i wish the camera had two scroll wheels, each separate for aperture and shutter speed, but all is well.
Team Nikon forever!

The best camera for the Serous Amateur.
I did a thorough survey on the web about similar cameras in the same price range. I found that the Coolpix P100 had the features that I wanted, a great zoom (26x), the sports pic function does amazing feats with moving objects; also the time interval between photos was 1st class and so was power up time.
I have been playing with the camera for some weeks now, and it does amazing things. For starters, the camera comes loaded with neat features. Low light photo has always been a problem area for all cameras, some introduce more noise than others, I found that the P100 CMOS sensitivity was the best when compared to other cameras in the same price brackets, I’ve tested it and found that night time photos are stunning. The only flaw that I see is that the autofocus sensor sometimes has a hard time when you zoon in to objects that are anyway to close, but you can overcome this with the macro function, so you can take the photo anyway.
I love the sports mode, my dog can’t be still for a second, the sports mode takes care of that in an amazing way, the photos are just brilliant.
There are cameras out there that do more, but also cost more, in the end I don’t like expensive things just because they are expensive, if you are an amateur, but serious about photography then Functionality vs Price is the key… and the Coolpix P100 delivers great Value!

Take out the memory card and take a picture using the internal memory of the camera and replaced the batteries.
All of a sudden yesterday my camera stopped taking pictures. I saw that someone else had a problem and was told to take the memory card out and try to take a picture using the internal memory. I tried that and still did not work. Anymore suggestions.

I am debating between getting a Nikon P500 or Nikon P500 and have two questions:
1) There seem to be a lot of battery related problem feedback on the P500. If so many people had problems, I guess there is some issue. Can you share advice on whether one should avoid the P500 because of this? Also, does the P100 have a similar issue?
2) As far as I can make out, the only significant difference between the P500 and P100 is the zoom. The other differences I can see are:
i) sensor MPs (12 v. 10),
ii) aperture
iii) additional zoom control on lens barrell
iv) additional button on top panel for burst mode
v) Monitor resolution (920k v. 460k dots)
Is there any difference other than the above between the two models? If one doesn't care about the additional zoom, is the P100 actually a better camera?

Hello,
When i switch the Camera to User Setting mode, and i snap a picture. The camera Automatically goes into standby mode, i have to press the shutter release again to get it up. this doesnt happen with other modes. I guess its something with the firmware or so. Is that normal ?

I like the Coolpix P100 which I purchased when the product was launched but in a way I regret purchasing it since other models can use filters for special effects. I have used the camera for only two recent trips otherwise it's still new. I also see the newer version P500 that came out, maybe I should have waited?

Hi Gary, press your menu button and your first option should be the delete key. Click on the "ok" button and it should give you the option of either "selected" or "all". Press your arrow key to select all and your good to go. Or the easy way would be to format your sd card and this will erase all of your pictures. Hope this helps.Aug 14, 2011 by

i received my nikon coolpix p100 for christmas last december. for the first few months, the camera worked very well, taking crystal clear shots. the longer i had it, the blurrier my shots got, and the poorer the quality. it's had me frustrated, but that's the least of my worries now. my camera won't charge anymore. i'm not sure if it's the battery of the inside of the camera or the cord. it lost all of it's charge and won't charge on the wall adapter or when it's connected to a computer. i no longer have the receipt because i wasn't expecting problems this far down the road with it, but i would really like my camera to be fixed considering i paid such a large price for it.
