decent little camera I like this camera, the small, compact size is a definite plus. It slides easily into a pocket. I am not, however used to Nikon or a point and shoot camera as I normally use a large DSLR. It did have more of a learning curve than I expected. It takes pretty nice shots overall, and I know as I use it more, I will like it more. So far, so good. July 20, 2010
It's a nice small camera with one major drawback. I have taken great pictures with and without flash but I am constantly frustrated by the slow time to write to the card. I have missed several good pictures waiting for it to complete its task. It's really small, fits anywhere and durable. July 20, 2010
this camera is very east to learn to use I recently returned from a three week trip to Japan and took over 560 pictures. I am very pleased with the working of the camera and have learned a lot about picture taking. I only had the camera 2 weeks before I left so I have no complaints. July 20, 2010
great product I've seen other pics from other products for about the same price I paid for my Nikon. My pics are far superior.Your product helped me document my vacation of a lifetime.I've compaired my pics with co-workers vacation pics.Their's are snap shots, mine are postcards, every one. Thanks a load.Michael July 20, 2010
I like this camera a lot Even though i don't like how you have to zoom on the camera, it is pretty similar to my old camera that i gave to my parents, because their old camera is junk. July 20, 2010
very good I think the camera is very good and takes good pictures. My problem is that it comes with no manual I know it has one on the cd but I do much better to have a copy in my hand to read July 20, 2010
This product is easy to use. I use the camera to snap photos of myself and personalities that come to my local hangout. I share these photos with my friends and family. I also enjoy taking pictures of unique or odd situations. July 20, 2010
a nice small camera. The s 3000 is a big improvement over it,s predisessor. I like a small easy to carry camera. Glad I bought it. I carry it all the time. Good job. July 20, 2010
This product has great features Excellent product. Easy to use. Great travel and family photos July 20, 2010
I really like this camera a lot. I am still getting use to using it, but I what I have learned from the user's guide has helped. This is also my second camera and I love it more than the other one I had. July 20, 2010
I LOVE this camera!!! This camera is awesome!! it takes clear pictures!! it was worth all the money!! July 20, 2010
Good enough for the money Hi, This is my first Nikon... I didn't really know what to expect when I got this, other than for a relatively inexpensive point and shoot, I figured with a name like Nikon it had to be good... Well, it is good, for the money. Personally I would say if all you want is a point and shoot to share photos online with friends, this is a fine one to consider, I like it... However, if you plan on taking pictures that you want to frame, perhaps larger format than 8x10, even though the resolution is fine on this one, I am not impressed by the lenses, so I would then suggest stepping up your game and buying something more in the DSLR range. July 20, 2010
Perfect Fit! I got my Nikon Coolpix S3000 at Costco this summer one day before my family reunion. The reunion was at the beach so after reading the whole manual I got to play around with the settings. It's a great little camera with lots of cool new details that I find everyday. It is perfect for timed shots and I love the smiling setting!!! You don't even have to press a button! Once it recognizes a face that is smiling it automatically takes the picture. I would recommend this camera for beginners and people who aren't looking for a giant camera. July 20, 2010
This camera works great and is easy to use. The only thing I notice is the zoom is a little too fast. My old nikon coolpix 775 had a slower zoom so you could control it better. Other than that I like the location of the controls and they are easy to use. July 20, 2010
Good So FAR The pictures are very clear, easy to focus and download pictures. July 20, 2010
Great Camera for the price Does easily what much more expensive cameras do. Simple and powerful. Great value great quality and ease of handling. July 20, 2010
Do not buy This camera is a huge disappointment. It broke within a month of buying it. The lens froze in place and we had to send it back for repair. I was extremely disappointed in the lack of quality in this product. July 20, 2010
I haven't had much luck taking good pictures yet. It just may be my settings. I also am unhappy with the fact that when I download from the SD card it downloads an additional file for each photo that my antivirus software calls a virus -EXPL_MS04-028.A. What a pain! July 20, 2010
Great Camera This camera was purchased for our 14 year old daughter. She takes it everywhere and uses it everyday. She uses the timer function often. It takes beautiful clear pictures and is easy to download. She had a problem with the USB plug which appeared to have gotten lodged into the camera. Nikon Customer service was great. It was still under warranty, we sent it in and Nikon is reveiwing it even as I write. Not sure at this point if it will be fixed or replaced. Will definately purchase a Nikon again! July 20, 2010
Great little camera! Love the compact size, easy to use features. The display on the back is a good size. Still am learning about all of the features in the camera. July 20, 2010
I LOVE my new camera. I have had it for over a month now and have nothing but great things to say about it. It was super easy to figure out all the settings. I used the fireworks setting this fourth of July and it took excellent pictures. I have also enjoyed the fact that you can crop pictures and adjust the color right from your camera. Love love love my camera July 20, 2010
The camera took great pictures and very practical The camera took great pictures and the size is practical, however, after two months the camera just stopped working. July 20, 2010
size, fit right in my purse, The camera fit in my purse. The photos look great. The battery keeps it's charge. I really love to be able to grab it at the most unexpected times and use it to get a great shot. July 20, 2010
Great product, would purchase again. This is absolutly the best camera in its class on the market. I love it. July 20, 2010
The product has great features and is very easy to use. I love the color. July 20, 2010
"Mama, don't take my Nikon away" I LOVE my Nikon. It takes crisp pix rather quickly.. The HD Videos are a real PLUS when I take vids of my grandkids and pets. I take pix of them as well as scenery, abstract things. It only has 4x zoom but it's fantastic at taking pix at night or in low light. It charges rather quickl too. I take it with me when we go camping or for a drive, The Fireworks scene is awesome. I used it 4th of July and was NOT disappointed like with previous cameras. The size is perfect. It's not big and bulky...fits into my purse and my back pocket. I have an 8 gb card which lets me take more pix and vids. The Nikon S3000 is a good buy for a starter camera as well as a primary camera. I'm an avid photographer and I use this one for everything. Uploading my pix and vids to my pc is snap. I love being able to see my pixs <slideshow> AND vids on our tv. Just hook the cable to the camera and the tv...and you're good to go! I've had a lot of cameras, including 2 SLR's, I've had high end and low end cameras. In essence--a 4G's rating: Great pix, great vids, great price, great camera! My Nikon S3000 goes everywhere with me, I'm lost without it!! July 20, 2010
THRILLED~!~~ I am very happy with our new nikon that we purchased. The photos are the best ever that we have taken with any camera. July 20, 2010
excellant for the auto stuff this camera is good.... only drawback for me was sports mode ya gotta play wid it first to gets da hang of it , but den its cool...... July 20, 2010
Very good quality camera I am very happy with my Nikon purchase. The screen is a nice size and the camera in general is very compact. The quality of pictures are WONDERFUL...I highly recommend this camera for someone like myself that enjoys taking pictures for memories...Family/Friends and vacation purposes. July 20, 2010
Great pictures. Reliability uncertain. Great photos. Camera did stop working after 40 days and I sent back for warranty repair so I am uncertain about long term reliability. July 20, 2010

I bought a Coolpix S3000 today and see on the box the system requirements for a Mac are OS X 10.4.11, 10.5.8 and 10.6.x. I have a new Mac Book Pro with OS X 10.6.7. Will I be able to load photos from this camera onto my mac?

Answer:
I've had that a lot too! what I found out is you kind of....mess around with the charger, the battery, and the outlet. Like, unplug it, take the battery out,, plug it back in, unplug the little box-thing (that holds the battery) from the cord that goes into the outlet, etc. Just keep messing with it until it is blinking normally.
Good Luck!

Answer:
If the light is flickering (not blinking slowly) it means that the ambient temperature is not suited to charging or the USB cable or Charging AC Adapter is not properly connected, or there's a problem with the battery. Disconnect the USB cable or unplug the Charging AC Adapter and correctly connect it again, or charge the battery.

Answer:
First, make sure you are charging by plugging your USB into a converter in the wall rather than using your computer.

Second, this camera/battery combination has a known error that needs to be fixed. When the Rechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL10 was inserted in the camera and charged, charging sometimes did not stop after the designated amount of time had passed. The firmware needs to be updated by downloading to your computer, installing on your camera, and replacing your battery. See http://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/16873

Please verify that that you have the correct option selected for the Charge by computer, MENU > SETUP MENU > Charge by Computer. Also, try it with a different USB cable or a backup battery. If the problem persists you will need to send the camera and the charger to be evaluated.

I have the coolpix s3000. I've had it for a year and only used it a few times. I first started noticing problems when a fully charged battery said "Battery exhausted" and wouldnt charge at all. I then bought a new battery, and now my camera will not come on AT ALL. It seems the lens MAY be stuck,or it may actually be a battery problem. I'd plug my camera into the computer and the wall and the LED light would blink green slowly 3 times then blink rapidly and stop completely. I haven't even used the camera 10 times and it's no longer working. HELP ME!

Answer:
I have an S3000 that has gone through three batteries and after just a few uses would give me the message "Battery Exhausted." According to Nikon, when the eRechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL10 is inserted in the camera and charged, charging sometimes did not stop after the designated amount of time had passed.

Updated firmware needs to be downloaded and installed to your camera, and install a NEW battery. http://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/16873

If the light is flickering (very fast) it may be that the ambient temperature is not suited for charging or the USB cable or Charging AC adapter is not properly connected, or there is a problem with the battery. Disconnect the USB cable or unplug the Charging AC adapter and correctly connect it again, or try a back up battery.
