Great features, small & very good picture quality Was a gift for Mother's day from my daughter and husband. My old digital camera was larger and heavier. Could not carry in purse very well. July 23, 2010
Lens gets suck and does not retract. The lens gets stuck and does not retract when you turn the camera off. other people have had the same problem. Nikon refused to fix it under warranty. July 23, 2010
Good enough camera This Nikon point and shoot takes good pictures in general. There were a few surprises: The blink warning shuts off the flash. Flash sometimes wouldn't work for other reasons I could not determine. The flash range with ASA 100 or 200 is short. And, it is difficult to restrict ASA to slower, less "grainy" settings. On the plus side, it i easy to use, and sized for easy carrying. July 22, 2010
I JUST LOVE IT! Its more than amazing! I had my camera for a lil over 6 months, and I just love it. THE BATTERY LIFE IS AMAZING! I made the best choice with it. ITS NOT A PRO of course but it is a GREAT camera for everyday use. July 22, 2010
This product is easy to use and has great features I like my coolpix s3000 camara because I have many thing in one and also is too compact July 22, 2010
Does not stand up to it's hype. The camera is nice and small, but consumes a lot of power. I got 11 pictures out of a fully charged battery. Four of the pictures were blured. The pictures were telephoto at 1/4 of its full range. I had to use my backups as I forgot the spare battery and cord. The Olympus always performs outstanding. I would not recommend the Nikon coolpiz 3000. I am an experience photo finisher before color. July 22, 2010
nice compact camera Love this little camera. So many options/features for the money. We use similar cameras at work, only they are canons: Nikon has WAY more features for the money, plus much nicer product! July 22, 2010
Pictures are not clear, poor image stabilization While most pictures are adequate in quality, the majority of the pictures taken were not clear and required work to make resolve clarity. I had it set on high/large image mega pixels, everything was on automatic or turned on, and it took poor indoor pictures. I have purchased a salve flash to assist in improving indoor picture taking, but the most important family pictures that were taken by another person were unusable. Even the indoor pictures were I braced the camera to improve steadiness were not sharp. It also had a tendency to focus on the nearest object and not the general overall picture of the group. When I purchased this camera I was replacing a 5 mega pixel cannon. That camera took better pictures then this one and had fewer pixels. If I need to adjust a setting please let me know, I basically have it on factory defaults now and it still doesn't do as well as that old cannon. I want to get a better camera, but to connivence me that it is worth while I need to see better results from this one, or I will need to change bands. My P60 takes better pictures then this, but it's large and heavy and my wife wants a small convenient camera for her pouch when we travel. July 22, 2010
This camera is a great buy Recently had to upgrade my camera since the old one died on me. I went to the stores and checked out all the different types of cameras and read their reviews and found that the Nikon S3000 camera was the way to go. It has so many different features on it that will fit any occasion that may come up that will make you want to have you camera handy. The pictures come out great and need very little touch up since you can customize the settings so you dont have to do much work later on. Comes with a case for it and a 4 GB SD card that allows for over 1500 shots on it alone. The video function on it is also a dream. I have video things that I have seen on TV and when I upload them plp can't even tell that I got it off my camera recording a TV set in front of me. My only complaint would be the systems that come with the camera. It does offer a lot of free trials though and those system are worth checking out. If you are thinking about this camera and wondering if its a good buy or not then don't worry because you will be making a sound invest in a camera that will last you for quite some time. July 22, 2010
The best little camara The COOLPIX S3000 is the best little camara ever. It is small and styleish and the screen is almost as big as the camara. It takes such clear pictures even when I use the zoom. The thing I like the best is that I can plug it into the wall to recharge the battery and it takes 3 hours at the most. I never leave home without it so not I don't miss them once in a lifetime shots. Thank-You Nikon for this great product. July 22, 2010
easily broken camera The screen on this camera broke when it was in my pocket and i simply sat down. i did not drop, abuse or subject this camera to anything more than regular usage, however the screen is now broken. i would not recommend this product due to the ease in which it breaks July 22, 2010
Good Product This camera has been very easy to use and easy to learn. It does not have much built in memory so you need to get a memory card immediately. The advertisements lead you to believe it has a good amount of memory built in, but it does not. Otherwise it is a excellent camera for the price!!! July 22, 2010
Love the size. I love my Nikon, because of the size, I carry it everywhere. That's good for me because I am able to take pictures all the time. I like the ease of downloading, I can e-mail or upload the pictures to friends and family. I have to get better at the video sending. July 21, 2010
Awesome picture I love the ability to zoom in on my pictures and take video. Unfortunately the sound didn't work so I had to send it back, but they worked with me and got it processed quickly. July 21, 2010
Great features easy to use I was shooting within minutes... very easy to use and quality of pictures are great. Well made and feels expensive tho is really isnt. July 21, 2010
Ok product Does not take very good pictures in low light situations. Pictures are blurry. In full sunlight or with flash pictures are good. July 21, 2010
Good product. Easy to use. We get good quality photos with an easy to use camera...The software is not complicated and we can get the product for a reazonable price. July 21, 2010
very poor performance my s3ooo worked well for approx 43 days then quit all together took it back to best buys they could,nt and would,nt replace it so they put it in service dept i was without a camera for a week i don,t trust the camera now and i put it as a back up only July 21, 2010
The worst camera that I ever had It was the worst camera that I ever had. It stop working the first time that I used it. Poor quality and performance. And also i'm unsatisfied with your technically support July 21, 2010
Very good takes beautiful pictures So far, I really love this little camera!!!!! If this is to short forget it July 21, 2010
A good camera It takes good shots. Sometimes difficult to get closeups in focus. Long first shot delay and long shot to shot delay. This should be shortened. Photos so far have been good, once I learned how to use the camera. July 21, 2010
Not what I expected The camera was for my girl friend so I didn't expect the professional quality, but I expected more. The maximum f/stop of 3.2 limits depth of field too much. The AC charger was DOA. I was leaving soon and couldn't return the whole unit. I bought an external battery charger and an extra battery instead. This camera does NOT get proper exposure. It over exposes. I had to set it to -0.7 stops to get normal exposure in bright sun. Since most subjects were light, bright sand in the desert, it SHOULD HAVE under exposed!UNFORTUNATELY, it does not hold the setting when you turn it off and back on. There is no battery level icon on the display. It just warns with a flashing LED (if you are looking). If you miss it, it just turns off. July 21, 2010
I just love it. It has great quailty pictures, the zoom feature is remarkable, the compact feature to it is wonderful. I highly recommend this camera to friends and family. July 21, 2010
Finally I have been struggling with my camera that i had before, it was hard downloading them, it had very little to offer, and im not good at honing right in at the pic i want to take. This camera makes it so easy for me. I love it. Now I just have to remember to bring it with me wherever i go, and to take the darn pic, instead of saying oh that would have made a gread pic. Thank you Nikon. July 21, 2010
Poor construction I have purchased and used many digital cameras over the years but I must say that this is the worst camera I ever bought. There is no positive side to having so many features for the price if the camera fails in 3 months with a broken CPU board! I was told by an authorized Nikon repair center that this damage is NOT under warranty!!! Really, I didn't break my camera but i feel that the board is too flimsy so when I plugged and unplugged the micro usb charge cable, it cracked. July 21, 2010
Easy to carry; easy to use Purchased the Nikon S3000 so that I would have a camera when I needed it; hunting, fishing, sporting events, but I was also interested in a camera that had great features. The zoom lens and wide angle capabilities are excellent. I have found the wide choice of picture taking capabilities to be more than I expected. People are amazed at its functions. My only suggestion for improvement would be a case or change in surface texture to make it easier to hold on to. It can be slippery when held with wet hands. July 21, 2010
Very disappointed... unexceptable image quality. This is my first Nikon camera purchase and I'm sorry to say, I am very disapointed in the clarity and quality of Nikon's S3000 point & shoot camera. Totaly unexceptable image quality even in auto-mode. I regret buying this camera! July 21, 2010
Love It!!! This is my first Nikon camera, all I've ever used was Kodak, and I love this camera. The shutter speed is quick enough that I don't miss the picture I wanted. The LCD screen is a nice size and has a very crisp picture. Love all the built in features, love the size, love the sleek look, love the weight...I just love this camera! July 21, 2010
Easy to Use As a disabled person taking pictures can be a challenge but I have found my S3000, very easy to use. July 21, 2010
HANDY DANDY THE SMALL SIZE AND EXCELENT PHOTO QUALITY MAKE THS S3000 A PLEASURE TO USE, WHEN IT IS INCONVENIENT TO BRING OUT THE BIG CAMERAS AND LENS'. July 21, 2010

I bought a Coolpix S3000 today and see on the box the system requirements for a Mac are OS X 10.4.11, 10.5.8 and 10.6.x. I have a new Mac Book Pro with OS X 10.6.7. Will I be able to load photos from this camera onto my mac?

Answer:
I've had that a lot too! what I found out is you kind of....mess around with the charger, the battery, and the outlet. Like, unplug it, take the battery out,, plug it back in, unplug the little box-thing (that holds the battery) from the cord that goes into the outlet, etc. Just keep messing with it until it is blinking normally.
Good Luck!

Answer:
If the light is flickering (not blinking slowly) it means that the ambient temperature is not suited to charging or the USB cable or Charging AC Adapter is not properly connected, or there's a problem with the battery. Disconnect the USB cable or unplug the Charging AC Adapter and correctly connect it again, or charge the battery.

Answer:
First, make sure you are charging by plugging your USB into a converter in the wall rather than using your computer.

Second, this camera/battery combination has a known error that needs to be fixed. When the Rechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL10 was inserted in the camera and charged, charging sometimes did not stop after the designated amount of time had passed. The firmware needs to be updated by downloading to your computer, installing on your camera, and replacing your battery. See http://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/16873

Please verify that that you have the correct option selected for the Charge by computer, MENU > SETUP MENU > Charge by Computer. Also, try it with a different USB cable or a backup battery. If the problem persists you will need to send the camera and the charger to be evaluated.

I have the coolpix s3000. I've had it for a year and only used it a few times. I first started noticing problems when a fully charged battery said "Battery exhausted" and wouldnt charge at all. I then bought a new battery, and now my camera will not come on AT ALL. It seems the lens MAY be stuck,or it may actually be a battery problem. I'd plug my camera into the computer and the wall and the LED light would blink green slowly 3 times then blink rapidly and stop completely. I haven't even used the camera 10 times and it's no longer working. HELP ME!

Answer:
I have an S3000 that has gone through three batteries and after just a few uses would give me the message "Battery Exhausted." According to Nikon, when the eRechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL10 is inserted in the camera and charged, charging sometimes did not stop after the designated amount of time had passed.

Updated firmware needs to be downloaded and installed to your camera, and install a NEW battery. http://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/16873

If the light is flickering (very fast) it may be that the ambient temperature is not suited for charging or the USB cable or Charging AC adapter is not properly connected, or there is a problem with the battery. Disconnect the USB cable or unplug the Charging AC adapter and correctly connect it again, or try a back up battery.
