won't charge I put the battery that came with it in the camera and hooked up all items like stated on the website. It wouldn't charge, I just bought another battery for $30 and it still won't charge. Difficult to use a camera when it won't charge. I got this for Christmas, what a waste of money! March 1, 2011
A Great Buy I bought this camera almost a year ago and it still works beautifully. I'm not the most careful of people, so I'm always dropping things. After months of this poor camera being dropped and treated quite unfairly, it still works. It takes beautiful pictures and records outstanding videos with amazing sound quality. I love this camera and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great, compact, and sturdy camera. February 28, 2011
I wanted a camera that I could carry in place of my large camera in case an interesting shot presented itself. I hate not having a camera when a photo is there. February 28, 2011
This camera was not very good At first, this camera seemed great and it made me very happy. But i after two months, i have already had a lot of problems. Beware on deleted pictures, when i tried deleting just one, it deleted them all. This happened to me twice. I have also had many problems with the flash. I honestly think it does take good pictures, but this camera gave me too many problems. Hope this helps. February 26, 2011
GREAT CAMERA I just got this camera and was reading the reviews. I like the ease of the camera and the pocket size is awesome. Also I don't know why the one person couldn't use the camera without the software, I did I just plugged it into my computer and the pics uploaded to my hp (printer) photosmart suite. Very Easy. My cd/dvd rom is broken so I couldn't load the software. But the pics transferred just fine. February 15, 2011
Would not buy this camera It stopped working after several months, very big hassle to get repaired or replaced under warranty February 6, 2011
doesn't last long I love nikon brand cameras and they're all I've used for the past 6 years. I had my L18 for about 5 of those years and it was wonderful. However, I got this new one less than a month ago and now I have to buy a new one. The camera itself is really skinny and difficult to hold onto if you don't put the wrist strap on it (so definitely do so!), and it fumbled and fell once. Now there is a big white stripe going down the center of the screen, which prevents me from seeing the pictures that I've taken until I put them on my computer. It still takes great pictures, but it's a real inconvenience when you can't read anything or see the whole picture. I dropped my old camera a ton of times with no issues at all, so if you're clumsy while holding a camera, I'd recommend one that's not so skinny or you'll end up with a screwed up screen!! February 1, 2011
Just got it... I read many of the reviews. They were all over the place. Some love it and some hate it. So far I like it. I agree that the little battery door, and the door for the plug are very flimsy, much like a cell phone. The rest feels very well made and sturdy. It charged up in a few minutes, and I took several pictures indoors just to see how they came out. So far everything seems fine. I transferred the pics to my computer with no problem. If any problems arise, I'll be sure to come back and report them. Love the green color! January 28, 2011
Proprietary Software Required Just to Download Pix The only way to download pix off the CoolPix S3000 is via proprietary Nikon software. When connecting the camera to a computer, the media card is not visible unless this software is loaded. So, if you take the camera to a party or event, and want to give the pix to someone there, you have to load the software on their computer first. This means you have to keep the installer CD with you as well, or waste time logging into the Nikon site, and downloading. This is insane. Had I known this, I never would have purchased the camera. And, now, I'm gonna be racing back to the store to unload this rather useless camera. January 25, 2011
good for landscape I got this camera for christmas and expected more than it can offer. Though it is a good camera for landscape pictures, it can sometimes come out blurry. It's not good for low lighting, but when it's in the sunlight it can have impressive pictures. I would recommend this for beginners. January 23, 2011
omg love this camera this camera was a gift to me this christmas ii absouletly love it so stylish and cute and takes great pics and video=) January 21, 2011
too delicate I gave a camera to each of my boys for Christmas, and before the week was over the lens on 2 of them wouldn't open up. My sons have been using my Kodak for years and haven't broken it so I thought a camera of their own was in order. But we have been very disappointed with the quality of strength of these cameras. January 17, 2011
I have had this camera for a year now and it just stopped working. It also does not take very fast pictures. I have a 2 year old and by the time the camera takes the picture its too late. I am very unhappy January 11, 2011
Good camera I purchased sony W370 before this and feel nikon is lot better than sony in camera's. The zoom is pretty good. January 4, 2011
Love It! Still new to my JazzyPix, cant wait to see what she can do.. I love her quality, great colors and adjusts to lighting well. I have a passion for photography so I am lookin forward to having fun with her.. lol u prolly think i sound silly calling jazzy a her an all.. but i love the camera January 3, 2011
easy to use received camera for my christmas easy to use, takes great pictures and looking forward to using it for years to come. January 2, 2011
This product doesn't last I bought this camera while I was pregnant to take pictues of my son. While the picture quality is great, it had fallen apart since the 1 year warrentee ran out. Both sides and the shutter button have fallen off and the entire piece with the ok button doesn't work at all. This camera wasn't worth the money since it fell apart within 18 months. January 1, 2011
awesome camera Great camera....easy to use, compact to put in purse, pocket or somewhere convenient. Takes great pics. December 31, 2010
Nice camera I recieved this camera for a Gift from my 2 daughters for Christmas. Let me tell you, I've used it for 5 days so far. By far it's worth the money for camera's in similar price range. I'll more than likely stick with the Nikon Name Thanks December 30, 2010
Sleek and stylish! I love this product it takes great pics, and is so cute! December 28, 2010
A Nikon tradition continues I have always used Canon, but wanted a Nikon for years, I have finally purchased this Camera based more on Nikons rep than anything, and the Camera has not let me down. It was easy to setup and I started taking great picture immeadiatly I am very pleased with this Nikon and will be buying my SLR from Nikon soon as my Canon F1 35mm is a little outdated now. December 27, 2010
First Nikon Product I hadn't purchased a digital camera in some time, so I was trying to decide between the Nikon Coolpix S3000 and another brand that was a close comparison. One of the biggest factors for me was the fact that the Nikon had a charger and the other camera ran on AA batteries. The savings on batteries alone was worth it, coupled with the fact that I've always heard so much about Nikon's lenses. I wasn't a bit disappointed. It has many versitile features and even the video clips look good. Nighttime shots are a bit grainy, but no more than any other camera of this price range. It's very compact and easy to carry. Overall, I'm extremely happy with my purchase and will certainly consider Nikon as my first choice from now on. December 26, 2010
great camera I love this camera! After having alot of diiferent digital cameras this one is the best so far. I love the face tracking feature as well as the clear picture. I am very pleased with my husbands choice. I love my new Nikon S3000. December 26, 2010
This Camera Takes Good Pictures this camera takes really good pictures, i got it for christmas and i'm always taking pictures. all my pictures have come out nice and sharp. sometimes though when i'm taking pictures of people, skin tone in the pictures comes out a little orange so then i have to edit them, that's not a big deal though. this is a very easy camera to use. overall i really enjoy this camera! December 26, 2010
Great Photo Quality My boys got me this for Christmas this year (2010) and I absolutely LOVE this camera! I take a lot of pictures in my work, and this is perfect to get the job done! Compact and easy to carry around, and the major upside is, this camera produces excellent quality photo's! (A must for my job!) December 24, 2010
Still Learning I like size, and features!!! It's ideal to take when you go to a dinner, or a party, or to a family gathering. I entend to do more traveling in 2011 and my Coolpix and my D50 will be with me! JL December 23, 2010
Battery goes dead and lens error This camera was bought so my wife would have a small compact camera. After charging the camera and setting it to turn off after 1 minute of non-use the battery was dead the next day. The camera came with a custom carrying case designed for this camera. It was recharged and worked fine for aout one week and then it started giving a LENS COVER ERROR. I put it back on the charger and it seemed fine for another day or two and again began giving a LENS COVER ERROR. We are taking it back to where it was purchased and I will in the future avoid NIKON products. I suggest the same to anyone considering a new or replacement camera. December 22, 2010
Great Point and Shoot. I bought this camera almost two months ago. I love the color, is ultra compact and the picture quality is outstanding. I keep it with me all the time. The color in my pictures are true and beautiful, I can't ask for more. I don't have any complaints. December 22, 2010
This product takes very blurry pictures We bought this camera to take pictures of our new twin girls. It's very hard to take clear pictures as most of the pictures taken come out very blurry. Even when I adjust the settings and reset back to standard, the picures are not clear. My 8 year old Canon takes betters pics. Very frustrating. I would appreciate some personal technical support. December 19, 2010
simply excellent ! I recieved this camera as a birthday gift in July and I love it ! This camera takes awesome pictures and I like how there are many different scene modes it can go into ! The timer is very nice to have and the color options make your camera very unique ! Overall, I'm very impressed with this camera and i recommend that you try it as well ! December 16, 2010

I bought a Coolpix S3000 today and see on the box the system requirements for a Mac are OS X 10.4.11, 10.5.8 and 10.6.x. I have a new Mac Book Pro with OS X 10.6.7. Will I be able to load photos from this camera onto my mac?

Answer:
I've had that a lot too! what I found out is you kind of....mess around with the charger, the battery, and the outlet. Like, unplug it, take the battery out,, plug it back in, unplug the little box-thing (that holds the battery) from the cord that goes into the outlet, etc. Just keep messing with it until it is blinking normally.
Good Luck!

Answer:
If the light is flickering (not blinking slowly) it means that the ambient temperature is not suited to charging or the USB cable or Charging AC Adapter is not properly connected, or there's a problem with the battery. Disconnect the USB cable or unplug the Charging AC Adapter and correctly connect it again, or charge the battery.

Answer:
First, make sure you are charging by plugging your USB into a converter in the wall rather than using your computer.

Second, this camera/battery combination has a known error that needs to be fixed. When the Rechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL10 was inserted in the camera and charged, charging sometimes did not stop after the designated amount of time had passed. The firmware needs to be updated by downloading to your computer, installing on your camera, and replacing your battery. See http://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/16873

Please verify that that you have the correct option selected for the Charge by computer, MENU > SETUP MENU > Charge by Computer. Also, try it with a different USB cable or a backup battery. If the problem persists you will need to send the camera and the charger to be evaluated.

I have the coolpix s3000. I've had it for a year and only used it a few times. I first started noticing problems when a fully charged battery said "Battery exhausted" and wouldnt charge at all. I then bought a new battery, and now my camera will not come on AT ALL. It seems the lens MAY be stuck,or it may actually be a battery problem. I'd plug my camera into the computer and the wall and the LED light would blink green slowly 3 times then blink rapidly and stop completely. I haven't even used the camera 10 times and it's no longer working. HELP ME!

Answer:
I have an S3000 that has gone through three batteries and after just a few uses would give me the message "Battery Exhausted." According to Nikon, when the eRechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL10 is inserted in the camera and charged, charging sometimes did not stop after the designated amount of time had passed.

Updated firmware needs to be downloaded and installed to your camera, and install a NEW battery. http://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/16873

If the light is flickering (very fast) it may be that the ambient temperature is not suited for charging or the USB cable or Charging AC adapter is not properly connected, or there is a problem with the battery. Disconnect the USB cable or unplug the Charging AC adapter and correctly connect it again, or try a back up battery.
