A decent point-and-shootm but fragile I bought the s3000 as a "pocket camera," for occasions when I didn't want to carry my Nikon D80. While it's served that purpose fine, as far as it goes, I was disappointed when the LCD screen fractured, two months into use, from simply being carried in my pocket. Given the lack of a viewfinder, that effectively renders the camera useless. When and if I buy another point-and-shoot camera, it will be a more rugged model, and probably a different brand. July 20, 2010
packed full of fun !!!!! I've been doing lots of traveling lately !!!! This camera is excellant for taking pictures with zoom or without, movies, moving while takeing pictures, earasing images and is jammed pack with alot of features I have not mastered yet !! July 20, 2010
Great tiny camera This camera is awesome. It shoots pictures extremely quickly if you want to capture something in the moment and has great clarity. Also, it's extremely tiny and will fit right in your front pocket for convenience. The carrying case that came with it is also very sturdy and not bulky at all. I would recommend this product to any of my friends. Definitely my favorite camera as of yet. July 20, 2010
I love the features, the quick response time between the time you press the shutter button and the time it takes the photograph. I enjoy the included features such panorama assist, motion tracking, and face-prominent focusing. July 20, 2010
Good camera Buttons need better control texture for my old hands. It has all the functions I use with good quality pictures. Flash could be faster. July 20, 2010
Great camera I have owned many camera's, the coolpix is the best and easiest to use, the instructions are easy and clear, we have really enjoyed using the camera, we just returned from a vacation with our grandchildren, the pictures are spectacular, we will treasure them forever. July 20, 2010
great features, nice size purchased to use as a "running camera" want to have a nice camera to carry with me on an upcoming Disneyland 1/2 marathon, plan to stop and take pictures with the characters on the course, my "big camera" is too heavy/bulky to carry along for 13.1 miles. feel the S3000 will fill the bill completely July 20, 2010
Great Camera This camera is a joy to use and carry. It takes great pictures and is small and compact enough to fit in your pocket. Nikon is still has the best quality photo products out there. July 20, 2010
Some photos as good as my Nikon D60. Very pleased with the ease of taking photographys with this Coolpix S3000. On a trip to Alaska some of the Coolpix photos were as vivid and colorful as the photos taken with my Nikon D60. My wife is very pleased as using this camera is much easier that using the Nikon D60. We take both cameras with us now on all our trips. July 20, 2010
Not a good value - very fragile I bought this camera for my daughter. It took very nice pictures and was very easy to use. Unfortunately, it was dropped and stopped working completely. It was 3 weeks old, and I sent it to Nikon for repair/warranty assistance. It was not covered by warranty. It would have cost as much to repair it as what I paid for it. I had to buy a new camera (shock proof by a different manufacturer). Its not a good value if it doesn't work. July 20, 2010
Great Point and Shoot I shoot using a Nikon DSLR usually, but I keep the S3000 in my purse so that I have a camera with me all the time. I've taken some great photos with it using both the macro and zoom features. It's also very easy to use which I love considering I hate to read manuals unless I can't figure something out. I've also recorded a short video (at a concert) with the 3000. Considering I was sitting so far from the stage, the sound was phenomenal, as were the video and the still shots I took (with the zoom). Thanks, Nikon! July 20, 2010
Easy and Full of Features My S3000 makes taking pictures easy and look as though a professional photographer has been at work. It truly makes photography fun and provides documentation that will last a lifetime. July 20, 2010
ok/no First off, i had to return it TWICE! and im not getting this model again. The zoom broke twice. that is unbelievable. its WAS a good camora tho. i liked it alot. everything was nice. but i some times didnt get clear pics and it was kind of confusing to pick a mode. i likeD it thought, it was nice. July 19, 2010
The PERFECT Camera This camera was very perfect. Myself and others have tried many things but never experienced a helpful camera. It took a lot of looking at pictures on [www.google.com] and camera websites to find A camera i liked. finally, i found this camera and ordered it and it worked like a charm. It is Still a little hard for my old age but i recommend it to anyone 40 or younger! July 15, 2010
This product was not worth it I brought this camera for my birthday in May. But just decided to use is friday night for the first time. It does take great picture, i give it that much. But i went to download my pictures on sunday and now my camera does not work. Says "len error". I have searched the web and did all thing required to try and ifx it but they have not worked. i have only used this camera once. now it does not work. now i have to send it in for repair or get it replaced. I am not happy at all. I am getting ready to go on vacation next week with no camera. Very unhappy. July 13, 2010
Great picture! I just bought this camera today in preparation for a trip to see my grandson, and a second grandchild on the way. I love the crystal clear pictures and ease of use, all for a great price! This camera is small enough to fit in a purse or pocket. July 13, 2010

I bought a Coolpix S3000 today and see on the box the system requirements for a Mac are OS X 10.4.11, 10.5.8 and 10.6.x. I have a new Mac Book Pro with OS X 10.6.7. Will I be able to load photos from this camera onto my mac?

Answer:
I've had that a lot too! what I found out is you kind of....mess around with the charger, the battery, and the outlet. Like, unplug it, take the battery out,, plug it back in, unplug the little box-thing (that holds the battery) from the cord that goes into the outlet, etc. Just keep messing with it until it is blinking normally.
Good Luck!

Answer:
If the light is flickering (not blinking slowly) it means that the ambient temperature is not suited to charging or the USB cable or Charging AC Adapter is not properly connected, or there's a problem with the battery. Disconnect the USB cable or unplug the Charging AC Adapter and correctly connect it again, or charge the battery.

Answer:
First, make sure you are charging by plugging your USB into a converter in the wall rather than using your computer.

Second, this camera/battery combination has a known error that needs to be fixed. When the Rechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL10 was inserted in the camera and charged, charging sometimes did not stop after the designated amount of time had passed. The firmware needs to be updated by downloading to your computer, installing on your camera, and replacing your battery. See http://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/16873

Please verify that that you have the correct option selected for the Charge by computer, MENU > SETUP MENU > Charge by Computer. Also, try it with a different USB cable or a backup battery. If the problem persists you will need to send the camera and the charger to be evaluated.

I have the coolpix s3000. I've had it for a year and only used it a few times. I first started noticing problems when a fully charged battery said "Battery exhausted" and wouldnt charge at all. I then bought a new battery, and now my camera will not come on AT ALL. It seems the lens MAY be stuck,or it may actually be a battery problem. I'd plug my camera into the computer and the wall and the LED light would blink green slowly 3 times then blink rapidly and stop completely. I haven't even used the camera 10 times and it's no longer working. HELP ME!

Answer:
I have an S3000 that has gone through three batteries and after just a few uses would give me the message "Battery Exhausted." According to Nikon, when the eRechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL10 is inserted in the camera and charged, charging sometimes did not stop after the designated amount of time had passed.

Updated firmware needs to be downloaded and installed to your camera, and install a NEW battery. http://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/16873
